why do alot of saxophones still not sound as good.. im a guitarist... but ive been looking at saxophones... on here.. obviously his set up is much more expensive/ better quality etc.. but i have a feeling it depends on the players mouth, to get the actual expression the vibrato etc... its very interesting instrument for me... love this song.. thank god for dire straits and thank god for chris white... wish there was more music with such soul to it nowadays... peace.

Ok, to set the record strait (no pun intended :P) the singer here is not Knopfler and this band is not Dire Straits (Re. video desp.). Chris White toured with Dire Straits for 10 years but he wasn't really a member of the band as such...

I've recently transposed the intro and solo by ear onto alto. It's not too difficult to play, however achieving the smooth quality that chris white maintains here is the main difficulty.

the smootheness comes with time and practice...I have just started again after 10 years out and you need to practice nearly everyday to keep the intonation and the keys flowing through your fingers ......
