I've got one, got the hover down pretty good, able to keep one step ahead in most circumstances. Right now, I'm practicing putting the machine into an angle away from me and moving it forward and back. It's a challenge, but I'm GETTING it.
hey, i got one last week, and since then. it has a weird vibration when it flies, it's worst when the blade isnt spinning quick ! what can this be ? (btw i hate a mcx pushrod on it, cutted it a bit, still waiting my msr pushrod) may this come from the pushrod ? or bent shaft ?
I have 3 of these MSRs, one I have taken apart the other 2 are brand new. Out of nowhere both started acting up. When i throttle up the helis want to spin as if i was giving it right rudder. I just give it more power and it starts to spin. I have bought new tail assem. for both with new motors but it diddnt help. Even if i give opposite rudder it fights it and wins.
@mynameisjumbledwords Tons n Tons of practice....Just spend alot of time Hovering at about 2-3 feet of the ground with GRADUAL stick movements & u will see it will become natural to you...but Practice is the main word...good luck
i was comparing micro heli's and noticed that thr protomax by Revell seems to have a lower rotational mass. however, does not offer bind-n-fly or neat 4 batt. charger.
Going to pick this baby up this evening! Im the idiot that started out with a damn SR, after the LHS begged me not to! Did it anyway. So...here I am after 3 trips back for parts....I finally realize that he was right! Gonna go today, pick up the last batch of parts for the SR...and grab the MSR while I am there....oh, and a damn simulator! Keep y'all posted. Shit.
Im having trouble with mine spinning out of control. the tail rotor is obviously the problem. the little plastic blade spins, so i know it works. I'm just not sure what the problem might be. Any help would be appreciated
Got one yesterday and not my first Heli. I've had a Blade CP Pro (impossible for me to fly) a Blade CX2 (very nice to fly in a gym or in an open park with ZERO wind). I have to say... the Blade MSR is not only a fully functional, super responsive, very fast chopper, but also stable as a rock when trimmed out correctly.
Batteries are dirt cheap, and you can charge 4 at once. The motors generate almost no heat, so if you have the batteries and wanna fly for an hour, go for it! Highly Rec'd!
Start with mcx2. Reasons. No tail motor to break while u learn to fly and it's tough!! I've had mine for 2 months and learned to fly with it. Now I have the msr (much faster) and bought the 120sr which is a challenge indoors but great practice for future CP helis
i have never flown before and i am wanting to start fling a helli but i can not decide witch one to pick a Blade MCX2 or a Blade msr please help i have no idea
I bought a new blade SR, and i couldent get the thing to hover without darting to the left. I tried everything in my power to fix it but no luck. I think it's the plastic head and swashplate, there just isnt enough adjustments to work with. oh well i traded it for a nice old piper cub with an 90 magnum 4 stroke, it does great, i have had many hours of fun with it. I guess i am not a Heli pilot. LOL
best heli I have in my flight arsenale - I just love this lil sucker!
most fun - almost undestructable - stable like nothing I've ever seen or fluwn before - wish my KYOSHO CALIBER 30 NITRO would be that stable ... or my blade 400 3D
@thelaughingman79 all heli's will lean to the left on take off,my trex450 and trex500e do the same, compensate by giving it a bit of right stick and when its in the air it will be fine.
I just got mine its pretty cool ! I have flown co-axial copters so this is a little different but within 5 minutes I was able to fly it around the living room without a problem . I can tell that this little bird is very fast indeed and I'm not about to smash it into a wall at 25mph so after I practice more I'll take it outside and destroy it there hehehe . Its sweet
Except your wrong, if that were the case the mcx would not fly. They both push air downward I have an msr and an mcx2 in the other room, the pitch on all four blade on the mcx is positive. You are simply wrong
mine won't do any of that it just moves to the left the second it lifts off. i'll never know if i can fly it or not because it never lifts off straight. i've been adjusting stuff all day
as soon as i get my mcx, e flite freakin comes out with the better and much more awesome mcx2 and now the msr!!! damn my luck. i need to save some money
Can anyone give me feed back on how easy these are to fly? N when u crash how easy they are to fix. N how robust they are. I've had a larger e sky honey bee but I destroyed that in 2 minutes. N I've got a duel rotar one at the moment which I can fly but I know these take a lot longer to master. Any help at all would be really appreciated. N if this ones no good which should I go for?
@jlove851987 I went straight to one of these after having only flown a cheap coxial (dual rotor) toy rc heli and I could fly around the room and land after about the 2nd battery.
They are very durable. The spare parts are cheap and you can replace every single component of the heli.
Easy to fix, a screwdriver is included as well as some spare parts.
Make sure when you are learning, fly it in docile mode which makes all the controls far less sensitive.
without alu upgrades they dont last long ,,too volnerable ,,and tailmotor needs to be replaced often ,,should be brushless instead ,,its eating your money away these little flyers
@khalid67596 No, the only way to fly it upside down is to take off the rotor blades and flip them upside down. It's kinda pointless though because all you can do is just hover around, you can't do 3D stunts.
To fly upside down you'll need a 3D helicopter. Probably a JR heli is your best bet. The blade 400 is good too but to fly it upside down confidently, you gotta upgrade a few components and it ends up costing more than a JR which already has the upgrades. Get the G5 simulator first.
@bassettrd I have had one of these for a while. If you press down (INTO the controller) the right stick, the light that says you have turned the controller on, flashes. This means that it is in practice mode, which dampens the effect of your stick movements. Since the controls for this are the same as for a larger model, it has helped me get used to the controls for my CP V2. Then press the stick IN again to give you the full control again, building my confidence. :)
you are right, this baby does bite :) I got mine and I love it alot, I just bought the LP5DSM radio for it to replace the stock one that came w/ it, and gonna work on gettin' the DX6i asap :) for much smoother feel man mSR rules the ultra micro world ! happy flying y'all.

