Animal testing for medicine research is absolutely necessary. It would come to an almost complete halt without them. If we didn't do any hunting, then the animal populations would grow too large and and most of them would die slowly and painfully to diseases and parasites. One bullet through their hearts or brains is a lot less painful.

These meat eating traits in humans probably evolved because of the introduction of animal consumption. Only slight changes have been made to allow the body to eat meat, but is is still harmful.
there is actually scientific evidence showing the the teeth humans have that people say are for eating meat evolved over time because humans began to eat animals. therefore there is no evidence that eating animals is the natural thing to do.

By definition, a terrorist organization is one that uses fear and intimidation in order to reach their goals.
Given that, PETA is, if not a terrorist group, a bunch of well endorsed bullies.
Im not against their means or puprose. The animal abuse is a serious concern. But their methods are more than questionable.
Millions of families depend on the food industry, and the responsible animal testing is needed in order to research better medicines.

Peta is neither a shelter nor a domestic welfare org like the ASPCA. They do of course help out on these issues but their main work is in WORLDWIDE animal cruelty in factory farms, fur industries, entertainment and testing. They are a pressure and lobby group and doing a great job for animals.

As i said b4 Peta sends adoptable pets if possible to the SPCA. The problem is OVERPOPULATION. The sensible thing to do is euthanise them or they will be on the streets.

Animal testing for medicine research is absolutely necessary. It would come to an almost complete halt without them. If we didn't do any hunting, then the animal populations would grow too large and and most of them would die slowly and painfully to diseases and parasites. One bullet through their hearts or brains is a lot less painful.

Humans and animals share some diseases. Besides, if we stopped testing on animals, how would we get medicine for animals themselves? Stopping animal testing would therefore not only put medical advances for human treatment on almost complete halt, but animal treatment as well. Some would die from old age sure. But since humans have pretty much killed all their natural predators, the only limiting factors for their population increase is various diseases, parasites and availability of food, but not before the population would get big. If the limiting factors are serious, their population could drop to almost zero. Human population is already too big and if you look at third world countries with no modern medicine, agriculture and clean water, their populations are...

Almost all pathogen vaccines, from smallpox to polio to pneumonia are due to animal testing. Modern Anesthesiology, anti depressants, heart valve surgery, and for that matter, almost any organ trasplant surgery is derived from animal testing.
To shorten it up, almost everything we know about medicine has been derived from animal testing.
I know they test on wide variety of animals...most people do. The variety is not important though.

No kill shelters have good intentions but one serious drawback...they turn away animals as they are usually full up. Right now Peta has their winter campaign going for chained yard dogs, where they provide kennels, food and vet care for free.
Peta also has a 24/7 pet assistance sevice and will always come out and also often pay the vets bills for poorer families.
Lots of the Peta workers take their pets to work with them at the main Peta building and even cats. All are welcome.

I'm all for stamping out exploitation and cruelty of animals. However, 90% of the meat in my freezer is all from the wild. I live to hunt and hunt to live. I eat what I kill and I kill what I eat, plain and simple. Deer, squirrel, hogs, rabbits, birds, rattlesnakes, and even freshwater turtles. Mostly softshell. I hate buying meat because I believe it supports animal mistreatment.

Well, If that is what you believe then thats cool with me. No problems there. But no I didn't get all my info from PETA my cousins father owns a slaughter buisness (don't remember the name) and the people he works with are vile, only some but, when I was 3 one of them were beating an animal and it scared me. So I never really have liked meat, it has always looked kinda gross to me. So there is my reasoning to being veg.

Animals should too have rights. In slaughterhouses animals are beaten within an inch of their lives. Unable to help them selves and then (while they are still alive) are skined. That wouldn't feel nice would it. Plus all of the abuse put onto these animals is only illegal if inflicted on dogs and cats or other common house pets. Funky huh.
Thats why I took the Go Veg Pledge to not eat meat. Go ahead and mock me it doesn't phase me at all. I am proud of what I am doing. (more than you can say)

I can say that too. I'm a proud hunter and meat eater. You get all of your information from PETA which has no credit. They are a associated with the ALF which is considered a domestic terrorist group. In most slaughterhouses, the butchers kill the animals quickly and humanely.

