pretty epic. just because of where you were. By the way that is a massive wave. Japan and Indonesia were fucking super monsters its not fair to compare
@MrsClippit because 1st of all, the tsunami on Alii drive was not as massive as the guy taping it made it out to be. YES, it caused damage but not on an "ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE" scale.. And then, with the British accent, it was funny.. So what... I was just sayin'....
Dont be so scared you guys we have so many of these mini tsunamis in hawaii all the time. And barely anybody dies. It's not like Japan. It's like mini Clifornia earthquakes, or kansas tornadoes.
Dick head,..go to Japan where thousands of people died and then you will know how massive it was... oh you are stranded ?...poor thing ..shall I wipe your ass?
I have just lost my shoes? WTF you fkn idiot - you didnt hear the sirens blaring all night in Kona? Yes it is unbelievable that you thought it was cool to go down to the waters edge that day, what a brave tourist
Everybody has seen the terrible tragedy that has happened to Japan. And of course, it's obviously not as near bad as what had happened to Japan. But seeing out power plants and harbors, are by the ocean, we are just being prepared. For the past years there has been an increase in these tragedies and seeing that all of them are happening in the Ring of Fire, and Hawai'i is right in the middle of it, we just want to be prepared for anything that comes our way.
That's definitely an O'shit moment right there. Give the guy some credit though, at least he had the common sense to stand next to a tree. There are thousands of cases of people surviving tsunamis simply by climbing a palm tree.
I would like to see your comments after the picture of the baby walking low tide in the maui news... ahh people take chances... I would never do that, thank god crazy people. :P
Why the fuck are people abusing him, when he had only done is risking his life and doing his job!!!! and believe me, its not everyone's cup of tea....
Wait so you're one of the idiots that hears a big tsunami is coming and goes to the beach? Some role model.. Hey look at me, I'm ok! Come do what I do!
Smart place to stand?? One broken door and a little sand on the floor, but he will need all the resources of the government ,insurance companies, etc. I hope his neihbors show some love!
the comments from this "reporter" are so ridiculously hyperbolic that he should be forced to watch Clockwork Orange style some real tsunami devastation from Sendai, Jpn or Banda Aceh Indonesia from "Boxing Day" tsunami. Then he might begin to realize that losing his slippers is pretty inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.
The recorder is so stupid... Atleast if you risk your life you should do it for $100million or something.. and this guy does it to share a video for free. Atleast try sell the footage, if its even worth selling.
@ErnieCosmo Read the news, the earthquake in Japan generated the tsunami that struck Japan and other countries in the pacific including Hawaii. However by the time it reached Hawaii it was not strong enough to cause a lot of damage. You should follow up on the news!
Is there any way of really telling how massive the tsunami will be? People lost their lives in Japan standing too close so that they could film it. You were lucky. The wave just came in & left some fish & seafood as recompense for ruined merchandise.
@310socalifornia Because Hawaii is far enough from Japan that the waves were much smaller. This small wave that hit Kona, was the same wave that hit Japan. Just like ripples in a pond, the waves are MUCH larger close to the epicenter, and get smaller as they radiate outward. Though, to be fair to your point, even one foot of water can do serious damage and injure/kill people when it is moving like that. I certainly wouldn't have chosen that particular spot to stand. :P
its called trunami dumb ass so get your ass movin from it! And dont stand there like a dumb european.
