I have a theory. And it wasnt a dream, they were in a different dimension, and that imposter ghost ship was a gateway into the other dimension, so when it caught up with them it disappeared. Plus all of the sand of hours is drained from the hourglass, which means the time has differentiated from the teleport. And Linebeck is sailing off

I remember being super pissed for like, five days straight (though I am still lol) after I finished this game. I hateeeee every ending, whether it be for movies or games. But for some reason I was especially mad about this one. I think it's because at 5:35 I realized Linebeck would probably never appear in a Zelda game again .. and he hasn't ( He's my favorite character, too :c ).. i played both phantom hourglass and spirit tracks and one thing, among others, made a huge difference for me - character development. in phantom hourglass, you really grew to the friendship that celia, linebeck, link, the ocean king, and tetra had while in spirit tracks, only zelda is with you for your journey in that game. idk i liked phantom hourglass much better.

He might be the windfish, due to the whole "wish" thing. The ending of Link's awakening shows a picture of Marin in the sky, and then in her place, a seagull! This could be saying that Marin got her wish, and so, one could beleive that Oshus is the wind fish.

Well, the master sword remained lodged in ganons head since thats the only way he will be kept sealed away.

But you do have a point about the mirror shield, I don't think will ever know what happened to it, Just like the king of red lions. Link sailed away with him and now he doesn't have him anymore. It remains a mystery.

well, first part is confirmed in spirit tracks that link and tetra's expedition at the end of WW eventually leads to the discovery of a continent somewhere. second part is that the new lineage of heroes (started by WW link.) will probably be of mixed heritage. Unwise it would be to have someone born carrying two triforces, so chances are if link begins a lineage, it would NOT be with tetra. Medli was the only other girl on the expedition, and assuming rito can cross breed with humans, (cont'd)

Not a bad theory. Really, Link is kind of a reincarnated soul, rather than a lineage of people, so he could be of any race I suppose.

On another note, they are indeed looking for a new home at the end of WW, which explains how they end up in the seas of the Ocean King. I'm guessing after that, they find a new land to inhabit. Also, to go along with your theory, the new Hyrule may be near the Ocean King's seas, since Maze Island (from Zelda II) is in his seas.

well actually, it is a lineage thing. in Wind Waker, the ancient text stuff (when translated the second time around) basically explains that the hero of time didn't return because his lineage ceased. The new lineage is from the unexpected new "hero" link reassembling the triforce of courage.

Now, I always thought that the "hero of time" did not return because of that split time-line (e.g. he "left" the future in order to go back to the past, creating a parallel time-line in which he was not present).
