From the very start: Genesis has won its stripes for the depth and many layers in their at-first-not-so-musical sound but absolute geniosity. The pure sense of it all has ,to me always been them voicing "intellectually-controlled emotion" and fine stories.
Later-on they broke free out of that -only fools never change- but as a band they never lost the pace really. Check out all of them solocarreers and projects, you might be disappointed , but only a few times. Bernard
@maxiformula This Video was a Bonus Video of the 2007Remaster Version of We Cant Dance... But sadly, only this Song and the beginning of Home by The Sea... I cant understand why :(
Genesis Knebworth 1978 makes this look and sound like garbage. That was a massive spectacle. Even though this is very enjoyable it's slow and bland compared to that 1978 show. Can't really compare. They were peaking out in 1978.
Superb medley... superb concert!!!! Great clip.... needs releasing now as a dvd! Only trouble was it took 3 hours to get out of the car park... well worth it in the end as it was 15 years since we got to see them live again...one last chane please!!
i was at this concert....was sooooooooo amazing finally of their world tour.....but so gutted phil left the band shortly after.....was a curse ....living colour, skunk anansie all saw the last concerts before they splitt.........lol
the twin towers....and to that no talent bieber when you can sing and put on a show like this then come back and talk to me....see you in about 50 yrs cause it WILLLLLLL NEVER HAPPEN
@unknownkingdom i heard he said to him "Phil you can sing them better than me but you can't sing them like me", as you said unknownkingdom, an acurate assessment :) Still, bless you Phil, i love you to (just a bit less than Pete)
I always did love old Genesis even more than later Genesis; too bad they didn't play each of these songs individually to include all of each song, but still great music and a well thought out medley! :D
My parents were at this show! I was only 5 at the time so I couldnt go! :-( They were also at the Wolverhampton show (my dad got into the local paper cos he was the first in the queue for the tix!)
Even though I've been into Prog since the 70's, only recently touched with Genesis when I purchased their excellent 3 CD Collection set. Can anyone recommend the best DVD set to get?

Also, tell me Phil at 8:17 doesn't look like wildman Will Patton at the end of "No Way Out," a very underrated movie.

Phil not at his vocally finest, but still very high quality stuff. So sad I missed this tour back in the day. 104 likes, 0 dislikes: says it all.

Peter Gabriel said that he feels Phil Collins actually sings the old songs better than he does, but he doesn't sing them with as much character.
An accurate assessment, I think.
