I've always been curious on that, being technically canines, what would you feed them, and as for care and whatnot... they seem to be almost as capable of domestication as dogs if started from birth...
Just so you know, the fox isn't scared--he's respectful. The fox recognizes the human as the "alpha" ( a common canine and feline pack mentality ) and is showing both respect and affection. We're the fox scared, the tail would be straight up, and not moving, not swaying by it's legs. The noises they make for fear are also a bit different then the whimpery sounds it was making. Over all, yes, this was a very innocent, cute video of a domesticated fox that is NOT being abused in any way.
I saw a wild fox once in my neighborhood I thought it was a tiny red dog until i was up close to see what it was. To my surprise it was a fox we played the staring game.... I was like holy crap I have never been that close to a fox.
NO animal deserves to be exterminated. Human arrogance just baffles me. The fact that if any particular type of animal inconveniences us in any way, our reaction is to just go through and kill them all. It truly makes me sick. How anyone could want or have the heart to kill such a beautiful animal is just beyond me.
@alyssamwbc Are you sure no animal deserves to be exterminated? What if like a horde of rats were carrying a disease that was strong enough to wipe out people by the thousands. Im pretty sure you'd then change your opinion into exterminate the rats. It's not just a matter of an animal "inconveniencing" us, it has to do with a situational context. Things like over population, the as for mentioned diseases and destruction of areas. So ya you should think of both sides before you post.
@shimsham35 I've looked at both sides, and I've formed the opinion that no life on this planet should ever be "exterminated" as though it is of no worth. I hate to break it to you, but we're just one species on this planet, and we are of no more value than any other species, whether it be rodent, fish, insect, etc. As for over population, most of that is of a direct result of humans introducing animals from other habitats into ecosystems that were never meant to support them.
@shimsham35 If you want to get down to it, the species that's most over populated is us. And to address the diseases issue, that is one I have no answer for. I simply can't stomach the killing of them. As for "destruction of areas", you'd have to be more specific. If we're talking about property, that just showcases our incredible ability to be materialistic, and if we're talking about ecosystems, then, again, that's often a result of human interference.
@alyssamwbc We're only over populated cause we evolved to be the dominant species. Can't stomach killing disease carrying animals. I'm sorry but that's fucking stupid, so you'd rather an animal carried disease run rampant then destroying the carriers? As for destruction of areas, Im talking about homes and shelters which are you know kinda a basic need in order for us to survive so when an animal starts destroying that ya they become a pest.
I'll kill every hunter that shoots another fox! They just shoot them cos they aren't allowed to shoot humans so they shoot animals to satisfy their murdering lust and hunger. Hunters are the pest not the foxes. D'aaaawwwwwww... such a cute little foxy! <3 <3 <3 =)
@JERHxART ok you dont see a wold caring about the soul of a deer now do you? no they eat it to survive. its nature. the great cycle of life. prey is to be eaten. now get over it. oh and one last thing, awwww thats such a cute fox i want one!!!!!

Why do so many people have to get on their soap box with animal videos? It's like "Ooh! Cute animal. DEATH TO HUMANS!" Seriously. This fox is adorable. He's so happy and eager for pats. <3
Foxes ARE pests, just not particularly dangerous or unsanitary ones. They destroy things and will eat/attack ther animals such as pets and small birds like chickens. This of course does NOT give people licence to hunt and kill them. It used to be in some places that rabbits were pests
foxs are as cute as a dog or cat for some poeple i love them but i would consider them more of a pet than a pest the only reasen animals attack is cause you try to kill them so there defending themselfs!

@920NarutoFan well thats just the way they're skeletal system was made. it uncomfortable for foxes to lock their knees so they slick without trying to be. what your seeing is hes in walking low looking like hes avoiding punishment, well picture that movement when hes hunting
@JERHxART things would not be different, in fact, people actually use dogs and cats to make fur STILL!!! ive seen some pretty horrific videos that i would not like to think about right now. but ive seen german Shepards that have been skinned alive. people are selfish and cruel and think only of themselves. so when people protest, these guys tell them what they wanna hear.

