This was a hoax video made by slicing in copies of a RC plane and real aircraft. The type of aircraft has a monotube from one wing to the other, the pilot would die from G forces before the wing broke. The landing gear would have broke for sure. This had the public fooled something big for a long time, the authors did a great job of splicing video.

He had enough to bring it down and slow it down. The flip at the end was a combination of skill and luck. He kept his head and used all the tools he had available. This is an absolute fake. As you may be aware, the purpose of a wing is to produce an upward force (lift). If an aircraft loses its right wing, the remaining left wing will continue to produce lift and cause the aircraft to roll quite rapidly to the right. As you can witness from the video, the aircraft rolled left. I believe much of this is actual footage with the wing edited out. The transition to landing is conveniently blurred. Fake. Fake. Fake.

#2 it is possible (at least with RC aircraft) Requires an overpowered engine/prop setup & lots of control surface deflection. In a high alpha sit. wings are not providing lift, ailerons provide minimal control (barely enough to counter toque roll), craft is directed by rudder & elevator mostly.

A guy really DID something like that, though. His wing spar broke. The wing folded up vertically, held on only by the upper skin. He rolled inverted, which made the wing flop back down to horizontal again.  He made his approach while inverted, and then just above the runway he flipped it back rightside-up and landed it on the wheels. What you just saw may be fake, but it's theoretically possible. It ain't over 'till it's over.
