  • @psnapplebee - what a pathetic and sad individual you seem to be.

She showed no symptoms of it until she woke up paralysed and was rushed to hospital. Tests showed the tumour to be wrapped around the length of her spine and emergency surgery was the only answer. She never recovered from the operation. For you Courtney, a beautiful smiling dancing girl. RIP

  • for you mister x

  • This was originally a song by the Kinks, but she did a cover version later that blew it away. What makes it especially poignant is she died in a boating accident in 2000 in Mexico, trying to save her kids. Wonderful singer & songwriter of some songs that would surprise you.

  • beautiful song, helped me when my daughter passed

  • missed every day, Kirsty / part of my teenage years, an probably gave the best chrizzy song ever with the pogues, sorely missed, a heroin saving her sons to scum that too cowardly to show his face.

  • @soledivo

I knew she was hit and killed in Mexico by someone on a jetski but was he never brought to justice?

  • Comment removed

  • She was struck and killed by a large speedboat owned and captained by Guillermo Gonzalez Nova operating illegally in a restricted national park area near Cozumel, Mexico. Alleged liar and coward Nova has used his wealth and position to avoid prosecution to this day.

  • typical of rich people to hit and run

  • I want her to be my girlfriend. She has a great voice, looks pretty and has something that I find hard to articulate about her aura. She makes my heart rage, and then melt, and finally sink, as I will never meet her.

  • Why do all the greats die so young!!

  • i love kirsty maccoll. and i'm only 24.

    i liked her since i was 15 (1994)

cried when i heard the news on December 18th 2000.

    Rest in peace Kirsty, xxxxxxx

  • I love her too and I'm only 22!If you were 15 in 1994, that would make you 30! However, I remember my mom used to always play this song when I was a child and we used to dance around the kitchen with my dad too...now they are 'days i will remember all my life!' RIP Kirsty

  • I love her And I am only 19

The Legend that she was/IS will live on in all of our hearts I am sure!

  • Thank you.

    5*****.

  • Kristy ,whe haven't forgotten you.Rest in Peace.....

  • LUKE KELLY

  • this song made me cry when it was played on cutting it when alley died good song and brillant singer R.I.P

  • i have never heard this song before (any version) - i am a yank and it was not a hit here - and it is now my new fave song.

  • Reason it was never a hit was because it was written by ray davies of the kinks, the kinks were banned from the states for years, shame cos he's the greatest song writer ever.

  • why on earth would such a great song writer be banned? the prudes here didn't like a song about a crossdresser? sheesh.

  • Ray Davies is quite out spoken they appeared on a Dick Clark special for NBC without paying their mandatory dues to the American Federation of Television and Recording Artists. The upshot was the Federation blacklisted them although they never gave a specific reason as to why and the Kinks could not return to the States for over four years. When they returned to the states later he wrote lola which caused a little stink!! good luck to him i say what a leg.

  • Great cover

She sings it in a different key to the Kinks version

    Both are sublime

This is her most moving song, certainly. Listen to this on headphones!!

  • This song is reflectful.

Making me cry as my German friend goes back in a few days & this remainds me of her. The good memories I have of her.

  • You can still pledge support to get justice for Kirsty MacColl on her myspace site, the Mexican authorities still don't want to do that rich bloke for mowing her down in his speed boat and you in some small way can help and offer her mother your support

  • Ive been so long waiting for this. Thank you very much. Best The Days-Kinks cover!

  • What a fantastic voice, this woman was pure class. RIP Kirstly, you live on in your glorious songs. -x-

  • Brilliant cover of a great song, Kinks version is great in its own way aswell.
