  • Such a cool song! The part where they delay the bass and drums coming in for a whole bar is fucking brilliant.

  • The Beatles -The Stones -The Hollies -The Kinks- The Police-TheWho-Queen-The Yardbirds- Elton John- George Michael - ELO-R.E.M-Dire Straits etc etc etc English Bands

  • It's the ultimate awesome song!

  • Check out the Never Brothers at the Texas Blueberry festival on this tune

  • Idk what it is but this song gets to me every time its what pure awesomeness is

  • i love this song and im 18 . remember the titans .

  • oh yeahhhhhh

  • I listen to this every morning, 6am, heading to work on the train. Helps me wake my ass up. Also causes undue attention from the tapping of the foot.

  • Totally hot! Totally Badass!

  • Love this song

  • Phenomenal! I love singing this classic!!

  • Fun song... sounds like Creedence... and a ton of fun to play along on bass or guitar!!

  • Thanx for posting this visdeo!!!This is one of favorite songs!!!When I was a bit younger I also thought that CCR did this song!

  • Yet another great English band

  • leche, agua, o ron?

  • cooooooooollllllllllllllllll

  • one of the best videos on youtube

    \

  • I was 100% convinced this was ccr but i couldnt for the life of me find the song

  • Allan has certainly aged dreadfully compared to Tony by then!.

  • @Terrilliser Terry Sylvester is lookin mighty fine, too!!

  • Love it. But not attractive

  • I had a very VERY flaccid penis before listening to this song, but then . . . Thanks The Hollies!

  • Great Song!!...Some parts sound like Green River (CCR)

  • @RioVerdee: Totally agree!! I was just discussing that with a friend cos we just heard it on The Walrus (San Diego radio station) and I pointed that out...

  • I've never seen Allan Clarke play guitar in any video earlier than this...

  • Every time I hear the intro to this song, it makes me think of the REM song "Driver 8".

  • good song

  • It began in earnest in the late 50,s. Rock and Roll exploded on the radio first and then TV. It was a fabulous time to be alive and grow up. No drugs, no pot, just a beer now and then if we could get an older guy to get us some. We all took it for granted. If you like Long Cool Woman, go to Wooly Bully, Sam the Sham and the Pharohs.

  • @beebaron You may not have been taking drugs and smoking green but i guarantee the people making this awesome music were

  • Rock and Roll " PERFECTION", 5,381,444 you tube hits on this classic. I consider myself fortunate to have been a teen when the rock and roll bomb went off. Still livin it.

  • I love it

  • Great band and great song! Now I'm off to watch Mungo Jerry, another killer band!

  • Allan Clarke has to be one of the greater singers of that era--going from singing this song to doing such a superb job on "He Ain't Heavy." Surely his talented voice gave the group such an ability that other groups didn't. They literally could do anything they wanted with his voice leading the way. Major kudos dude.

  • Thats what im talkin bout!

  • how could anyone dislike this. 168 dislikes, shame on you

  • Badass

  • 168 people r justin bieber fans

  • Greatest rock and roll song ever written.

  • Lip sing???

  • Loved then and still do. Thanx.

  • The fisrst song I heard on my first legal night in a club. Still good stuff. Still waiting for an english language version

  • I guess that most of you all on here know that their name is a tribute to Buddy Holly. (whose birth name was 'Buddy Holley). He dropped the 'e' in his last name when he started touring and, of course, he was tragically killed in a Cessna plane crash in 1959 after a show. We play this in my classic rock cover band. Always a hit at gigs.

  • remember the titans

  • @Blinkboybrad- i totally agree with you. i was too born in 1990 and i cant stand most of the crap that is out today that our generation calls music. i listen to mostly 60's and 70's music. the best time for really great music, in my opinion. the hollies being one of my absolute faves.

  • @MsCherrypie13 Ohh, cool then

  • Love it!!!!Loved all the bands of the 60's 70's and 80's...The comment made by horsenaround hit it right on the nail...I only listen to classicvinyl on the radio...

