pour a flammable liquid on the sword, or cover it with an oily rag then set it on fire.

Actully if you poured flammable liquid on the sword and swung it around it would flame the audience, and an oily rag would break-down into smoking black ashy rag parts, so please dont do it! I used kevlar cloth (must burn at much higher temps to break down) secured by rivits, and I used Coleman White gas for fuel.

Where do you get kevlar tape? Also what is your actual sword made of (underneath the tape)? Metal or something else?

@CelsiusMaximusXXX Kerosine may work better in low oxygen areas :) but then again you CANT spin kerosine out XD