my msr is coming this week !!! man, I can't wait !!! I had the cx2 mod it up to the max I could till it got too heavy to hover, so with this msr gonna leave it completely stock :)
as an huge micro heli fan and flyer and electronic product designer, I went to my small network of flyers for some feedback on our micro-heli pad we just designed and got my first opportunity to fly the Blade mSR. This thing is awesome! I've never had more fun flying a micro. I am now ordering two, one for home and one for the office (for business purpose of course ;)
The mCX is a coaxial electric RC helicopter that creates artificial lift. It completely depends upon artificial lift and vertical positioning. Once the stability is compromised (wind) and no longer has vertical positioning, it is practically impossible to control.
The Blade mSR (I have 2) is a fixed pitch heli. The skill level to fly outdoors is much higher than indoors, but it can be done as long as the wind is not so strong as to blow it away, with the current. It only weighs 1 ounce.
What do you mean by "artificial lift"? Lift is lift, isn't it? Also, what do you mean by "vertical positioning"? Are you talking about airflow or the positioning of the rotors?
Real coaxial helicopters, though they are not fixed pitch like the mCX which may be the reason why it becomes less stable at faster airspeeds, tend to be the fastest helicopters out there because the coaxial rotor system virtually eliminates the effect of dissymmetry lift because the rotors spin opposite of each other.
@testpipedh22a What I mean by artificial lift is easy to understand and explain. A single rotor heli such as the MSR creates lift by forcing air downwards without any assist other than the natural resistance of air or any solid object under the heli. A coaxial system creates its own resistance from the bottom blades since the bottom blades are pusing air upwards and the top blades are pushing air downwards creating its own lift. It seems only logical to call it "artificial" since its not natural
Erm, not sure I get what your trying to say, on a CoAx both the upper and lower rotors push air down to create lift. If the lower blades push air up and the upper blades push air down as you say then one cancels the other and you end up with no lift.
@RCFJohn noo, the way a coaxial worlks is that the two sets of rotor heads replace the tail rotor, they create equal life downwars excaept when you want to pivot(turn), then one blade torx the heli that way
@RCFJohn in a coax setup both blades push down... once spins clockwise... the other spins counter clock wise... the 2 forces keep the heli heading strait... link me an article or review or something that says anything about coax being artificial lift..
The MSR is indeed the best micro heli available if you're going for a balanced combination of stability, agility and durability. Exept for the vunerable tail motor no negetive points at all. Next step is adding a lightweight scale body like I did on mine, check my Blade MSR Airwolf video! By the way, GREAT FLYING!
i bought a similar heli today called a nine eagles solo pro 2 wish id spent the extra 20 and got this solo pro is a good machine but it only comes with one battery the charger is built into radio so you can only chage 1 battery at a time plus its no where near as fast in the air or as controlible and stable :(
I fly a Blade 400 3d, but just purchased an MSR to fly inside when the weather is bad. I cannot put this thing down. I LOVE IT. Very stable, full controls, and hard to break. Well worth the money. Im using the DX6I with mine.
Man... your flight skills are great - but your videography is even better! It's hard to find good quality videos of this tiny heli flying... great job on both counts!
these fly sweet ! I like them ! if you can fly a co-ax jobby with confidence then you can fly one of these no problem, only thing to watch out for is tail rotor drift which pushes the heli to the left a bit on take off. a dab of right cyclic on take off sorts this out :)
