The difference between these classic metal bands and most of today's metal bands, is that today's metal bands are content to all have crappy "screamy" vocals, and copy-cat riffs, whatever sounds "hardcore". No identity, no real creativity, nothing that makes them stand out. Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament, Toxik, Death Angel, Flotsam & Jetsam, Sacred Reich, Overkill, Forbidden, ALL those all bands eventually forged their own unique sound, and you could tell them all apart.