If what you're saying is true, and that you got this information from your cousin's father who owns a slaughterhouse? Then most likely he's running a fucked up, privately owned slaughterhouse. Contrary to your beliefs, most cattle are stunned with a high-powered electric shock to the back of the head (or with a captive bolt pistol), to remove as much suffering as possible, and then bled to death BEFORE being skinned.
Do your research. You sound like you COULD be smarter if you did.

What what r u saying that when you give animals right they will go aorund killing people? treat them properly then they won't fight back. Don't disturb a bee and it won't sting you!! Give animals some respect, who says about letting tigers loose in the roads as animal rights? ANimal rights means that you treat the animal fairly. You can keep the dangerous creatures in the zoo with good facilities.

Tell you what- find me an animal who happens to be a regular contributor to society, pays his taxes, votes, and sustains a livelihood.
Better yet, find me an animal that can have a moral discussion, since "rights" are determined by the community's moral standards.
Even better, find me an animal who understands the law, so that he doesn't abuse his rights accidentally and infringes on the rights of others.

The fact is, we are animals and as such, we should be treated equally. Why do we seem to think we are better than all other animals on the planet? Who gives us the right to kill every other animal? Nobody. We only eat meat because we are greedy, destructive creatures.

A leopard has speed so it can catch and eat animals. Unlike us, a leopard is supposed to eat meat.
If the people in Africa have no food to eat, then of course they will end up eating animals, but most of humanity should have modernised by now and scrapped the primitive, barbaric slaying of other animals.

Let's ignore the fact that plant matter is among the difficult to digest when it is consumed by itself. And let's certainly ignore the fact that the only way to cover for nutritional losses in veganism and vegetarianism is to take unnatural, factory-produced dietary supplements.

The only reason our body can eat meat is because we started eating meat. It still does damage to us.
Humans didn't always eat meat, and they survived then.
Eating plants is natural for humans.
And, indeed, taking suppliments is far more natural than eating the flesh of our fellow animals.

I call bullshit on this weak excuse for a counterargument. Eating solely ANYTHING, plants included, is damaging to health- that's why our diet consists of vegetables, fruits AND meats.
Also, explain hydrochloric acid in our singular stomachs and the physiological makeup of our teeth and jaw structure. How is putting nutrients in a capsule "more natural" than straight meat consumption. I'm betting you can't/won't.
Better men than you define us as omnivores. They're called scientists.

Calm down dude. Keep it a civilised arguement.
My arguement was certainly not weak, seeing as it is fact. We can live on fruit and vegetables healthily, that is enough of a varied diet.
These meat eating traits in humans probably evolved because of the introduction of animal consumption. Only slight changes have been made to allow the body to eat meat, but is is still harmful.

there is actually scientific evidence showing the the teeth humans have that people say are for eating meat evolved over time because humans began to eat animals. therefore there is no evidence that eating animals is the natural thing to do.

I would define humans as omnivores because we are. But we shouldn't be.
And many scientists are vegetarian, including Charles Darwin who I'm sure you agree with on the evolution front.

I see that you already admitted that humans are omnivores. Omnivores eat both meat and plants. You know those pointy teeth in your mouth called canine teeth? They're designed to rip through flesh and meat in order to eat animals. Alright a scenario. Hunting is banned, the wolf and bear populations are rising and they aren't afraid of people anymore. A bear breaks into your house, and starts to rip apart your other. What do you do? You certainly can't kill it that would be barbaric.

Blatant hypocrisy- that basically you saying all animals deserve to be free, except the ones who can maul you. Keep all the fluffy ones safe, but keep the other violent ones in confinement- you can't have it both ways if you want to treat animals "fairly", as you say.
Let dogs run free- but don't arrest it when a child gets mauled because you didn't expect it?

The hypocrisy lies with meat eaters. Most of them say they love animals, but they also eat animals.
You are quite happy to eat an animal, but you wouldn't kill and dissect one.
People (in most countries) wouldn't eat dog or cat, but it is scientifically proven that pigs are more intelligent than some.
This is also the case if a human is mentally retarded. But you wouldn't eat a human.