very stable & easy to fly but still reasonably agile, I wonder if it will loop ?
arent these a pain to set up, and i mean helis generally, they loo klike SOO much trouble to me!! all the guys at the field, spend hours just hovering the thing an inch off the ground!
how is it overpriced? 50 bucks more than the mcx was and that only came with one battery, a crappy charger, and a lot less complex heli. The price seems right.
If anyone is thinking of getting into rc helis - then this is the one to start on. seriously. I have a honeybee, a king 2 and a blade 450 sport - and I wish I started on one of these - I have learned more on this than any of the others. Its near unbreakable (mine just disappeared out the 3rd story window, hit the floor and no damage at all...!) and excellent for learning nose in flying etc.
I am new to the hobby. Before the mSR, I purchased, and proceeded to destroy, both a Walkera 4G3 and a Blade CP+. So I put aside my wrecks, and picked up a simulator. About a month later, eFlite released the mSR. Having some new found confidence thanks to a little sim time (approx. 80 hours.) I purchased the mSR. Boy, that sim time came in handy. In short order I had the mSR trimmed and in a stable hover, and within 3 battery packs time, I was flying this thing like a pro. Wow, what a heli!
Couldn't agree with you more, my Honey Bee is bent, broken and out of balance. Similar to mental state after working on it for 10 times longer than flying it. Lost confidence/motivation and was about to give up on RC helis. Bought an MSR and now I can actually fly (hover about) and the odd crash doesn't do it any harm. Oh joy.
Although it appears to be easy to fly, trust me, it isn't. As a newbie, I understand that I should have started out flying the CX2 first and mastered that before I went with the MSR.
This little baby takes TIME to learn to fly. Don't expect this to be easy! Get the optional training cross landing legs, or prepare for some major damage and part replacements.
Always cut power before impact with anything! Start with baby steps and master hovering and stabilization before you go into movement.
My beef was - JULY video - but after 2 months wait - I only just now (near September end) get the product
Had to watch online stores I don't normally use to snag mine. Wisely still some stores don't even list them (maybe they think - why antagonise customers with things you can't supply)
I'm in the UK. There's plenty of supply in the UK if you look around the net. Plenty on ebay and places like Brentford RC, Fast Lad, Kooltoyz etc. I got one last week. Love it
i can't wait to buy one of these. i have the blade mcx, but its way to slow and easy. i need something that will help me gain more confidence flying with single rotor heli's so I can start flying my trex-450 better. already had a minor mishap with the trex-450 and cost over $100 in repair. This thing looks like a lot more fun than an mcx.
Supposed to be in the stores (RC hobby specialty stores) early September. /Maybe/ late August, and more likely late September.
Sources at Horizon have indicated that the first container shipments from the Asian factories are currently (late July) en route to North America. So a September launch looks very likely, barring any unforeseen issues....
Thanks for the great reply but i don't suppose you know when we will get them here in the UK do you?? ;-) after what you have just told i'm thinking mid October to November ;-(
Just repeating what I was posted by an HH rep in a thread on the rcrgroups forum...
If you're concerned that the UK release date might be a lot later than the North American date, you could always pre-order from Horizon or another online retailer that is taking orders...
Thanks for the quick reply but i don't really think they will be that late ;-) but i do think we might get them a couple of weeks after you in the USA,i can wait that long and i hope you will post a review or a unboxing video when you recieve yours ;-)
I have one and i love the thing

