2. Toskala was terrible last year. It was due to injuries, but he was still terrible. A GAA over 3 and a SV% under .9 isn't what we like to call a good season. He'll rebound next year though 'cuz he'll be healthy.
3. Why would Schenn need support? He plays 1 on 1 defensively.. It's not like he's a forward who can't score because his other teammates can't pass... Schenn is usually matched up 1 on 1 against the best in the league, meaning he doesn't require any support.

Well...he caught him with his head down...his shoulder was square, Vermette crumbled to the ice...pretty much your typical non-average-in-the-slot hit. You did not see the boards shake, and the ground did not open up at their feet and swallow the rink sure, but worth the replay and a comment about how the 18yr old rookie dropped the 26yr old trying to skate up the slot.
He came in from point as Vermette backhanded the puck out of the zone so he was off balance and easy to take down, (he, wans't even trying to carry it out or anything), I've done it a zillion times myself and not once did I ever think wow good hit..... he picked him off but it made no difference to the game play, didn't stop any moves, didn't send a message, didn't do anything except make Vermette fall over. Why is it that YOU are the only one saying Schenn hasn't played well so far this season? If he were playing shit he would have been sent down a long time ago. Interestingly, the St. Louis Blues had Schenn ranked in their top 5 of desired players, and Filatov was ranked 11. Quite a few organizations had Schenn ranked higher.

What the leafs have been lacking for years now is a solid defensive player, they've accomplished that with Schenn. Don't forget he's still a rookie, though a defensive player he comes with very underrated offensive skills. Wait til Schenn turns 25, when he'll completely dominates his oppositions.
In hindsight though, we got the best defensive prospect in the entire draft. Hard to argue when there is a plethora of offensive talent available every single year by comparison.

there is a difference, for instance Toskala, he would shine on any decent team, but instead he is on the shittiest team in the league where he gets no support, schenn wont get any support, therefore will be a lone star and wont be able to play to his potential

1. Schenn isn't a goalie.
2. Toskala was terrible last year. It was due to injuries, but he was still terrible. A GAA over 3 and a SV% under .9 isn't what we like to call a good season. He'll rebound next year though 'cuz he'll be healthy.
3. Why would Schenn need support? He plays 1 on 1 defensively.. It's not like he's a forward who can't score because his other teammates can't pass... Schenn is usually matched up 1 on 1 against the best in the league, meaning he doesn't require any support.

Well...he caught him with his head down...his shoulder was square, Vermette crumbled to the ice...pretty much your typical non-average-in-the-slot hit. You did not see the boards shake, and the ground did not open up at their feet and swallow the rink sure, but worth the replay and a comment about how the 18yr old rookie dropped the 26yr old trying to skate up the slot.

He came in from point as Vermette backhanded the puck out of the zone so he was off balance and easy to take down, (he, wans't even trying to carry it out or anything), I've done it a zillion times myself and not once did I ever think wow good hit..... he picked him off but it made no difference to the game play, didn't stop any moves, didn't send a message, didn't do anything except make Vermette fall over. Big deal.

Not true. At the time Schenn moved in for the hit it wasn't clear what Vermette was going to do with the puck. I agree that it wasn't that big of a hit, but oppotunistic it was not.

Interestingly, the St. Louis Blues had Schenn ranked in their top 5 of desired players, and Filatov was ranked 11. Quite a few organizations had Schenn ranked higher.

What the leafs have been lacking for years now is a solid defensive player, they've accomplished that with Schenn. Don't forget he's still a rookie, though a defensive player he comes with very underrated offensive skills. Wait til Schenn turns 25, when he'll completely dominates his oppositions.
