Right now my kit for a scout or overnight would be: waxed cotton haversack, hammock sleep system, Habilis knife, metal canteen with cup, spool of bank line, taktikka head lamp, garmin gps if in unfamiliar area, first aid kit that has a mirror and whistle in it. My wrist has a pcord bracelet and a watch with a compass. My knife has a striker in it he sheath and I have the strike force in my pack

I still carry items from each category, but maybe a different brand or option. This kit is heavy on fishing because my school is located on 5 miles of lakefront. As this is not a real rescue situation, signaling equipment is a little lacking. My video may have sounded like this is what I always carry, but is really more in ref
Nice video. Looks like you have a few of the basics covered, but I'd be sure to beef up your signaling, and add some water purification tabs. You could ditch at least half of the fishing stuff. Just my opinion. Whatever works you buddy.

It includes a whistle, knife, striker, and sharpener...this is great because some of my students are new to this stuff. The quality itself ain't bad, it is very similar to the prodigy or LMF II.