@JERHxART Animals belong to us, to do as we will. I would never advocate animal cruelty, but we are the dominant species on this planet. Calling for peace between us and animals seems like asking a lion not to hunt.
I like how you're essentially discriminating against hunters and judging every hunter there is based on a few assholes you know.
And even the "assholes" don't want them to go extinct, ESPECIALLY if they "enjoy the thrill of killing". Why? Easy: If they're extinct, you can't hunt them anymore. A healthy animal population allows for continued hunting, and a healthy ecosystem.
Simple: We didn't have sensible animal population control, and no one was running statistics, like we do today.
Research? Mate, these animal pretty much went extinct due to CITY PEOPLE expanding, and not wanting these animals around.
Countryside hunters had been living around these animals for thousands of years, and they started disappearing once cities started expanding even more. Go figure.
Also, why are you whining about mankind being a pest, yet you continue living on its goods?
That won't really strengthen your case, nor does it somehow debunk my points, not that you could without ending up intentionally lying to even yourself.
@JERHxART You have to remember that the fox IS in fact a pest in every foreign country it's been introduced to like any other introduced species (human stupidity at its finest). They're a serious threat to foreign ecosystems, and from a country's national perspective, the survival of its own entire natural ecosystem takes precedent over a single introduced species.
@JERHxART Are you just trying to stand up for an animal with a bad rap? Or are you a misanthropist, and if so, how do you deal with your own humanity?
@JERHxART Foxes CAN be pests, but in all honesty, they are not so much a threat that they need extermination. They are small and solitary hunters, reenforcing protection around your livestock(i.e. having a guard dog/cats on the grounds, setting up more chicken-wire and having the fencing go deeper underground to prevent the foxes from burrowing under) can greatly reduce the risk of a fox snatching away your poultry or rabbits.
@shadowbreaker777 Actually, there are areas in the world where foxes unfortunately really do need exterminated... Red foxes wreaked complete havoc after being introduced to Australia (by the English, for the sport of hunting, of course)...they decimated populations of birds and made some species of small marsupials go extinct.I'd never advocate cruelty in doing so, but they never should have been there in the first place, and they need to go, for the sake of native wildlife.
@JERHxART Unless of course the fox is say killing chickens on a farm, or is diseased and has become a threat to people in the area. Then you know it is a pest. You should probably think about both sides before you bud. Just sayin.
he's happy and he shows it, and we will all be happier if you give him a nice shower (if possible, cause I don't even know if you can actually give him one, but I'm just saying)
Second point. There are DOZENS of fox breeders all over the place, breeding "domesticated" foxes to sell as pets. These foxes have never been in the wild before, never experienced it at all. THey were born in someones house. And people telling them to set them free, you are condemning the fox to a death sentence by throwing it in an environment it was not born and raised in. Captive bred pet foxes cannot live in the wild and are just as happy with their RESPONCIBLE owners.
@wendewellspring It's the fox breeders that I have the problem with. As you say, "These foxes have never been in the wild before, never experienced it at all. They were born in someones house." THIS is what is so dreadful, and nowhere did I suggest they should be set free, and that to me is tragic, They shouldn't have been bred for sale in the first place. Why were they? They just become a status symbol animal, no matter how loved and cared for.
And finally, so I avoid people trying to correct me on some points, no. Foxes ARE NOT for everyone. They still contain wild instincts, they're descructive, they smell if they're not spayed, and sometimes they will bite. They are not the pet for the casual pet owner, and require research and a lot of special care to be truely happy. and yes they CAN be happy, if the owner knows what they're doing. Go cry on the youtube videos of owners that DON'T know what they're doing cause this fox looks happy
Third point. Foxes are very different from dogs, and require deep research in order to translate their behavior. What whining means for a dog, can mean something completely different for a fox. Theres a fox that make noises that sounds like its being killed, but that's its happy sound. What I am basically trying to say is, everyone saying this is cruel, you don't know the behavior or background history of this animal.
@o0AquaDragon0o I take your point about 'domesticated' foxes - you are right to say that they can't be released into the wild. But the fact remains that the breeding of them is terribly wrong and another indication that human beings want to have control over wild animals. This fox is cute but it revolts me that he is enclosed and has barren paving stones as his 'outside' habitat. Some of the comments here have sickened me and it seems that people just think of them as live toys.
