  • A little keyboard wizardry.

  • Excellent and original rendition.

  • good version ignore the comments about authenticity better to develop your own style than play by numbers

  • i've always wanted to learn something like this....

is there a video of someone playing this slow where i can learn...like a tutorial.....i wanna learn to honkytonk!

  • weird left hand..

  • OKok , sorry I don´t say something anymore :D . But I think Meades version is all in all more groovy... you don´t have to play like him, but I think you could.

  • My point was that posture has nothing to do with the sound that comes out. Anything goes.Look at boogieman69,he sits there as if he would be reading the piano-keys small print, yet he sounds great. And what about jpboogie's left hand-if you think mine is jumpy you haven't seen him yet.

I absolutely agree that Meade's Honky Tonk is the best out there, for obvious reasons. And I could probably copy him more closely, but I have more fun doing it my way - and that's what it's all about, right?

  • Nice... but Meade Lux Lewis kept his left hand nearer the keys and didn´t jump with the fingers as strong as you.

    Try that!^^

  • Good observation ! He also was of heavier build, did not wear glasses and was a colored person... On top of that he played a different left hand altogether. As I already said, it's not the most authentic version !

  • NICE

  • Hi Armin,

You sent me a message regarding the VHS of the Long Boogie Woogie Night? Never got it. Could you send it again? Just back from a holiday...

  • great what is the key to hand independance?

  • Is that a D--D--G/B--G/B bass? Very interesting! Keep posting!

  • It's G+B--D--C--C--G+B--D--C--C and so on. Slight accent on the D in the 2nd and 6th beat adds to the crossrhythm, which has it's accent on the 3rd and 7th beat.

  • Sorry, I don't know my own hands: it is G+B--D--A+C--A+C-- etc. then C+E--G--D+F--D+F-- etc.finally A+C--D--D(+1)--D(+1) etc. ( D(+1) means 1 octave higher)

  • Now you really have got it! Very impressive and an excellent look on your "handwork".

  • Wow... Stunning! A personal touch, sure, but what a touch! You really do manage to get that steam train rolling. In my view your best video. This is definitely a stellar five star-performance of this boogie woogie!
