  • I have never seen more than 1 hummer at my feeder. If another comes it will get chased away.

  • Adorable!

  • WOW!!!!!!!

  • At 35 seconds it looks as if that bird has a tag on it?

    Great Video !

  • awww thats great

  • Awe! You have one of the best videos on youtube about hummingbirds that I've seen. They are so cute!

  • beautifule

  • Amazing video. How long have you been able to have the hummingbirds land on you?

  • @graymen699 They'll stay on your hands for as long as they are eating the food, sometimes 10 seconds, sometimes up to a minute. :)

  • lol 1:15 did you hold the camera with your face?

  • @CowieMooCowxo87 Nope, was just zooming in lol. :)

  • Holy moley

  • Hummingbirds are such amazing creatures(:

  • they're so itty-bitty :3

  • bless it...how sweet

  • lol so cute!!!!!! *wipes tears*

  • @Joysquigglesparkles ......??

  • @ILIKEGOINGPOOPIE432 sometimes people tear up when they are "touched", overwhelmed or extremely happy. Hope you experience the good type of tears some day. It's the best.

  • @Joysquigglesparkles HEHEHHEHE I LIKE GOING POOP AHAHAHAWWWWW!

  • Wow. I did the Exact same thing outside Lillooet one year just past Lytton. Most beautiful places on earth exist in BC, Canada. Love and light my friend.

  • @mordsith05 Small world, I live halfway between Lillooet and Lytton. This year hasn't seen the amount of hummers we usually get but I think it's because our weather has been a lot cooler than normal.

  • Seriously, I'll trade my mosquitoes for humming birds, ANYDAY!!

  • I was amazed to see the one i filmed stick her tongue out and actually saw her gulp down the sugar water. They are beautiful and amzing creatures. nice vid.

  • It's super cool how they eat. I saw a video in Biology that had a close-up and slowed down shot of them feeding. They have these tiny forked tongues that lap up the water.

  • That was awesome!

  • what do you put in there?honey?

  • @automaticchic No never honey, just sugar and water.

  • awesome! the ones around here fight with each other so I put up two in different areas.

  • thats a whole lot of hummingbirds...

  • cuuuuuuuuuuuuuttttttttttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • so jealous!

  • Very good video. I put up my first feeder and love seeing the birds flying around.

  • omgosh there r some many of them u are very lucky we think the few that we have around our yard r just marvolious....we love 2 just sit and watch them, I would love to have one sit on my finger. Thanks 4 sharing this.

  • how lucky you are to have so many and so many different kinds. I never get to see a rufous in my part of the country.

  • God Bless them xoxo

  • So......... whatcha got in that feeder?lololol

  • oh my god, that is sooooo sweet! ♥

  • Thanks for your advise! I will certainly plant more hummingbird friendly plants too!

  • I also have 40-50 hummingbirds at my feeders at once. Isn';t it wonderful to sit and watch! Have rescued a few from in the house and the back shed. They just sit ever so still and let you take them out! It is almost time for the first one to come and buzz me when I am out reading on the verandah, that it's feeder time. Have fifteen feeders of all sizes, mostly the large glass ones, and just bought two more. Where did you find the ones with the flowers standing up from the base?

  • @crackerjacks46 Yes it's getting to be that time, for the last two years in a row we had them show up about the third week in April. I bought the feeder at Wal-Mart. :)

  • @kansasa1 Thank you! yes, it was around the third week in April last year. Had some new colours last year, white and green! Time to stock up on sugar! :)

  • @crackerjacks46 I usually buy the big bag at Costco, i think it's well over 50 lbs and it lasts for a bit. :)

  • They are so cute.

  • Best catertainment ever! My cat watched both your hummingbird videos over and over. She tried pawing and biting the screen. She would have climbed into the screen if she could. (Fortunately for the birds, she can't.) Kitty says thank meow very much.

  • @tunghoy LOL! Good one, glad your cat liked it! :)

  • Umm. Where do you live?

Not in a creepy way, I just want to know where in the world I can see so many amazing creatures at once!

  • @alishaisnotaface I live in Lillooet BC Canada. :)

  • We like this video. It was cool! We liked watching them drink. Was that sugar water? How did you catch the hummingbird in the house? Can they be pets? From Mme Turgeon's students Tiana and Ramy

  • @turgeon203

    Hi Tiana and Ramy,

Yes it's sugar water. I get lots of hummingbirds during the season and when my doors and windows are open they often fly in the house. Most of them fly out again but some go for our windows and get trapped so we help them get out by catching them. I don't think you can keep one for a pet but one time I found an injured one and kept him overnight, my daughter named him Harvey. We let him go after a few days and he flew off. :)

  • I like this v

  • My cat loves this show.