@wendewellspring One last thing, theres responcible pet owners and irresponcible pet owners. This is the same for EVERY animal, not just limited to foxes. I wouldnt put them all in the same category as I know some people who treat their fox like their children and give them all the love in the world. Theres owners like that that can be found right here on youtube. The fox is healthy, has love, happiness, food, shelter, and safety. Thats all anything needs regardless of where they are living.
@o0AquaDragon0o You and I will never agree. I feel so strongly that foxes should not be bred for the pleasure of humans. Human can love them 'like their children' but they are NOT their 'children'. I know they were born in someone's house, but they shouldn''t have been. But then I've always hated zoos.
@wendewellspring Well they are being bred and theres nothing we can do about it so theres no sense whining about it. The best we can do now is give them good homes so they dont end up in fur farms. Every argument you have against foxes you can say about every single other domestic animal we have, which were all once wild. For example, dogs. Zoo's also have a purpose more than just displaying animals. Some cant return to the wild because of injury. Some are bred for species protection. etc.
@wendewellspring zoos original purpose is not entertainment, it's education. Zoos are meant to house animals that can't be out in the wild while educating adults and children about wild animals. It helps children learn about the wild and helps them understand why we should strive to help these animals. I would bet that many biologists, shelter owners, and animal conservationists got inspiration for their careers from zoos as children.
@wendewellspring There are people who treat their foxes like part of the family and I'd rather see a fox in someones home where it is safe with a daily meal guarenteed than outside and run over by a car, or shot simply for existing, or slaughtered for its fur. I honestly dont think we are seeing his entire habitat in this video. This does not mean the fox isnt happy. Its well taken care of. All that matters
@wendewellspring Re your statement that the people who keep foxes as pets treat them as their children: I feel sorry also, for the children of the people who 'own' the fox in the video if they keep them outside on bare paving with just a basic shelter against the weather.
@o0AquaDragon0o I feel sorry for the children of the people who 'own' the fox in the video if they are also kept on bare paving with just a basic shelter. By the way, I support my local Animal Rescue Charity. While not every animal can be returned into the wild, many can be, are treated for their injuries and then are gently rehabilitated back into their natural habitat.
@wendewellspring you see one angle in this video? maybe thats the pen for when guests come over n are being introduced to him ....there's maybe 5 acre of garden behind that camera full of lush green grass for all you know......seriously idiots who dont think beyond what is put in front of them scribbling comments like tht? thank god theres smarter people in the world cause if people like you were in charge the world would still be flat n the earth the centre of the universe.....clown
@wendewellspring haha whao ...out of all tht you only took away with you "idiot" and "clown" and not the actual lesson....it just seems you've been out gunned n had no actual defense to your original comment being niave and ignorant ....
@controlledsmiles You are the ignorant one. I care only for foxes in the wild and I support a local charity that rescues injured foxes, and, where possible, introduce them back into their natural habitat. That to me shows true love and respect for these beautiful wild animals. Whereas you lot 'want one' - spoiled brats that you are.
@wendewellspring who wants one? my comments arent even about the fox itself, its about how you made an assumption based on nothing....on a camera angle if ANYTHING, that is pretty much the defenition of ...ignorant, and spoiled brat ...your stamping your feet and just aiming ur views at me....i dont want a fox, never said that once ....you sure you replied to the correct comment or was that aimed at another video of someone looking after an animal....the bad ol bastards they are,
It seems theres things people in these comments lack understanding. Sure, it is wrong to keep wild animals, born and raised in the wild, as pets. HOWEVER.
If you are responcible and know how to care for wild animals and their specific needs, adopting a fox if it can no longer survive in the wild (and you're legally able to do so) is perfectly fine. You're saving it from a horrible death, and that is wonderful. As someone studying as a vet tech I highly support it if you know what your doing.
i love foxes that why i hate all these stupid hunters and traps and poachers who hunt foxes. if anything i think people should hunt and trap CATS instead. cats are really destructive and annoying!
@vTANKv because then the overpopulation of both species will disrupt the natural order, many species of rare bird are bought to near extinction because of cats and foxes. It's because of humans that foxes live in unnatural places (eg, red foxes were bough to Australia by English settlers so that they could hunt those foxes for sport) so it's the humans responsibility to make sure that they are kept under control.

