  • Cthulhu has got to start paying attention to the contracts he signs

  • They have Cthulhu in the basement? I wonder how many times they called the Orkin man before they realized it wasn't going to do any good...

  • Kind of brings to mind the John Carpenter movie "The Prince of Darkness" (1987)

  • I was so scared for that hand from the fridge

  • Cthulhu would not be amused to see that his name is used for this crap =(

  • This looks really, really bad.... but that's not necessarily a bad thing :)

  • Please help: I'm looking for a movie from the 80s/90s in which some people, in the end, are using a "symbol" or something to summon a devil, and then the earth opens and the devil comes out (good special effects) and fights against them ... Please tell me the film title ... °_°

  • this film is only crap.

  • Well, this crappy movie should rather be called "Mansion de Cacathulhu" (in spanish, "caca" means "crap").

  • I love HP Lovecraft 'and' this movie! "What?" I hear you say? Well F You! Hahaha, just kidding, but seriously, I mean it. Although cheesy I always felt it had great atmosphere and created a feeling or foreboding dread particularly well. Admittedly it is best viewed when in the right 'state' of mind ;-) but then so is every movie.

  • The only good Lovecraft movies are The Haunted Palace (miscredited as Edgar Allan Poe), Die Monster Die, The Dunwich Horror, Re-Animator, and From Beyond.

  • This reminds me of the original Evil Dead...

  • You know... I honestly don't know why the hell no one can make a decent HPL adaptation, but supposedly Guillermo Del Toro is working on a major motion picture adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness, and if it's not a flop, which I expect it won't be, being rather familiar with Del Toro's work, It promises to be amazing.

  • He's doing "The Hobbit" first. He has rights to "Mountains of Madness" until 2017 and says he's been "researching" the effects for years or something like that, so who knows when he actually plans to make it.

  • Looks realy good.

  • @LORDHATE76 you could be disappointed...

  • Whoa,I never saw this! I need to scour e-Bay to see if an old VHS copy is still around.

  • I´ve seen it.........it´s quite scary and highly realistic.

    warm regards,

    Thingvellir,

  • lame i want CTHULHU there should be a movie, where you actuall see him, well maybe not, because seeing him invokes instant insanity

  • @niatsux Seeing the effect (special) would probably invoke instant laughter...

  • Obviously, the guys who wrote this movie misplaced HP Lovecraft for EA Poe - I've seen a lot of undead brides in Poe's stories, not one in Lovecraft's. They though they could enhance their poor haunted house script with some "literature" in it - the problem is they never read a book.

  • ripoffs & satires & 1990's, OH MY!

  • Don't be fooled; it has nothing to do with Cthulhu. They simply put the name on the evil book and the gates to the mansion. Past that, it has nothing to do with Cthulhu. Cthulhu isn't in the basement, we never get to see what's there. It's just a standard possession/haunted house movie.

LOVECRAFT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS. Black Magic Mansion is an appropriate name.

Also, it's one of the first bad movies I've seen to credit Lovecraft, but has nothing to do with his work.

  • Maybe it's Cthulhu's black magic even though he isn't there, eh? Ever thought of that? ^_~

  • @MonkeyMechX2 What about 'From Beyond'? Although there was a bit of Lovecraft-type imagery in it. A lot of this stuff is like 'Steven King's Lawnmower Man'-nothing to do with the story he wrote (a disposable couple of pages to be honest) but he gets a few grand if they use his name on the thing-then again, you could say that for a lot of the Bond movies, they may star Ian Fleming's James Bond but Flenming never wrote of Safari Suits and space shuttles!

  • @MonkeyMechX2 What Lovecraft inspired movies do you know and would recommend?

  • @pubesz Dagon

  • Oh dear.

  • Creepy...