  • That is so cool! How do you get so many? I've only seen one at a time! What's your secret?

  • that is unbelievable, so many at one spot. Heheee, if they come back every year you have probably names for them :))

  • wow, u got to hold the one inside that found its way in your house, it was so relaxed it almost looked dead

  • OMG! you are so blessed! We have the odd one fly in our area. I have planted many vines and plants that attract them, but we still only get a few. Good for you and thank you for sharing!

  • @pateho How many feeders do you have? We have one in the front yard and one out back (out of sight from each other to avoid food competition); I have also planted plants that hummers like: Hibiscus, Petunia, Fountain plant, Scarlet sage, and others to make my 4/10ths acre property more inviting. We don't get high numbers of them, but I have seen at least 3 at one time...the most at a feeder were 2 but they get into scuffles.

  • They remind me of golden snitches

  • Wow, there were so many hummingbirds! The most I've ever seen here is two or three together. But, ah, they're so pretty. :)

  • hey... wats with the heavy breathing....?... birds must be getting you pretty breathless.... damn...!!!

  • I wish I was there!!!

  • @1339LARS ditto

  • @1339LARS Me too,i have always wondered on the life of the hummingbird..

  • humming birds are sooooooooooooooooo cute i love them!

  • this video is so awesome of the hummingbird up close...just love those little guys...they are a wonder. Thanks for sharing.

  • wooW!!!!!

they're really indredible, i love them

  • amazing and beautiful!

  • Wow you're lucky, i baerly see 1 every like year :/ i wish there were more around here :(

  • HI, great video. Would you know why I can't get any hummingbirds? My feeder has been hanging in my yard for months and the ants keep eating the sugar water. I live on Long Island, NY. thanks

  • @5277407 How do you clean the feeder? I've read that they're very sensitive to soap... so don't use soap or rinse *very* thoroughly. Or maybe they don't like your water... there's info online that can help. They'll starve before eating food with too much bacteria, so change it at least once a week.

And find a way to keep the ants out.

  • @ghuegel HI Thanks for your reply. I only rinse out the feeder with cool water from the kitchen tap. I live in New York so we are suppose to have the highest standards for drinking water, but maybe the humming birds don't like New York water. The feeder is hanging from and old maple tree in my yard so not sure how to deal with the ants.

  • @5277407 From what I've read, the hummingbirds won't eat food that can harm them, and they're sensitive to things we don't know about... so I don't know. Also, if there are no natural flowers around, they might not find your feeder. The wrong sugar level will also deter them... from Google... 1 part sugar to 4 parts water. And they eat bugs... a banana peel might attract insects which might attract birds, but only if they're nearby.

  • @ghuegel I'm going to mix a new batch of nectar according to your instructions. I've been using package mix nectar with the red dye in it. Thanks so much for your reply. I have plenty of sunflowers and flowers that attract all kinds of bugs. I also put out a little bird bath for them.

  • Amazing. I get excited if I have 2 birds at a time at my feeder. :)

  • lucky

  • This was amazing to watch! Looks like they have a wonderful place to call home! :)

  • i wanna hold one! lol

  • WOW!!! Creation/Design at its finest!!!!

  • Wow, amazing experience, thank you for sharing! I get one, maybe two, at a time, so your FLOCK is a sight to behold!!!

  • Wow! Swarm is the right word. Just amazing. Thanks for posting.

  • Hay wow es el vídeo mas lindo que veo hasta ahorita, están preciosos, que buen acercamiento con estos lindos animalitos, son bellisimos!!!

  • Love that, thanks. They are so sweet and delicate. What do you put in the feeder?

  • wow!

  • Awesome :)

  • great video

  • strange that they can fly backwards

only bird in the world that can do it

  • haha that is so cool!!

  • like giant bees

  • Too much fun!!!

  • Wundervoll ...

  • Absolutely beautiful and amazing!!

  • Just wonderful. You are so fortunate to have a variety that comes in groups like this - our California Anna's Hummingbirds are one-at-a-timers. Even the feeders for sale here just have one access point.

  • very beautiful birds and you have a good presence if those kinda birds come around you aho!!!! the cheif has spoken!!!!!

  • I love your video..thanks!

  • You need to clean the tip where the birds get their drinks from i see mold.

