The thing about the Ants killing the guy in Crystal Skull is.....when I first saw this movie, I thought that was a very "Mummy" esque death, which in their own way were homages to the Indiana Jones movies, only not as well done, so in fact, it's an homage of an homage.
Also, Donovan wasn't propelled into teh wall because of the cup, if you look closely, you can see that Indy takes his arm and swats Donovan into the wall.

Indy is getting his ass kicked by this guy just because his voodoo doll is being tortured, but as soon as the doll gets free, Indy is fine and beats the crap out of this huge guy. It makes no sense and is ridiculously fake. Also, the pacing is off and the timing with the conveyor belt is terrible.

When I was 10 or 9 whatever I was in America got the videos of these films. Then got the DVD's about 7 years later only to see some of the death scenes were cut down and censored like no tomorrow! The heart scene being one of them!
Don't know if you know, but harrison ford was deathly ill when they shot the ciaro swordsman scene. Originally, he was supposed to have a sword fight with him, but they changed it to accomodate Harrison Ford. And thats why indy looks so genuinely exhausted.

I remember from childhood (I'm 37 now) that Shorty smashed Mola Ram in the face with a rock (when Indy was tied up by the Thugge chief), and also there being much more gore when the Thuggee chief got sqaushed. I was expecting the heart ripping / burning death scene to be one of the top 3 along with the guy that turns into a skeleton after drinking the wrong cup.
The thing I like about #1 is that is both completely unreaslistic and completely realistic all in the same scene. No way that dude survives having his heart ripped out but on the same hand he burst into flames before even hitting the lava which lava is hot enough that it can burn you just by being near it. EXCELLENT!
