Ah yes...Mondays 7pm with the theme tune I'm most familiar with...nice memories...

One of the few programmes on ITV back then that didn't have commercials for a while...a far cry from today!!!!!

But, yeah used to love it. Something to look forward to Mondays, which were pretty dull back then!!!!!!!!!

Actually it was - the original mix of The Art Of Noise's 'Beat Box' was released as a single in 1984. It didn't do very well in the charts but became a big dance hit over in the USA.

I hated the final series of The Krypton Factor the revamp was a bad decision in my opinion that's because it was Wayne Garvie's idea to revamp The show.

Does anyone remember another game show that Gordon Burns hosted called Relatively Speaking it was a bit like the Krypton Factor but had a virtual reality element and was made by the BBC does anyone have clips of that they could upload?

I remember Relatively Speaking, and also A Word In Your Ear which Gordon Burns presented for the BBC. That Virtual Reality element could have been used for Response in The Krypton Factor.

Unfortunately I don't have any episodes of Relatively Speaking I'm afraid, or indeed the technology to upload from video/DVD (although I plan to invest in some in the future). I wouldn't mind seeing Relatively Speaking or A Word In Your Ear again though!

Not off the top of my head, although I think it may have been Granada (they made a few programmes for the BBC, University Challenge being one of them). Don't quote me on that one though.

Marian not only won the 1987 series, but also won the Champion of Champions edition of Krypton in May 1989 - haven't seen that but would certainly love to!

Why was Alison Heath in the Champion of Champions show? By the way, I wish they would bring the Krypton Factor back so I could go on it and finally win the title "United Kingdom Superperson" and end the drought of never having a winner from Northern Ireland! Now that really would be something!

Alison was the International Champion (from what I've read up on). Did the show never have a Northern Irish champion? Even in the earlier series?

Unfortunately no they didn't. As far as I know in the champion of champions special Marian won and Alison Heath came second. Marian Chanter won after the General Knowledge went to sudden death. Dr Andrew Gillam came third and David Lee came fourth.

The full version of the Krypton Factor Theme tune appears on one of the radio stations in the PSP game "Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories" and another Art of noise theme song appears on another station in the game (Moments in love).

Yeah I saw it, Malcolm Cannon I guess would have won the award for fastest male on the assault course if only they had kept presenting that award (I really don't understand why they stopped presenting that 1989 onwards). The '90s assault course was good, an improvement on safety at least but also perhaps more visually striking.

I'd love to see the Jackass Crew(Chris Pontius and Steve-O) do the Krypton Factor assault course. That would be brilliant! Just imagine the crazy stuff they would do on it!

It was funny during the Trophy Presentation in the 1987 final when Gordon Burns mentioned Imran Khan being a pin up, Marian Chanter giggled. She must have had a crush on him!

Yes she did, and then she came second (to Marian Chanter) in the grand final.

I noticed that the contestant introductions were pre-taped and re-used for the group and grand finals.

The 1988 series had the best contestant introductions - especially for the group finals; "I'm... ...I won my heat with a Krypton Factor of e.g. 44", instead of just "I'm the winner of Heat 1" from 1989 onwards.

And in the 1990 and 1991 series, the announcer introduced the contestants showing clips of them doing the assault course, except for the group finals where the contestants introduced themselves in a pre-taped recording on the assault course.

This is the best opening sequence to the Krypton Factor. I love that flashing red dot with the rays shining out of it! Why did they do away with that in 1989? That was a fantastic effect!
