sorry but this is nowhere near the album version, let alone their previous performances. you can also tell Max wasn't too comfortable with that high pitched kind of screaming, because when you compare Roots and Chaos he's like night and day. they were already on the downward slope at that time, and the nu-metal bollocks that was already all over the place sure didn't help.

I used to love Sepultura...they started to experiment with new sounds and riffs. I think Max just moved on because of the torubles they had, but the new sepultura continues harvesting the old honours with no news sounds. CC...they are what they are, that´s the new cavalera sound...

yeah but I love old sepultura sound, songs like Arise, DEC, Refuse-resist, Territory, Roots or Ratamahatta are legends of thrash metal! in 96 sepultura was on the top, in their best condition and then Max destroyed everything that they made. roots performed by derrick or soulfly are poor quality in compare with show in spain (1996), and CC is great but it seems to me that there is inflikted, sanctuary and other songs are the same.

I was right there at this show which was years ago at pinkpop and I remember this live performance blew me away (no comparison to the album). I can't believe anyone truly believes the "band" led by D Green can lick the toes of the real Sepultura's live performance. I also have the original quality broadcast (this video is a bit lower in quality) and you can clearly see the effect on the crowd around 4:45 when the song explodes. This song to me at the time was the definition of "heavy". Peace!

We're in this bizarre situation where effectively Sepultura is two bands both writing new material and performing it alongside the old stuff. We've got Derrick Green's Sepultura, and Cavalera Conspiracy is effectively the old Sep with a different bassist and lead guitarist... both are great, but Green's Sep lacks the aggression of the Max-era Sep or CC. Having said that, I like the slightly more mellow sound of the new Sepultura, with a distinctive vocal sound due to Green being black.

Now he's gone, there is no Sep. Sepultura started out as just Max and Igor, who then hand-picked the other members. Andreas, Paolo, Jean and Derrick have no right to use the Sepultura name anymore.
