Its a shame technologically savvy people who don't embrace online gaming culture seem to lack that community atmosphere in regards to technology. Its still there, but in a different form, and playing online games with friends and family is relatively equivalent to a card/board game, though with less cheating and control, which is always fun.
@Senakujin i agree that there is validity to online gaming, online games are especialy strong at building networking skills, but it is not the same as meeting face to face. you loose all the subtleties of expression with digital communication. also i think this whole discussion is missing the point of her speech. her speech was about how technology alters the way we interact rather than saying anything specifically negative about online gaming.
It was nothing particularly against her, heck i really enjoy her as an actor. In retrospect i probably should of rooted my argument in console local co-op games, like the new Mario or anything with local multilayer. I have nothing against nature either, i camp alot, it just seems that this argument is always made where its "go outside!" or "games/tech make you into a zombie" its possible that they do, but its to generalized of an argument to say all technology dose.
I dont play them due to the fact I cant get into them. The Twelve year-olds screaming into the mic, it makes you wanna take off the head set but you need the headset to communicate with the few decent people playing on your team and strategize with them. Also I have slow DSL internet (100k) is the fastest I can get in my area.
Good for you, Jamie, for making good use of a blackout to reconnect with your family. And good idea on regularly having a "no juice" day every so often. It will be a great model for your children to learn.
lmao....when hurricane wilma hit my house, i lost power for 2 weeks. i've always liked books, but i had never read so many in a 2 week period...lol and when power came back, it was just like she said, i hit the pc, checked email, ordered food, and started gaming...lol
@kaldrich2 - she said the water must be melted and without heat(electric) she could not melt water for toilet. I would have no problem living her multimillion dollar lifestyle with no electric for a while. I'd like to see that 'log cabin'
thats why you go solar!! duh

Hm.. Apple is SOOO subtle with things like this and iJustine and so forth..
Of course, I still respect this actress (and other actors at Dig Nat)
Doing commercial is nothing bad.
But Apple is all over the freakin' internet.

Does this mean Jamie Lee wants to get off of the juice?
BTW....your toilet will still flush w/o electricity. Just find a way to fill up the holding tank.

Maybe hers didn't.. Like maybe where she was they used a electric pumping system that got water from a well.. In that case, you can't.
