I have info from a very reliable source (he was dead on in 2009 about everything about Sonic Boom from release date, style of the album, etc...) and he says that Monster is; "much heavier than you expect, hard riff orientated and melodic. Fans of King of the Mountain and Danger will be impressed - similar direction but much heavier, aggressive melodic tunes, after a listen will keep you humming for days." Great news! I know it's hard to believe this guy but trust me, he's always been right!

way i see it: Sonic Boom gets a 5 or a 6/10, Psycho Circus a 9/10, Revenge & Destroyer get a perfect 10...okay, fine, maybe Destroyer gets 11/10. So, my point is they've been saying (both Paul & Gene) that it's a cross btwn Revenge & Destroyer AND that it's the best thing they've done in, quote: "I don't know how long". I think the venerable Mr. Eisen is trying to say it's the best thing since Revenge. I'm sure the band honestly believes this is even better than Psycho Circus! J-E-E-Z-U-S!!

Ever lol...Your scores for Sonic Boom and Psycho Circus are the exact opposites of what just about everyone in the KISS Army would score giving SB a 9/10 and PC a 6/10. Just had to comment b/c I've rarely seen somebody be positive about Psycho Circus. But hey, you seem nice and I hope you enjoy the hell out of Monster! :)

I can't figure it out. 6/10?? It can score at least 8/10 easily. As for Sonic Boom (which the band inexplicably are proud of too) I've tried & tried to like the songs but those choruses are just too damn soft. There's no "epic vibe" that u find in songs like Detroit Rock City if u know what I mean

@TheNewAeon2012 Nah, an 8 is definitely too kind. As for 'Sonic Boom'. at least you gave it an honest chance! I feel the epic vibe in songs like 'Modern Day Delilah' or 'I'm An Animal' or 'Say Yeah'. It's '70s classic KISS with other eras thrown in. As long as my fellow fans were happy with the album, then I'm happy. And they were ecstatic in 2009 when it came out. It was a great time to be a fan! I'll give Psycho a listen tonight since you like it so and see if I've misjudged :)

But, we know that SB was deliberately meant 2b a new version of Rock n Roll Over (even the cover is nearly the same!), which was an album i didn't like much at all...er, because it was too soft. Sorry, it's just me, my first introduction to KISS was Destroyer (the guy @ the store told me it was their best album & great intro 2the band, boy was HE rite!), so any deviation from that sound is bad

Sonic boom was my least fav KISS album (Elder not included, of course, since it doesn't even count as a real album). I can't see how it was meant to be better than Psycho Circus. It didn't have a single epic anthem like Detroit Rock City or Psycho Circus, for instance. None of the songs had that "huge" Kiss sound, seriously. 2 tell u the truth, I can't see how ANY KISS album can be better than Psycho Circus (okay, maybe Destroyer is), but...anyway, that's just me.

All of them except Scorpions (who retired in triumph) lost the fuking plot. Only KISS, AC/DC & Maiden are left standing. Look at Metallica: just WTF is Lulu meant to be exactly? But stanley keeps going like it's fukin 1978 or something. he just turned 60 and he looks like he's 30! WTF??! i can't stop admiring this band for its longevity & consistent output of quality albums. Honestly, only the Elder was truly bad & they admit this themselves all the time. I think Simmons gave it a zero out of 10 once. That's so hilarious!

@StoneColdCrazy74 Snap out of it. Revenge is the most overrated Kiss album this side of Creatures, the only difference is Creatures holds up better today than Revenge. Sonic Boom is complete crap. I saw it at Wal Mart last week in the $5 dollar bin with cd's by Freddy Fender and Conway Twitty. If that's what you call "delivering the goods" more power to ya, but the rest of aren;t in fantasy land anymore. Kiss' best albums are LONG behind them. Time to call it a day.

And disliked it. I'm sorry. He can't sing and shouldn't try for any more than 1-2 songs per album. His best solo stuff was when Tod Howarth was singing.
