I was born in Korea and lived in Seoul as a bi-racial child of an older Korean mother and army dad. Was very sheltered but was allowed to go to a little upstairs studio in Seoul with a dance instructor that would allow me to watch and when the older Korean ladies left, to perform. Will never forget the kindness of that instructor to a dirty little street urchin. I still remember 45 years later and a continent away this Samgo-Mu and also the Dance of the Dolls. Made a huge impact in my life

Actually Korean Drumming is not for girls but they used the drums in War the men would play the drums in battel !

All the dances we dance are very new traditional dances.. They are not just for religious, spiritual or ritual reasons, more for entertaining the audience, I think..

Probably that's why there are so many drumming women?
