They just started letting them use fire works with in the city limits 3 years ago, i live in beijing, actually 10 minutes from the cctv building in guomao. I watched this whole entire event.

There are 7 rings to beijing, and they are not suppose to use fireworks with in the 4th ring road, this is the 3rd ring road ! So its not the government , its the chinese not following the rules.

You can literally buy mortar round sized fireworks on the street corners during Chinese new year. And people are firing them off pretty indiscriminately. No license, no common sense, no nothing...is required. This is only about 1km from my apartment and I can smell the stench of burnt metal from here.

actually.. u dont know shit about this building, it wasnt complete yet so fire sprinklers werent installed. If u want to compare it to another country, then look at WTC, that shit even collapsed. Its a miracle that this building survived (it may have tio be broken down but it didnt collapse killing all firefighters).
