The opening line of this song says it all "Thank You For The Days, Those Endless Days, Those Sacred Day You Gave Me" Anyone who has lost someone they truly loved or simply adored can relate to this.
such a beautifull heroine, pushing her son out of the way of a speedboat...... and taking it herself.......sooooooo sad....well said 14rnr.......sadly missed......xxxxxxxxxx
My mum passed away in 1991, and still, 'I bless the light that shines on you, believe me. And though you're gone, you're with me every single day, believe me...'
I'm so happy to see this. This was the first single I ever bought way back in 88(?). My mum and I used to listen to it. Both my mum and Kirsty are gone now but neither are forgotten.
@AcornsAndAntlers Kind of same situation ive been through this Xmas, first 1 without my Dad, and was thinking of playing this song, but the Kinks version at his funeral. Such a good and fitting song though.
I would like to dedicate this to an 11 year old girl called Courtney, who died on 19th September 2010 of an undiagnosed spinal tumour. She showed no symptoms of it until she woke up paralysed and was rushed to hospital. Tests showed the tumour to be wrapped around the length of her spine and emergency surgery was the only answer. She never recovered from the operation. For you Courtney, a beautiful smiling dancing girl. RIP
Seems like a lot of people have this at funerals I chose it for my Mums two years ago tomorrow she passed away. Shouldn't really be listening to this not sure why I do this to myself.
@blackbook90 because the lyrics sum your life with your mother :) it was played at my grandmothers funeral and every lyric and every note , just sums it up, hope you understand :) peace and love

This was originally a song by the Kinks, but she did a cover version later that blew it away. What makes it especially poignant is she died in a boating accident in 2000 in Mexico, trying to save her kids. Wonderful singer & songwriter of some songs that would surprise you.
Remember the good things in life is the message I'm hearing. The "Good Lord" brought her home and we "all" witnessed her many graces while she shared this Earth along with us. Never knew you personally K.M. but in my "mind's eye" you always will rank right up there with cheer.
Read the great Gatsby , especially the end and then you will never forget Kirsty, the incarnation of a gifted singer who had to die so early in life and a woman who could have achieved so much more..
I've always loved her music and always have to have a Kirsty track or ten handy on the laptop, in the car or at home. Happy, sad, a tad down, whatever- Kirsty seems to be the right stuff to put on. RIP
missed every day, Kirsty / part of my teenage years, an probably gave the best chrizzy song ever with the pogues, sorely missed, a heroin saving her sons to scum that too cowardly to show his face.
She was struck and killed by a large speedboat owned and captained by Guillermo Gonzalez Nova operating illegally in a restricted national park area near Cozumel, Mexico. Alleged liar and coward Nova has used his wealth and position to avoid prosecution to this day.
I want her to be my girlfriend. She has a great voice, looks pretty and has something that I find hard to articulate about her aura. She makes my heart rage, and then melt, and finally sink, as I will never meet her.
I cry when I hear this song. My dad liked Kirsty McColl and I remember when I was a kid hearing this on the radio a lot. He died last year and every time I hear it makes me happy and sad at the same time.
I love her too and I'm only 22!If you were 15 in 1994, that would make you 30! However, I remember my mom used to always play this song when I was a child and we used to dance around the kitchen with my dad too...now they are 'days i will remember all my life!' RIP Kirsty
