Fraudsters CAN CLONE chip@pin.My OH has had his chip@pin card cloned. They took £1,700 from Barcleys bank ATM(In Cambridgshire)in 4 seperate transactions over a 2 week period.while the original card was safely at home(in another county)My husband has never given his card or pin to anyone,or used it in a cashpoint machine.Yet according to the credit card company the original card was the one used.One card cannot be in two places at once!Banks wont admit this goes on as they will lose millions £££
And that's why they get away with it, because they're smart bastards. These guys aren't your average bumbling house burglar, they know their stuff. If you purchased something from a shop, or restaurant, they can 'skim' the card to store it's information, or they can imprint it onto play-dough to preserve the CC details. That may be what happened to you. Sad to hear though!
