I've seen a few people discussing the "first smartphones", what times they were released, what OS's there were, who developed them, etc. I would say to correctly argue this statement you would have to first define the term "Smartphone". In a relative aspect when the IBM Simon was released in 1993 for public sale it was top of the line. In the 1990's was their smartphones. To say that the iPhone was the first smartphone is silly. It mainstreamed smartphones at best.
Are you really that dumb? Apple makes the hardware as well. So they can only update so often. Android world has all manufactures and they all pump out new models often.
This is like Windows vs. Apple. Windows destroyed apple because it could be installed by any OEM, not just apple. Android fills this void in the smartphone area. An OEM can make a phone and put android on it. Boom, there ya go.
If any of you idiots understand computer hardware...Bigger the screen requires more resolution which by the way takes up more VRAM on the gfx card/ built in graphics on the processor thus using up the amount of Vram available slows down the devices's FPS (my theory) . I believe that Apple chooses the appropriate screen size based on hardware specifications to have the best experience. However, I do like that cute green robot.

if you root, since android is opensource, developers can add custom kernels and such to your device making it even faster, so if even if your manufacturer stops providing updates, the community can still update it to the newest version of android if anyone is still using the device. Does this happen on iOS? No. If apple discontinues it, it just gets discontinued.

Facts: Iphone has a jailbreak which will give you an option for instollous and crackulous, Andriod does not. Iphone has crazy amounts of peripherals that can work with it (like wii controllers), android does not. Iphone can do everything droid can because of dedicated non paid development team (i-dev and others), droid does too but those developers cant make it run on every single model flawlessly (i.e. angry birds). Iphone 1 can still play newer games without a hitch, now say that of droid ^_^

@TheVegaschamp the fourth generation iPod touch has a built in Microphone so I believe f Google talk works on it and the older one would require an external microphone. I did not say that the iPod touch had the same exact OS but a modified OS of the iPhone. I know about instalous but that requires a jailbreak and you don't even have to root an Android to install cracked apps. Generally warrenties don't cover that kind of damage.

Oh yeah the warranty cost is 6 - 10 bucks a month extra. The moral story here is that we are all suckers..It's a corporate world. Both are great..but 1 as a little bit more advantanges over the other when it comes to specific items and vice versa.

if you root, since android is opensource, developers can add custom kernels and such to your device making it even faster, so if even if your manufacturer stops providing updates, the community can still update it to the newest version of android if anyone is still using the device. Does this happen on iOS? No. If apple discontinues it, it just gets discontinued.

Facts: Iphone has a jailbreak which will give you an option for instollous and crackulous, Andriod does not. Iphone has crazy amounts of peripherals that can work with it (like wii controllers), android does not. Iphone can do everything droid can because of dedicated non paid development team (i-dev and others), droid does too but those developers cant make it run on every single model flawlessly (i.e. angry birds). Iphone 1 can still play newer games without a hitch, now say that of droid ^_^

@TheVegaschamp the fourth generation iPod touch has a built in Microphone so I believe f Google talk works on it and the older one would require an external microphone. I did not say that the iPod touch had the same exact OS but a modified OS of the iPhone. I know about instalous but that requires a jailbreak and you don't even have to root an Android to install cracked apps. Generally warrenties don't cover that kind of damage.

There are also lots of other apps like Installous on the Android. I know how the Jailbreak process works, Jailbreaking is something I can not live without on iOS. fun thing iphone run's on the worste processors ever i bought the iphone 4 and i put my HTC Sensation System in it and it lagged like hell, but the htc dosn't lagg with it

@MrBananaCast Of course it's gonna run slower, it's using a single core processor. Compare it to an iPhone 4S you'll likely see much better results.
