  • i love the jazz music in the opening credits...love it !!!

  • to the one guy who gave this movie a thumbs down, he can take that thumb & stick it str8 up his arrogant ass. enjoy baby

  • In researching the career of James Melvin "Jimmie" Lunceford I was shocked and saddened to learn it is believed he was murdered by poisoning in 1947 by a racist Oregon restaurant owner. Those just now inquiring about this gifted orchestra leader will also be learning about the Cotton Club and vocalist Myra Johnson.

This is an entertainment history treasure and I salute you for sharing.

  • @raynefallz1 Thanks - Jimmie Lunceford is one of my 2 favorite bandleaders (Artie Shaw's the other) & his appearance here was the initial draw in my interest in this movie.

Got plenty of Jimmie's 78's posted as well - if you're interested, just hop to my channel page & look up "Unpacking SwingMan's Lunceford Suitcase" in my playlists. :)

  • Elia Kazan is nt a bad actor but he is great director