  • max plank's black body radition maxwell smart '99' work for control.

  • simply cool

  • saturday morning, open a beer, push play, look out the window from the 3rd floor, watching people walking by, thinking of what may happen tonight, maybe love, dead or both, or i'll wake up by the apartment door with the keys in my hand and a beer in the other...see...

  • genial &&&&&& genial.....absolutly incredible.....with this music.....goodbye reggeaton!!!

  • Cripes! Will you people stop with the melodrama, already?! Yes, The Hollies were great, so were the Beatles, Stones, Kinks, etc, etc. So were plenty of groups from the 80's 90's 00's and today! When was the last time you went out and saw a live band locally? Guess what? There are thousands of great bands all over the country playing small venues that would blow your doors off! Rock and Roll will never die, and it ain't fading away, either!!

  • @1HarryIvan If you tryuly think that, then I will go out on a limb and say you don't know what great music is. I live in Buffalo, and i see live bands all the time, and 95 percent of them are kids my age who are stupid hipsters, that just creat noise. I'm sick of the same defense over and over aain, that try to overlook the fact that there really is a huge gap in talent and creativity today in music. People like you refuse to accept the truth, just like why america is dying.

  • The Hollies got inspired to write this after hearing some CCR.

  • I also worry about the future of rock and roll, let alone music as a whole. Being born in 1990, I find myself complacent amongst my generation for failing to produce anything worthwhile for me to enjoy, hence why I am constantly delving into the past. It upsets me that I only find peace in the past, but I am hoping that rock will wake up out of it's coma, and dethrone this mindless nigger garbage. I started playing too, but i think itsa our job to show our friends this music, to try and save it

  • man this song still has one badass intro. even by todays standards it's away ahead of alot of the music that you hear now. and it's over thirty years old.

  • Thank God (Gore?) for the internet or I never would have understood the lyrics to this.

  • The hollies are a legit blues band. by 2:31 the lyrics flow like a fuckin rap song. Love the guitar trio riffin!

  • Here in Mexico, This song its intro of a Oldie Music Videos Show.

  • Time and time again. My gut feeling tells me my generation got shafted... (today music)

  • @strongbeach123 Yes, darlin', you surely did. The late 60s and early 70s were a time like no other.

  • I would click the thumbnail Titled "Blinded by the Light", but I have to finish this song first.

  • i really like that

  • love the beat

  • makes me think of my dad.. was one of his favorite songs.. love it~

  • @bekka8256 This was one of my mothers favorite songs as well :)

  • what blows me away is that the lead singer is Tommy James of 'The Shondells'!!

  • ROCKIN!

  • @solcario2 You must not of known the Hollies or CCR too well if that's the case, Clarke and Fogerty have very distinct differences in their voices. The main one being that Fogerty has a tendency to add a strange twang to words...maybe I just have a more astute ear than most...meh

  • @ARunawayTrain Good to inform people. Watch ya ego brotha. It's no good.

  • This LOOOOOONG COOOOOOL ROOOOCKS !!!!! =)

  • my all time favorite song by hollies

  • a ral classic thanks for posting

  • waa

  • damn....limewire lies again......got this song on limewire, thought it was by ccr for about 2 years now

  • Wonder just how many know what the term GETTING DOWN is really like..... LOL

This is sure perfect music for it.....

  • Allan Clark is such an underrated talent. The Hollies deservedly made it into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!

  • love it

  • @ JOE, YOU SAID THAT RIGHT!!

  • best song of the 70's

  • i could just listen to that opening lick all day long....

  • Road trippin in the back seat, blunted to death, dreaming about sending in a job appl to Langley!!lol

  • holy CCR

  • Always loved this song.

  • I feel im like in Nevada, LV when listening to this song...

  • The Drums sound like they are enormous, the guitar is awesome.....

  • A really awesome song to just freaking groove to. DAMN !!!

