When i was kid i grew up to this my dad played it all the time this is truely amazing its a little like Final fantasy!!!! Good games and a little harry potter agree'ing people'z????
I remember hearing this piece on the GPO website when it announced the winner. Just simply beautiful...listened to it so many times now. I think this might be one of the pieces that sparked my early interest into orchestral writing.
Hah, get over yourself. This was composed by an 18-yr old kid and that in and of itself is impressive. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to search for some of the award-winning masterpieces that you've surely created since you're such an expert.
If I recall, Richard did use Sibelius when writing this piece. However, I know that it was finessed in a sequencer to achieve this sound.
Sibelius may be powerful, but if you want to avoid having to type in the controller messages yourself, a sequencer may be the best bet for sculpting the sound.
In case you are curious, I personally use only Sibelius 4 and Garritan software (running in Kontakt 2) for my music.
pretty cool... apparently this won the grand prize for a Garritan composition contest... prize for the winners was to have their piece performed by the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra. That's a pretty awesome prize! If you go to Garritan's site, you can watch vids of the winners' live performances.
Garritan Personal Orch ROCKS as compared to Edirol Orchestral, believe me when I say I've converted to Garritan PO-costed me $300Australian dollars and I don't regret the purchase! Even the bands I orchestrate for say it sounds real to an actual orchestra
I find GPO to be the most well integrated, complete and affordable library. If you've got the money go for Vienna's stuff, but that'll cost you in the $10.000's if you want a complete library. This is a -more than- excellent 'in between'
is that GPO i heard on your channel? that stuffs great if it is. man i wish i had the money... i've been stuck with a crappy notation software for two damn long...
I'm thinking of buying it or having it for Christmas. It's £161.79 on Amazon. Still quite expensive but not like the new really professional looking ones which cost more than an expensive computer!
Is GPO easy to learn to use? It sounds very good from what I'm hearing. Plus there aren't many programs of this price which do crchestral instruments like this. Most are so poor, the synthesizers sound like early 90's keyboards!
well that convinced me to buy garritan! very nicely done! i'm getting it for sibelius 5... it says it needs 1+GB of ram, well i have 2GB of ram but it's cheap kingston value ram... do you think i'll be able to use it very good? how much ram do you have on your system when you run garritan? please let me know...
2GB should be fine, regardless of the ram maker. It's really the speed of the hard drive that supplies the GPO samples you need to consider. If you have a whole orchestra in a project, it can take a while when you load the project as every instrument is loaded off the disk into memory. A 5200rpm hard disk is usually fine.
haha yeah I know, he's a good mate of mine. Should look out for some of his other stuff, I've heard loads of his and it's amazing. Some of it is even better than this.
This is great... I think the breaths at the start are really well done! All it needs is better speakers on my behalf to see if the orchestra is well paned. And maybe some string rubbing sounds and more breaths with the room reverb. But Amazing! Specially putting it all in sync!

Naff composition, but Garritan Personal Orchestra is pretty good. I only payed £80 for it.
(That Lydian bit at 3:07 is just tasteless)
Shop around...

what annoys me about the midis that come with sonar 7 is no brass section and no world instruments and no choirs
anyone know where i can get some for free?
TheJawsusNSexmanShow 3 years ago

where can i hear this performed by a real orchestra? computer software will never live up to the sound of real musicians
mattparsons2 3 years ago
There should be a version on the Garritan website. For some reason, YouTube isn't letting me post links.

Sure go ahead, just make sure you know how to tweak the instruments to fit your needs.

Gary Garritan himself requested for me to put it on Youtube. I guess this helped save their servers during the recent Go-Round sale they had.

I think the credit for that should go to DPDAN (Dan Kury) for putting the video in sync with the music.
