  • If I were Clara I would have left Schumann for this.

  • @HERMIONExCANTxDRAW HAHAHAHAHA

  • Much more hard hitting and "striking" than the other versions I have heard. When it reaches its peak you can really feel it.

  • There is indeed something unsettling about this performance, starting with the oddly jaunty, lilting introduction - like a smile that doesn't quite reach the eyes, as if the orchestra is trying to put on a brave face. And then the choir comes in, sounding like they're trying to warn you about something in an urgent whisper.

Can't wait to hear part 2, now.

  • Real gem. The quality of the choir is superb.

  • Such beauty. I sometimes wonder how Requiem's are such unique pieces...

  • Brahms never ceases to make my heart skip a beat. What a musical genius...so grateful that he left an abundance of music for us to carry on.

  • first heard it on the documentary "The Nazis: A warning from history."

    good documentary too.

  • Thank you for posting; I love this movement in particular so much. Also appreciate the commentary / background information for this specific recording.

  • Shivers down my spine...

  • Once heard this in Durham Cathedral. One of those moments you never forget.

    (Jak 5,7)

  • For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away.

    (1 Peter 1:24)

Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

    (James 5:7)

  • Kegel is not most known for his wonderful music, but for inventing the incredibly straining ass clenching exercise used by millions of people around the globe at any sitting moment.

  • What's the exercise?

  • @Gigamacdaddy that is hilarious, the kegel exercise is invented by quite a different kegel.

  • I TURNED MY SHIT UP ALLL THE WAY

  • @Internetscelebrity High colonics?;-P

  • Hey, this isn't fiddy. YOU GUISE LIED!

  • Thank you for this, but also for the abundant info's about Mr Kegel. He was a more or less familiar name, but what I can rea here, is quite fascinating. (Didnt know that he championed contemporary music in the DDR, bless him!)

  • Thanks for sharing, great piece!
