@hadesoftheunderworld Good questions I was about to ask the same ones. I really was looking into getting a fila but heard about presa's and now I am a little confused. I want a good protective dog that if I want them to meet a stranger and not show aggression they wont. they can still watch them just not attack unless I need them too and which ever is easier to train and will get along w/ my blind schnauzer.
@pinkstangcloud , after reading around, I think the Presa is a fear aggressive dog. Meaning it will attack out of a hatred for the stranger, and not necessarily attack to protect the family. The Fila is supposedly very good with all family members, very protective, but hates all strangers. I don't know how hard it would be to train a Fila not to attack every stranger. Kangals, Spanish Mastiff, Bull Mastiff, English Mastiff, are good guard dogs that supposedly wont attack all strangers.

I have seen some friends children torment animals man if I was a dog those children would have been shredded like a rag doll sorry. but parents don't let their kids do it to them why let them do it to animals?
@hadesoftheunderworld I couldn't disagree more, don't know what you read, I've never read any such shit. If anything the Filas would fall into that category. Both of my dogs are great with children and people. My Fila is more skidish and react to everything. The Presa is bold and fearless.
@phoenixdragn , I read that Filas were partly bred from a Flock Guardian breed called the rafeiro, which gives it a natural protective instinct. Whereas the Presa was created for attacking and hunting. I guess individual bloodlines and individual dogs may differ from the norm. But that's all theoretical. You have them, so you'd know more. Commands are a funny thing. For your info, "get her" is a command for them to play exactly like they were. "Alice" the blk Fila is a clown, and the Presa is my guardian, it's been like that since they were pups. My dogs are not aggressive towards people or other animals so assume what you like. BLOW ME!