I have 4 of those walmart feeders. I permanently took off the flowers and yellow tips to make it easy to clean.

Get a few of those doubled sided cotton swabs and put one into a drill using it as a drill bit. get the cotton wet and drill it into the feeding hole. Go all the way down if the cotton falls off break off a piece of coat hanger so you have a 3" metal piece and drill that into the hole to get out the cotton.

  • I pop the whole thing apart and put it in the dishwasher, even though it looks like it doesn't come apart if you pull hard enough it will. The black you see is from the birds themselves because I don't think mold grows in less than 24 hours, sometimes 12, that's about how often I refill and clean the feeders in heavy feeding season. But thanks for the tips. :)

  • 0:42 it looks like there is black inside of the tip.

But if you say they are clean, i believe you could be the angle or shadow.

You should shut the door so they do not fly inside the house or move the feeders so they do not fly inside.

they hit their heads on the ceiling over and over again not good.

also a person could get a felony if caught with a humming bird in California even owning one feather is a felony.

very nice video and thanks for sharing.

  • that is so amazing!!!! stunning little birds!!!

  • lucky lucky you

  • so many hummers!! time to get more feeders xD

  • wow didnt know u can get that close let alone hold one. lol everytime i see them they are like lil s.s.4 goku's just to fast lolz

  • holy freaking cow.. look at all of those.. wow. I get about 5 of them.. but that is amazing..

  • All of your hummingbird videos are absolutely awesome!

  • wow, nice!

I have idea, you should make a hat like that, so they can follow you! hehe!

  • dude, like you better hope you dont get like somekind of hummingbord flu dude.

  • Very nice video. I love to have them sit on my hand too. What a thrill !!

  • ahahah! that is so awesome!

  • jajaja that's an ufo you see jeje

  • WOW!!! - I've always wanted to hear them and now I finally have!!! - They're as small as your thumb! How INCREDIBLE!!! I wish we had them here in Australia!

  • There's nothing more mind-blowing than watching a hummingbird. You should come to America, just so you may see one in real life.

  • You're welcome :)

  • Wow, you've got a swarm going there. Are those mostly female ruby throats?

  • I think it's a mixture of two different hummingbirds, the Rufous and the Calliope. The Ruby Throats only go as far over as Alberta but maybe a few might fly into BC occasionally :)

  • Thanks for reply. The only ones we have consistently in Virginia are Ruby Throats. The Calliope looks similar to the female Ruby. We don't get this type of action at our feeder since a male Ruby guards it constantly. Several females distract him (on the chase) and other dive in for a sip. He doesn't fly off when we walk by the feeder, nor does he pay any attention to the other birds that land by "his" feeder.

  • i was at my aunts camp today and they did that so i went outside and tried but its freaky to bee around them cause there so fast and it looks like there gonna fly right into you but they cany stop instantly its so freaky and cool

  • where is lillooet?

  • About 3.5 hours from Vancouver BC heading for Kamloops. If you get to Lytton take highway 12 and it's about an hour from there.

  • This is awesome! How did it find its way into your house? And most importantly, how did you manage to catch it? One managed to get stuck in our garage, and we had a hard time catch it. We were afraid it would die from exhaustion.

  • I have my doors and windows open and most times they fly in and fly out. Sometimes they fly into the window and I manage to slide them down, calm them, and gently pick them up and carry them over to the window. Other times they land on my hand and I walk over to the door and let them fly off.

  • Splendid video. How sweet those little guys are! Sheer beauty here. And how small and fragile! Lilliput birds :) Thank you for posting this one. It's GREAT! Congrats. Keep up the good work.

  • Thanks schiriac :) I just got another camera today so I'll be posting some more video in the near future.

  • HOW CUTE OMFG THIS IS SOOOOOOO AWESOME !!!!! AHH i wish they were at my house !

  • wow its easy.

    and what about the colour?

  • Sometimes I leave it colourless, other times I put in a couple of drops of food colouring, any colour. I've read that food colouring isn't good for them and other sites say it's okay, not sure who to believe.

  • what do you feed them with?

i mean what is in the bottle?

  • I make up a big batch of water and sugar. I use roughly 6 cups of sugar per 15 cups of water, give or take a bit and store it in the fridge. It doesn't take them long to go through it :)

  • @kansasa1 The ratio should be 1 part sugar to 4 parts water...or 1 part sugar to 3 parts water. Roughly using 2 parts sugar to 5 parts water give or take a bit is too much for the birds and eventually will make them sick.