Wild ones are, guess what, WILD!
And no, they do not bond with a human the same way as a dog. Dogs have been BRED for the last seven to ten thousand years to be pets.
Foxes have been bred for fifty, and wild foxes are still wild.
And no hunters want to have foxes go extinct. What nonsense.

@JERHxART agree.
ChrisCarter1983 1 month ago
@JERHxART Unless of course the fox is say killing chickens on a farm, or is diseased and has become a threat to people in the area. Then you know it is a pest. You should probably think about both sides before you bud. Just sayin.

Go cry on the youtube videos of owners that DON'T know what they're doing cause this fox looks happy
o0AquaDragon0o 6 months ago 46
Third point. Foxes are very different from dogs, and require deep research in order to translate their behavior. What whining means for a dog, can mean something completely different for a fox. Theres a fox that make noises that sounds like its being killed, but that's its happy sound. What I am basically trying to say is, everyone saying this is cruel, you don't know the behavior or background history of this animal.
o0AquaDragon0o 6 months ago

Thats all anything needs regardless of where they are living.
o0AquaDragon0o 4 months ago
@o0AquaDragon0o You and I will never agree. I feel so strongly that foxes should not be bred for the pleasure of humans. Human can love them 'like their children' but they are NOT their 'children'. I know they were born in someone's house, but they shouldn''t have been. But then I've always hated zoos.
wendewellspring 4 months ago
@wendewellspring Well they are being bred and theres nothing we can do about it so theres no sense whining about it. The best we can do now is give them good homes so they dont end up in fur farms. Every argument you have against foxes you can say about every single other domestic animal we have, which were all once wild. For example, dogs. Zoo's also have a purpose more than just displaying animals. Some cant return to the wild because of injury. Some are bred for species protection. etc.
o0AquaDragon0o 4 months ago

All that matters
o0AquaDragon0o 4 months ago
@wendewellspring Re your statement that the people who keep foxes as pets treat them as their children: I feel sorry also, for the children of the people who 'own' the fox in the video if they keep them outside on bare paving with just a basic shelter against the weather.
wendewellspring 4 months ago
@o0AquaDragon0o I feel sorry for the children of the people who 'own' the fox in the video if they are also kept on bare paving with just a basic shelter. By the way, I support my local Animal Rescue Charity. While not every animal can be returned into the wild, many can be, are treated for their injuries and then are gently rehabilitated back into their natural habitat.
wendewellspring 4 months ago
@wendewellspring you see one angle in this video? maybe thats the pen for when guests come over n are being introduced to him ....there's maybe 5 acre of garden behind that camera full of lush green grass for all you know......seriously idiots who dont think beyond what is put in front of them scribbling comments like tht? thank god theres smarter people in the world cause if people like you were in charge the world would still be flat n the earth the centre of the universe.....clown

@controlledsmiles Well, if you can't comment without calling people insulting names, I can totally discount your puerile remarks.
wendewellspring 4 months ago
@wendewellspring haha whao ...out of all tht you only took away with you "idiot" and "clown" and not the actual lesson....it just seems you've been out gunned n had no actual defense to your original comment being niave and ignorant ....
controlledsmiles 4 months ago
@controlledsmiles You are the ignorant one. I care only for foxes in the wild and I support a local charity that rescues injured foxes, and, where possible, introduce them back into their natural habitat. That to me shows true love and respect for these beautiful wild animals. Whereas you lot 'want one' - spoiled brats that you are.
wendewellspring 4 months ago
@wendewellspring who wants one? my comments arent even about the fox itself, its about how you made an assumption based on nothing....on a camera angle if ANYTHING, that is pretty much the defenition of ...ignorant, and spoiled brat ...your stamping your feet and just aiming ur views at me....i dont want a fox, never said that once ....you sure you replied to the correct comment or was that aimed at another video of someone looking after an animal....the bad ol bastards they are,
controlledsmiles 4 months ago
It seems theres things people in these comments lack understanding. Sure, it is wrong to keep wild animals, born and raised in the wild, as pets. HOWEVER.
If you are responcible and know how to care for wild animals and their specific needs, adopting a fox if it can no longer survive in the wild (and you're legally able to do so) is perfectly fine. You're saving it from a horrible death, and that is wonderful. As someone studying as a vet tech I highly support it if you know what your doing.

bibi14930 6 months ago
@bibi14930 Why should one suffer and not the other? Why shouldn't they both be left alone without any harm being brought on to either of them?
vTANKv 6 months ago
@vTANKv because then the overpopulation of both species will disrupt the natural order, many species of rare bird are bought to near extinction because of cats and foxes. It's because of humans that foxes live in unnatural places (eg, red foxes were bough to Australia by English settlers so that they could hunt those foxes for sport) so it's the humans responsibility to make sure that they are kept under control.