  • @ccmason9555 Way to dam great for that era!

  • Cancion de la teleserie lola

  • la cancion principal de lola :-)

  • Damm...Love this song!!!

  • What bothers me is that with all these good old bands getting too old to perform anymore and retiring, who the heck is going to carry on with our rock n roll? Certainly, there are no bands nowdays that could even begin to touch the talent as musicians that these old bands had! I think this is the end of a the glorious days of rock n roll like this and it makes me so sad! I just havent been able to get into any of the music since the heavy metal bands of the 80s. Its just not the same anymore!

  • @horsenaround boo hoo baby -

  • @horsenaround you really aren't looking very hard if you can't find tons of talented bands today

  • @itstristanyo

True that. This is great tune, and a lot of excellent music came out of this era.. But, if you can't find stacks upon stacks of fresh, innovative, and exciting music being made today, you need to take off those rose tinted glasses and pull your head out of your ass.

  • @itstristanyo Yes, there are lots of talented bands out there, but the beat isnt the same. The spirit of the people is gone as it was back then! Most of the rock music nowdays is very boring and slow or mixed with rap or electronica. I do like one band though and thats New Medicine and im also enjoying James Durbins new cd.

  • @horsenaround but , don't you think ...bands like 'The White Stripes" (in my opinion) carry it on? ..If not ...I believe music evolves...and styles come back around...a lot of 'young musicians' are influenced by the past ...everything is relative ...even if you go back to 'The Hollies' , they too- were influenced by the past also! I think rock has a great future ...it all comes back and it's about creativity. Peace , man!

  • @horsenaround well said

  • @horsenaround i totally agree with you there. this is why i collect records and cherish each and every one of them. ( i have about 4500 to date)

  • @horsenaround just coz it aint commercail doesnt mean its dead, it still lives in all of us. If you care enough you would make a band or help support your local rock n roll ;)

  • @horsenaround like James Hetfield said back in the days "sad but true". Even though i wast born back then I never stopped listening to "old" music and never started to listen to the crap they call music nowadays. Well aside from techno :)

  • Saw them 3 times live. Was so dissapointed that they could not hack it live.Exceptions were the magnificent lead singer who held it together(:-)

  • AMAZING!!!!!

  • Back in college, these guys played an out door show, in the spring ... they jamed out this song for about 15 minutes ... or maybe that was the acid ... anyway, was a great show.

  • @mersk100 if you look on right hand side of page , there is 10 min version of this song

  • MY BEST PART OF THIS SONG STARTS AT MINUTE 1:23 THE WAY THE GUITARS GET PLAYED IT JUST GETS ME GOING IT NEVER GETS OLD SIMPLY A GREAT SONG

  • Awesome !

  • Short song....but I can't get enough of it!!!!

  • ...Long Cool Woman.....and He Ain't heavy...they got it going on....onnnn.....onnnn...onnnn

  • i love it at 0:23 when the bass comes in...awesome!!!

  • it's a telecaster, what more could you need?

  • i from el salvador but this music is really good ilove

  • Awesome!!!!

  • This sounds like a rip off of Green River by CCR

  • nicholasomesfilmes...I think it was the unfortunate 70's perm.

  • Yeahhhhhhh great music long live the hollies music forever and ever!!

  • Man this is some of the greatest music ever and I'm so proud it was part of my youth ,the greatest

  • This sure as hell beats the crap of today.

  • Why does Alan look old he was only in the 72 and he was young in 69

  • love that reverb

  • I can't stop playing this because it brought out a rebellious, fun-loving side of me instead of the stodgy Engineer working his way up the corporate ladder in England in the 60s. I love this song because it sounds so much like the Rock & Roll coming out of the US in the 60's aka Chuck Berry but was produced by a great UK band who unfortunately did not hit the big times as high as the Beatles or the Stones. Great to hear them again and again. Thanks.

  • i love Swamp Rock!

