I live in Holland and in my country bands like Savatage and f.e. also Laaz Rockit were extremely popular and did gigs in the 2nd half of the '80's every year and also sold quite some albums. Problem was and is, that Holland is a very minor player on the market.

@danophile I love Judas Priest but nothing on Screaming for Vengeance is as heavy as anything on Kill 'em All. Jesus we get it, Metallica are insanely popular, It doesn't mean that they weren't influential or important in heavy metals development

I had a Dead Winter Dead shirt on and people looked at me like I had 2 heads. Now Prelude To Madness is part of the TSO live set now, I was so expecting the opening riffs to Hall Of The Mountain King.

I feel so fortunate to have gotten to see Savatage front row at an 800 capacity club(Gothic) in Denver, CO back in the early 90's with Criss rockin' like a madman that night. Criss kept jokingly spiking down on the top of the my head with the head of his axe. Wish I had pics of him doing that with me in um. I'd treasure those as much as I treasure the memories of the entire show that night. The band was in top form and rocked the house hardcore along with Trouble and Sanctuary.\m/MOSH'n'METAL\m/