  • Wow - that's a serious swarm of birds!

  • such beautiful , amazing creatures!

    i loves them

  • We have a cabin in WV where we get hummingbirds like this - they eat so fast you can sit and watch the feeder bubble - yet I've never gotten footage as clear as this - wonderful !!!

  • How do you attract SOOOOO many humming birds!!!

  • My glory! you are so lucky to have so many around you. I have never seen a humming bird in real life.

  • You're welcome Maayida, I hope to put up more this year. Another month and we should be seeing the hummers again :)

  • I hope I can enjoy the same experience at least once in my life. Thanks a lot for the video. Kind regards from Spain.

  • The part where the little bird is carried out of the house is SO precious!<3

  • I wish there were that many hummingbirds out here lol.

My mom keeps a feeder in the front yard durring Summer but we see them once in a blue moon lol :)

  • Thank you from Denver, CO. K

  • 不错,有意思

  • Thanks sdlizhen456, if google translator is right you said "good, interesting."

  • Yes, you are right!

  • I am impressed! You attract so many hummers at one time. and so many varieties. On East Coast we only have one type. Nice to see others. I especially love the hummer sitting on your thumb!

  • WOW - AMAZING!! I myself feed the hummingbirds each year, but I have never had so many at one time. Thanks for sharing! I really enjoyed this..

  • great video! amazing that they just fly around you. it looks like the food you are giving them has a yellow coloring (or maybe the glass bottle is yellow?). The best thing you can feed them is just a mix of water and regular sugar (a 4 to 1 ratio water to sugar works well). it's not good for them to consume food coloring. keep up the great work of feeding them and sharing your videos! hummers are amazing little guys.

  • ME DAN GANAS DE ATRAPAR UNOO!

  • Son realmente la luz en la mano y hermoso para celebrar. Espero que mi traducción está bien :)

(They are really light in your hand and beautiful to hold. I hope my translation is okay)

  • My five year old son wanted to learn about hummingbirds and we found this while exploring - he thinks this is amazing!!! me too! =)

  • Wow! And to think I'm not certain if I've ever really even seen one. Lucky you! Thanks for sharing.

  • Very good thank you for sharing,

  • Just beautiful! Thank you for filming this! You must have worked hard to develop their trust like this! Well-done!

  • Sweet to say the least! Peace♥

  • Cool... especially the hummingbird landing right on his hand! Gotta love 'em.

  • ZOOM! Hummingbirds needs an almost constant intake of nectar (pure sugar) to support their ultra fast metabolisms :3

They're adorable though, and so fun to watch! My neighbors has a few of them :p

    Excellent video!

  • Absolutely beautiful. Thankyou for posting this. Awesome to say the least.

  • That was truly something to see.... wow... is all I can say. How lucky you are to be witness to this - so glad you posted this!

  • Very beautiful vid...i just was introduced to how beautiful they are, i spotted one in my backyard chicago, unbelievable!! I was just amazed at their size and how hover :)

  • Wow! I never realized how small they were! I don't think they are really around where I live. Thanks for the neat vid!

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish "stinker" would let me get close to him like that! He is my bird commando. He will not share! He runs off all the other birds! But i love him!

  • LOL that one little guy at the beginning was like, "COME ON!!! SHARE WITH ME!"

  • I always thought that these birds only lived in Mexico or Brazil, but I never knew that they were in Canada as well until now. I used to want one as a pet when I was a kid, but now, I think they are better off in the wild.

Your video was very beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

  • Awesome! LOVE hummers!!!!!!

  • Woww.... beautiful and special birds.. I would love to see one !

  • I wanna take a field trip to your house to see them live, that's cool man!

  • Great video!

  • great stuff!

  • that was just the coolest thing i've seen

  • you're enchanted

  • good video..i live in pennsylvania and we have the rubythroated

  • how long did it take till they swarm like that

  • After I see the first one it's usually about two weeks and they get pretty thick. It's now July and they have dwindled down quite a bit, I'm filling the main feeder about every two days instead of twice a day.

  • ok thx

  • Thanks Sabot46290!

The most common we get are the Rufous ones. We also get the Calliope Hummingbird.

    Thanks for the comment :)

  • I enjoyed your video, and my jaw just dropped at 1:07! I don't think I've ever seen such a swarm of hummers like that! Wonderful video, and I'm glad you were able to get the one out of your house OK. Are those all ruby-throats or does BC have different species? That's pretty much all we have where I live.
