the ghost has to be real because it would have passed through the gates (which are always locked when they are closed) and the blind corner to the left is not big enough to hide someone that tall. it's a real ghost cause that school is creepy

I think he said "It skipped", referring to his video camera skipping before he put it through the gate.

If he mentions that it skipped and his camera is going awkward, then it is highly unlikely that they edited or doctored the footage.

The light in the corridor is just caused by angles. I've looked at that angle before and if you get it right, the light from the background can easily reflect through the window. Also what was up with him tripping or something at the end?

i agree with lyman0, there is a blind spot on the corner, perfect for someone to hide in while the video people pretended he wasn't there. The disrupting on the camera can easily be by someone hitting it or they took some scenes out using the computer, either way it really has to be an old camera.

Secondly, when the person/ghost/figure or whatever you guys think it is walks out the second time, just before the caged door theres a blind sight on the left in the corner and there is a door just before you walk into that little entrance which is opened like half a meter - would easily be able to fit just behind it and it is completely pitch black so would be impossible to see him.... good set up but not good enough -.-

When he says "i think i just saw someone" on 0:38, the other guy has a really fake reaction to that and says "no you didnt just get on with it", if that happened to you, you just wouldnt say that you would say something like "where" or "where did he go" or something, his reaction is to fake especially when hes so worried about not being aloud in the school, it would make him extra suspicious of what he saw..

When you went to the closed gate, you didn't look at the area to the left, behind you in the dark area by the gate. You ran right past that spot without looking at it.

I'm going to have to say this is fake, but my god, it's well done. I attend Niwot, but I can't tell who these people are. But it seems to be a guy in a ski mask or face wrap. If it's fake, he either is in the blind corner near the gate(not through it), or walked into the door across the chior room door(which you can't see if it is open or closed until they pass it). The door could easily be closed before they get there, especially with all the noise from running there.

You should get your facts straight. There are two versions of the Niwot ghost.

1. Sometime between 1972 and 1979, a child in the basement was supposedly killed by the janitor. The basement was backfilled and the entrance was disguised and the ghost now haunts the lower hall by the freshman staircase.

Your ghost was not a child and you were in the upper hallway by the music rooms/old auditorium.

that is a good point i have heard that version of the story, but i did not hear about the other one from 1981-1983. i actually heard a different version from my older brother when he went to school there, that a student fell off the railing of the senior pit and broke his neck, right before his graduation.

Hmm. I haven't heard that one. When did it happen? You know, the senior pit used to be twice as big as it is now; the staircase was put in in 1977 to ease congestion on the front stairs (which at that time were a set of ramps). It used to be just a balcony all the way across.

i don't know the year; i'll haf to ask my brother. i know he mentioned that it was kids screwing around and the one kid fell and got hurt and the other kids were afraid to help hi. then one of the faculty found him and called ambulance. i think he mentioned that the kids ewre doing a senior prank at the time and thats why the were hesitant to help.

but i was wondering what you think about that - it is interesting that he's got some sort of mask or maybe a scarf on...i was looking at the video frames and it looks like theres a tail end near his neck. maybe it is wrapped around his head i dunno, but it intrigues me that this ghost does not look like the stereotypical see-thru ghost, so i wonder if ther4e is a chance it could be real.

i keep trying to find out who it is, do you have any idea who recorded it or who was with him?

It may have been staged, or it may have been another student who also wasn't supposed to be in the building.

It's interesting about the gate. It is true that if the "ghost" had closed it behind him, there would have been a loud noise because those rusty old gates squeak.

He didn't enter the doors to the right or left of the gate; it would have been obvious from the video.

3 -start of the video, notice where they are? they are coming out the hallway to te small gym. and the gate are closed and that one sign is out, so this must have been recorded during a sports game. since custodians don't work on martin luther king holiday (they say the video was recorded on jan 21) the only other people it could be are a parent or student.

so i think their story sounds legit, but you mentioned it may have been staged, so they must either be really good, or its real.

i was wondering what you think about his face. i cannot see any eyes or any detail as to where there woulld be any eyes or shadows which would show some form. it creeps me out. these guys either tricked us really good or they have something legit here.

There wasn't a game, because there would have been noise coming from the gym.

The footage is two blurry to see the guy's eyes.

that is a good point to bring up. as far as i cansee,the footage is to handheld and shaky to have such a clean 'ghost' doctored in the video. i've seen other niwot kids videos and their low quality so i doubt they would have the knowdlege or technololgy to do something so enhanced. as far as i can tell, the person and the surroundings arent enhanced, but other parts of the video maybe. do you see anything in the video that could have been doctored, that im not seeing?

There were a couple of skips in the video, with cuts in the audio and split-second blackouts. So it may be that there were scenes added or deleted or redone.

u know, i noticed that and i tried to see if that was the case. when it jumps, the framing of the shot it exactly the same so it cant be scenes added or deleted. but i don't see the full frame blackout- do you mean the video goes fully black for a frame or two? where is that at?

hey i thougt of somethig too - what if they cut out the sound of the gate closing? do you think there would be enough time for the ghost to open the gate, then close it behind him, and get away? it takes 6 seconds..

Cutting out the sound of the gate closing seems most likely. It is impossible to tell from the video if the gate was locked or not.

the school confirms that there was a niwot youth sports game in the small gym on jan21st from 3:30-5. so the gates would have been locked.

could someone on tech crew have a key to the gates?

the video skips when he tries to push and pull the camera through the gate. he might have banged it trying to get it through. does that happen wih digital cameras? because i know it happens with tape cameras. do you think that's what it was recorded on? it'd be easy to edit a digital camera but maybe hard to edit a tape one.