Real coaxial helicopters, though they are not fixed pitch like the mCX which may be the reason why it becomes less stable at faster airspeeds, tend to be the fastest helicopters out there because the coaxial rotor system virtually eliminates the effect of dissymmetry lift because the rotors spin opposite of each other.
scootty83 1 year ago
@RCFJohn Artificial lift? What are you talking about?
Artificial lift is the process of artificially increasing the flow of natural liquids, for example an oil rig.
It has nothing to do with aviation at all.
frankovich213 1 year ago
Please explain artificial lift to me. In my world there are two kinds -lift, and no lift.
thanks,
D.
P.S. I'm being facetious, just in case you didn't grok that.
blave549 1 year ago
@RCFJohn
LOL what exactly is artificial lift john? is it not actually there?
you should go ahead and keep your mouth shut if you dont know what your talking about. the lift is very real, its beyond me how you think otherwise
testpipedh22a 1 year ago
@testpipedh22a What I mean by artificial lift is easy to understand and explain. A single rotor heli such as the MSR creates lift by forcing air downwards without any assist other than the natural resistance of air or any solid object under the heli. A coaxial system creates its own resistance from the bottom blades since the bottom blades are pusing air upwards and the top blades are pushing air downwards creating its own lift. It seems only logical to call it "artificial" since its not natural
RCFJohn 1 year ago
@RCFJohn
Erm, not sure I get what your trying to say, on a CoAx both the upper and lower rotors push air down to create lift. If the lower blades push air up and the upper blades push air down as you say then one cancels the other and you end up with no lift.
helimeal 1 year ago
@RCFJohn noo, the way a coaxial worlks is that the two sets of rotor heads replace the tail rotor, they create equal life downwars excaept when you want to pivot(turn), then one blade torx the heli that way
rc18trocks 1 year ago
@RCFJohn in a coax setup both blades push down... once spins clockwise... the other spins counter clock wise... the 2 forces keep the heli heading strait... link me an article or review or something that says anything about coax being artificial lift..
PhilDBowl 1 year ago
@RCFJohn Your explanation of "artificial lift" clearly violates all three of Newton's laws of physics.