  • WHY DID MUSIC LIKE THIS HAD TO DISSAPEAR..... </3

  • @juicygirl67140 its still around you just have to look for it

  • Holy Crap! I just noticed if this guy isn't Tommy James of the Shondells, he's his twin brother!!

  • This song reminds me of a west Texas pool hall on a hot July with a beat up old juke box playing this 45 on it and ol' boys throwing back shot glasses of Jack and pounding Lone Star tall boys - oh yea and a fight breaks out in the back and no one seems to mind as long as the music keeps playin'..

  • @joerancho67 Well, I minded. I got a black eye that night.

  • @joerancho67

    oh yeah

  • @joerancho67

wow i would love to be in that bar. nothing any better than cowboys drinking and having fun.

  • @joerancho67 U just described the song!

  • Look at Allan's face starting at 2:27

You can see how happy he is just singing, and it looks like if anything he's trying to hold back laughter. Today's generation of music will never compare to classics like this until they learn to put their heart into it and half fun making music.

  • una cancion para el carro, a todo volumen.....!!!!!!

  • one of the most bad-ass guitar intros ever!

  • are those guitars esquires or telecasters?

  • I'm gettin a tele just because of this song. : D

  • how is this song so great

  • i'm in my 20's and I love this song. I don't know what it is, the lyrics are kinda lame it sounds kinda hokey but it's got that solid back beat and it sounds kinda kick ass

  • @zeppelincheetah you kinda like the word kinda, but of course, kinda is not a word, its TWO words, ,KIND, and , OF.it sounds kind of kick ass, yes very good, your command of the English language is hugely impressive

  • this song was played during the vietnam war, dropping napalm

  • Always loved this groove, real simple and yeah it does sound like CCR...reminiscent of Green River. You could do a medley of this song, Green River, Old Man Down the Road, Run Thru the Jungle and the drummer would never have to change from this beat.

  • @steveyraynelson they do sound like CCR both great bands :)

  • Possibly the most played song on my iPod plus iTunes! Shame on them 162 people they have no long cool woman in a black dress

  • Great..

  • It is a great song imagine it was out in the early 70s

  • What a great song I love it!

Check out this band too they're really good and upcoming!

THE VINYLS-GET IT OUT OF YOUR HEAD

  • what a mistake, i always thought CCR wrote and sang this

  • @gotherealex Don't feel bad, me too.

  • @gotherealex ARSEHOLE Child pimp

  • I would place (3) it in the top 10 of songs of the 70's. A GREAT SONG better than junk played today! It's played with heart and soul! Rock On Hollies!

  • I Remember it sounded great then still does NOW. I was in High School then and hearing it again takes me back to a better time in my life. They were a great group playing songs with a style never to be topped!

  • remember the titans :)

  • Total Creedence rip off song

  • @jamaral81 I think you are a little unkind with that comment. Allan Clarkes vocals are true "Clarkey" and all that has been done is to put some echo on the track and therein lies the similarity. The song was actually all Clarke, not the Hollies and became a hit during the time he had left the group.Luckily he came back until he retired in the 90s.

  • @jamaral81 ARSE HOLE Child pimp

  • This song still makes you tap your feet and snap your fingers! What a great beat!

  • Classic rock n roll - still sounds good nearly 40 years later. Thanks for the memories. :-)

  • @Annabelle2234 You are so right about that! Some songs are just timeless.

  • @Annabelle2234 peace

  • GREAT SOUNDS OF THE PAST!!! THANK'S!!

  • This song is a classic! It was way ahead of it's time and it's still a song that you think was made recently. That's how good it is.

  • this song reminds me of Football!!!

  • I heard this in the subway today :B made my day

  • This song always reminds me of when i was young & bein at a Jaycees convention with my folks down at the beach, us kids chasing each other, & old farts dancing and drinking PBR lol

  • Elle got it all.

  • dog shit tacos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • played this tune till I fell asleep... one of the best ever....

  • Back to high school!!!!
