What does that joke mean: "I think he was a nine, Papa."?
I know it is based out of Tevye saying "Mine, mine, mine" but what is "Nine" in reference to? Also, what is Jumpers and why would the kid hang out there?
(I have seen Avenue Q but not Fiddler on the Roof, if that makes a difference)
I love it especially the part with the puppets vs. the humans... and the matchmaker part that rod sings and the part with the president art and the beginning with trekkie.. and the times reviews guy the part when everone goes do do do do do!! and they are all in a line.. OKAY... I LOVE IT ALL!!!!
I wonder if the pink puppet in this show was an early design concept for Kate Monster that no one could bear to throw out when they decided to make her a single-rod puppet with light brown fur.
@matika1000 Yes it is Lea as Shprintze. She played this role while still being in the workshops of Spring Awakening and she was a senior in High School!!!
@LushedMonkey It's not really a stab. I'm a hardcore Idina fan, and I laughed at that. I bet Idina would laugh at the joke. Don't take things so seriously.
@LushedMonkey ...it wasn't a cut towards Idina Menzel...it just says...Idina Menzel...not green..meaning people play characters they are not on broadway...like all those in Fiddler who are not really Jewish
OMG I just got this: they go to Avenue Jew after leaving their home. That's y there's just two daughters. Lol the character I played married Pinceton and ironicly i've seen the Avenue and been in the Jew
@joshcripe42 Doma is a federal amendment severly restricting gay and state rights. We used to have similar policies about money where a state could choose to recognize the currency of another state. It was a bloody disaster.
genius x3 I wish they would make an DVD with the original and stuff like that as extra.....the england musical ends 30th october this year and an German like me will probably never see it again :(
I love this so much! It had the original Avenue Q cast, AND Lea Michele of Spring Awakening and Glee (3:52) and the girl from Into the Woods who plays Little Red Riding Hood who's name is slipping from me right now (6:38). I loved the references back and forth between the two shows, not to mention the jabs made at other Broadway shows. Great job! Kol HaKavod!
Actually, there's a nice double entendre there....the reference was to the Tsar, as in the leader of the country (in this case a puppet of George Bush), which is consistent with the whole "Fiddler on the Roof" theme. I'd never notice, though, that Russian Jews referring to the Czar in Yiddush as "Tsar" would also be calling him "narrow", as in narrow-minded, restrictive, etc.
tzar means narrow but u probably just misunderstood a what they actually said and fagalah is not actually a word in hebrew its actually more of an english word it derives from fag and its just changed to sound funny but its\ might be a word in yiddish which is another language that jews spoke in europe in the 1900's. Yiddish is similar to German. I dont speak Yiddish but my grandma does.
Fagelah is Yiddush slang for a homosexual. Tzar is the same word as Czar, the former ruler of Russia before the Russian Revolution and the rise of the USSR.
I'm curious who sings the part of Jewish American Princeton in this video. The part was sung in the original cast by John Tartaglia, who also performed as Rod. However, in this video, there are two different actors playing the parts....Tartaglia is playing Rod (the gay puppet who wants to marry Lazar Wolf).
I think it's Barrett Foa. He was the understudy for most of the male puppet characters starting in December 2003, so at the time of this show he did play Princeton sometimes.
This is so funny! But I hope they warned the kids that they shouldn't say some of the words the adults and puppets used. Can somebody tell me what all those Hebrew words mean?

@antsamthompson9 Hey like I said, the cast of Avenue Q should guest star during season 42 or 43 of Sesame Street in an episode like #4220 (Music Magic) Joey Mazzarino could write it, Kevin Clash could direct it, plus it'd be the perfect chance to re-introduce Rick Lyon I can picture it now
Announcer (Jerry Nelson): Ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to introduce after a fifteen year absence the creator of the Lyon Puppets and Avenue Q, please give a round of applause for Mr. Richard Lyon
@antsamthompson9 Yeah and here is the plot Sponsors: A, Q, 15 Word on the Street: Lyrics w/Jeff Marx and Bobby Lopez Musical Numbers SS Theme-SS Cast Hello-SS Cast Avenue Q Theme-AQ Cast I Love Trash/The Internet Song-Oscar, Trekkie, and Guys But I Like You-Rod, Nicky, Bert and Ernie Oscar the Wonderful Grouch-Rick Lyon and Oscar Mahna Mahna-Bip Bippadotta and the Bad Idea Bears Fat Cat Scat-Rod, Princeton, Nicky and Bip Bippadotta Lever Lover-Kate Taylor the Latte Boy-Princeton

The Off-key song/X Train-Oscar, Grungetta, and Trekkie (with Rick performing Oscar , voice by C.Spinney and Marty as Trekkie), and the Grouch Engineers (Peter Linz and Jim Martin)
@antsamthompson9 Wait how about this? *The count enters" Kate: Who's that handsome purple fella? Count: I am the count, it is nice to meet you, you know for a monster you're pretty cute! Kate: Oh go, on! Princeton: O_O Count: Marry me and I will treat you like a princess! Kate: Well...Okay! *Kate chases after the count* Princeton: Wait..come back here! Rick: Let her go Prince, you'll find another *Princeton breaks down and cries* Rick: There, there, it's okay.
@antsamthompson9 Cookie Monster or Trekkie could play a rendition of the SS Theme on the fiddle to open the show and then either them would eat it, lol
Rick and David: Thank you and enjoy the show! (Rick high-fives Dave and CM and TM exit)
and of course this back and forth betwixt Oscar and Kate
Oscar: Hey tubby, when you go around the room do you go AROUND the room?
Kate: I am not fat, I'm Reubenesque!
Oscar: Is that what you call it, I say you're still fat!
@antsamthompson9 Yeah, but I think Kate would think that Oscar tastes terrible, but on the other hand maybe he tastes pretty good, almost like pistachio ice cream ('cause he's green)
Oscar: What was that for?
Kate: I always wondered what grouches tasted like
Oscar: So you're a cannibal? That's it I'm outta here!
Kate: Wait, come back I'm still hungry! *Kate chases Oscar, pins him down and munches on Oscar's fur some more*

Princeton: Uh, Kate why is there green fur on your lips?

@antsamthompson9 Oh and I just got another idea maybe Bert and Ernie could sing "Matchmaker" and then the matchmaker would find perfect matches for them
Matchmaker: Bertram and Ernest, I've found the perfect girls for you
* Betty Lou and Prairie Dawn walk up to Bert and Ernie, later the rabbi (Rick Lyon himself) marries the two couples*
Rick: Mazel tov, may the four of you live long and prosperous, be fruitful and multiply
@antsamthompson9 Yes, Benny and Bobby compliment each other very well, and the reason I chose those names was to keep with the whole "Muppet Pairings" concept, and while we're on the subject how would these "couples/friendships" sound?
Princeton: We had a great time on Sesame Street didn't we guys?
*others agreeing*
Big Bird: And you're welcome to come back anytime you want
Princeton:Thanks Big Bird, oh and one more thing (turns to the audience) Sesame Street has been brought to you today by the letters A and Q and by the number 15, Sesame Street is a production of Sesame Workshop, see ya (The Avenue Q cast exits)
@guate6 yes, but my mom and a friend who only saw one of each (my mom saw fiddler on the roof of course, and my friend knows avenue q) also thought this was really funny :)
but of course, i guess i know better than them EXACTLY how funny this is XD

The funnier thing is that you need a working knowledge of both Avenue Q and Fiddler to fully appreciate this.
guate6 1 year ago 5
@guate6 yes, but my mom and a friend who only saw one of each (my mom saw fiddler on the roof of course, and my friend knows avenue q) also thought this was really funny :)
