I have updated my iphone 3gs from ios 4.1 to ios5.0.1. It was unlocked before. I used to have to 6.15.00 firmware. After updating from Itunes it shows the apple server down error and says "could not activate your Iphone". Is that mean it is Bricked?

And also I am trying to follow this video to fix it. The website to download "NEW Bootrom 5.0 Custom 3Gs 6.15.00 Restore" says temporarily not available. Do you have any other link for downloading.

Hey mate, I got an iphone 3gs that was recently bricked while i was restoring, but i managed to unbrick it. it is on iOS 5.0.1, and it had the 6.15.00 baseband before i did the restore process, but i checked my settings and it doesn't have any firmware/baseband. @Shubhaaryal if you restored & its stuck on the itunes logo, just put it into DFU mode, then jailbreak it using redsnow & select IPSW for your version of iOS. it worked for my 3gs, so no guarantees if yours will work. it should start up again, but now i'm having problems. can't enable wifi & the restarting ish

@combarcapes: I had the same problem and here's how I got it fixed. Open up redsn0w, select your ipsw, click "back" and select "just boot tethered". I did that and it activated my phone (iOS 5). It also fixed my my "No service" error. Good luck.

@themoonman2012 If you have the old Bootrom, and 6.15 baseband, you will only be able to take it back to an unlocked IOS 5.0 to jailbreak it so you can unlock it. There is not a jailbreak for 5.0.1 at this time. Following the above procedure allowed me to 'downgrade' from 5.0.1 and to reinstall 5.0 jailbreak and unlock.

This solved the following problem:

3GS old BR, jailbroken & unlocked to 6.15 & 5.0. UNLOCK was lost 4 Tmobile & stated ‘NO SIM’ when it was upgraded to 5.0.1.

Following above procedure allowed me to go back to 5.0, jailbreak, & unlock the SIM. You may want to list this as a fix for unlocking 6.15 baseband & downgrading from 5.0.1 to 5.0 so that jailbreak and unlock function work from Cydia. I am not tethered and did not need IBooty and had no errors in the Itunes 10.5.

Haha. So now it gives the no sim and it won't even activate, the activation thing says wait three minutes over and over again, so I think it is bricked. If I follow this Author's steps will it restore it back to working condition? Unlocked and Jailbroken?

Everything worked very well until an Apple update to 5.0.1 was applied. Once 5.0.1 was installed, my unlock disappeared and it would not work with Tmobile.If you decide to attempt this, make sure that as many of the conditions matched what I have to be sure- such as OLD Bootrom, and 6.15 baseband.