or any other suggestions?
I currently fly a syma s107. just looking for an upgrade.

The videography is superb--the best of the mSR. Flying it is one thing, but filming the little thing is a real challenge. Good job.
Yo, 260k1s, it wasn't designed to fly through walls.

i got that one for christmas,,,,the blades broke, and the tail motor wire ripped off,,,,but amazing strength and speed!!! good job E flite

i bought a similar heli today called a nine eagles solo pro 2 wish id spent the extra 20 and got this solo pro is a good machine but it only comes with one battery the charger is built into radio so you can only chage 1 battery at a time plus its no where near as fast in the air or as controlible and stable :(
bazrichi 2 years ago
u can get this for 159 rc universe or ebay 179 w /extra batteries

I fly a Blade 400 3d, but just purchased an MSR to fly inside when the weather is bad. I cannot put this thing down. I LOVE IT. Very stable, full controls, and hard to break. Well worth the money. Im using the DX6I with mine.

These are very expensive but they seem to be the most stable and controllable Ive ever seen.

Man... your flight skills are great - but your videography is even better! It's hard to find good quality videos of this tiny heli flying... great job on both counts!

how would you bind your transmitter to the reciever if the transmitter is 2.4ghz?
alexztyphoon 2 years ago
I just got mine yesterday
Binding it is done as following: Turn on transmitter, connect Heli battery and ~3 seconds later it is bound automatically.
poweredparagliding 2 years ago
these fly sweet ! I like them ! if you can fly a co-ax jobby with confidence then you can fly one of these no problem, only thing to watch out for is tail rotor drift which pushes the heli to the left a bit on take off. a dab of right cyclic on take off sorts this out :)
very stable & easy to fly but still reasonably agile, I wonder if it will loop ?

arent these a pain to set up, and i mean helis generally, they loo klike SOO much trouble to me!! all the guys at the field, spend hours just hovering the thing an inch off the ground!

only for the gas models. Electric models like these u just neeed to plug the batery in and ur ready 2 go!

Overpriced for what it is!
RCEbooks 2 years ago
how is it overpriced? 50 bucks more than the mcx was and that only came with one battery, a crappy charger, and a lot less complex heli. The price seems right.
kxrider425 2 years ago
If anyone is thinking of getting into rc helis - then this is the one to start on. seriously. I have a honeybee, a king 2 and a blade 450 sport - and I wish I started on one of these - I have learned more on this than any of the others. Its near unbreakable (mine just disappeared out the 3rd story window, hit the floor and no damage at all...!) and excellent for learning nose in flying etc.
TheClumsiestNinja 2 years ago
I am new to the hobby. Before the mSR, I purchased, and proceeded to destroy, both a Walkera 4G3 and a Blade CP+. So I put aside my wrecks, and picked up a simulator. About a month later, eFlite released the mSR. Having some new found confidence thanks to a little sim time (approx. 80 hours.) I purchased the mSR. Boy, that sim time came in handy. In short order I had the mSR trimmed and in a stable hover, and within 3 battery packs time, I was flying this thing like a pro. Wow, what a heli!
BladeTracker 2 years ago
Couldn't agree with you more, my Honey Bee is bent, broken and out of balance. Similar to mental state after working on it for 10 times longer than flying it. Lost confidence/motivation and was about to give up on RC helis. Bought an MSR and now I can actually fly (hover about) and the odd crash doesn't do it any harm. Oh joy.
madeupname37 2 years ago
I just got 1 of these, pretty good - but the nose could do with some weight.
They can take a fair amount of abuse, very good micro heli AND better than the Walkera 4#3 thingy
wily010 2 years ago
Although it appears to be easy to fly, trust me, it isn't. As a newbie, I understand that I should have started out flying the CX2 first and mastered that before I went with the MSR.
This little baby takes TIME to learn to fly. Don't expect this to be easy! Get the optional training cross landing legs, or prepare for some major damage and part replacements.
Always cut power before impact with anything! Start with baby steps and master hovering and stabilization before you go into movement.

Not plenty - a few are filtering through to UK
But my beef is over - I got 2 now
My beef was - JULY video - but after 2 months wait - I only just now (near September end) get the product
Had to watch online stores I don't normally use to snag mine. Wisely still some stores don't even list them (maybe they think - why antagonise customers with things you can't supply)

Why blatantly advertise something that's - not available - vapourware
It's so cripplingly in short supply many people are going to be disappointed - many of these vids are shops

This thing looks like a lot more fun than an mcx.
jthokie1992 2 years ago
Looks good - can't wait to see people's mods - another servo and some elevator surface for fighting the wind would be good
On the mCX I velcro'd the battery to the motherboard and ditched the fuselage
Still waiting for a commercial version of that swash arm extension mod I've seen on here

Yeah very nice but when can we get our hands on this baby??? 5*
startazz 2 years ago
Supposed to be in the stores (RC hobby specialty stores) early September. /Maybe/ late August, and more likely late September.
Sources at Horizon have indicated that the first container shipments from the Asian factories are currently (late July) en route to North America. So a September launch looks very likely, barring any unforeseen issues....

Just repeating what I was posted by an HH rep in a thread on the rcrgroups forum...
If you're concerned that the UK release date might be a lot later than the North American date, you could always pre-order from Horizon or another online retailer that is taking orders...
I'm first on the waiting list at my LHS.... :D

Thanks for the quick reply but i don't really think they will be that late ;-) but i do think we might get them a couple of weeks after you in the USA,i can wait that long and i hope you will post a review or a unboxing video when you recieve yours ;-)
