I dunno if this will be noticed, but I'm personally wondering, how do you make the prop blade invisible? LIke how do you ignite your blades? I understand you'd coat the sticks you fight with and put a lightsaber affect, but how do you make your blades ignite real well?

-there is no more "image control" and "adjust" in after effects

-"color balance" is in "color correction"

-"stroke" is now in "generate"

-(this is for cs4 and cs5, I don't know for cs3)

I think they're actors, as well as expert choreohraphers, and visual artists, so I'd say yes. Any good actor can keep a straight face. Although they probably had outtakes.

I don't think there is a button. Carbon fiber tubes if you look carefully, have lines, and for me if you just turn the lightsaber 90 degrees, you probably would get the saber back in your hilt. If it doesn't do it, I put wd40 there. If it doesn't work, I don't know.

I'm curious as to why you didn't use a particle system with AAE? You composited on all of the particles. That sound time consuming.

you can also make props with a 3/4 in wide by 10in long steel pipe and a 3ft long dowel and wrap the pipe in silver duct tape and use electrical tape for grips and it cost me about $5.48 at home depot for the dowel and the pipe

They said they were using sparring swords. Aluminum handles with carbon fibre blades. They would have easily taken off the blades for when the lightsabers were off.

to Iagoodino: I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about, but the best way is to reverse the clip; play it backwards, so the last frame is first etc. if you have after effects, time remapping.

@shikakimushrooms I agree, as the coreography in Star Wars is very poor, often showing huge holes where they can attack like in Attack of the Clones Anikin has his arm held out for 2 seconds before it gets cut etc.

That's cool. Hey, another feature of the "movie look" is depth of field. Play around with lenses or subtle blurring of the background of your video in your effects suite.

i know it sounds silly, but bambo works well, 2 or 3 thin straps taped together (red tape for rotoscoping?) where can i get bambo, thats silly you ask? check your local hardware store, gardening, you'll be surprised. anyways, thats basically industructible and lightweight (they use em for weapons for god's sake) try it out

If you had to use a different program, I would recommend Shake or Avid FX. Unfortunately, neither are free. I tried sabers on Wax, but the lack of color correction tools made it impossible. You can blur the edge through.

Maybe you'll read this helpful advice though...i know your not actors...but when doing the grappling and the physical aspects of the choreography...try to actually hit each other...im not saying go at it full force and hurt each other...but hit flesh and react more...some of the hits looked weak. But hey....you still are lightyears ahead of what i can do...great job on the movies....GREAT JOB. Hope to see more with some more physical combat!

Actually, most of the strikes DID connect. "Real" punches look nothing like "movie" punches. We went after real punches for the most part. Ironically, most people who think they want real punches actually want movie punches.
