you can however memorize algorithm which essentially does vector calculation which transposes and translates an element's position which essential takes an element from one spatial dimension to another.

There is actually mathematics going on that we are not paying attention to. This thing that he is holding is actually can be a field of research for a phd student in Linear algebra.

You can memorize algorithm which essentially perform vector arithmetic. Using matrices and vector you can transpose and translate(fancy word for repositioning) each element from one spatial dimension to another without disrupting the positions of the other elements(here each little cube is an element). What you see here is an example of linear algebra.
