Widor, Messiaen). Carpenter ist wirklich ein Ausnahmekünstler.
I'm speechless. What an outstanding musician and charismatic live performer is Cameron Carpenter ! He should have won that Grammy. Who can be more deserving than him ? He deserves all the praise bestowed on him. I've watched him live and I'm hungry for more. I hope I get to see him perform Live again.
willowthebored. You are perfectly correct, Ravel did do the orchestration for this work, as it was originally written for the piano, as I'm sure you know. Thank you for pointing that out. I was in fact trying to make sure that my comments about Carpenter were heard loud and clear. He is a genius. I'm sure the composer would approve if he was still with us. I am glad that you are a lover of this work, and ask you to accept my apologies for my slip. Regards.
A symphony of colourful registrations and video to match. Mousorgsky would never have conceived his "Pictures" being performed on an organ. So hauntingly beautiful, dynamic and profound! Cameron has created yet another work of art!
I think I prefer Chapman's version, and if he'd had a working combination action on that maintenance nightmare it would have been fabulous beyond belief.
This is a fantastic performance. All this mighty orchestral work played on one instrument is truly amazing. Maestro Carpenter is truly a great artiste. How I love this. Its even better than how Mussorksky wrote this for a whole orchestra. Bravo, Bravo, Bravo. How I wish He would come to England.
@Lopear27 Hi, thanks for the information. Wish I had seen that he was doing dates in the UK. Will have to keep a lookout for his next tour. Glad u r a fan as well. Regards
@cms1947 Sadly he hardly ever seems to be over here, the concert in Manchester was a kind of one-off - I don't think he played anywhere else on that occasion. Having travelled a reasonable distance to see him perform there live, I was surprised to see that it wasn't exactly a packed house. I unfortunately know quite a few organists in my area that are quite scornful of him, and others players like him, which annoys me greatly. A shame really. Their loss though! Cheers
Wow!! Very original!!

@Pricher1991
Besser machen!

A great performance!
Also check out Jean Guillou and his incredible version of 'Pictures' on the Tonhalle organ in Zurich. One of the great audio test discs, BTW.

Great music, but why don't you show Cameron playing?

Keep in mind Keith Chapman also recorded this very same piece on the Wanamaker organ. He also did a superb job....

Actually, I think Ravel did the orchestral transcription.

@cms1947 he did - he was at the bridgewater hall manchester earlier this year. I was there.
