I think this is an excellent piece of work. Provides some balance and perspective that we simply will not get from the BBC.
The point made about this 'scam' damaging the environmental movement is a good one.
I cringe every time a BBC documentary programme makes reference to Global Warming/Climate Change. The propagandising of children however is something much more sinister. I reference it in my song Wake Up.
All around the world governments are imposing a carbon tax. But Star Scientific's Muon Catalysed Fusion produces NO CO2 so therefore NO CARBON TAX. Also NO Nuclear Fission waste, it is completely safe, NO Fukushima here.
If you care about the cost of your energy you will want this: "..could cost as little as 0.9c per kilowatt" see blog "The Big Picture by Andrew Horvath" July 01 post
l
website "Star Scientific Limited"
youtube video "In the footsteps of Fusion" + youtube channel
After more than two months of a typical (rainy) British summer. We are due for a bit of warm weather, so get ready for the BBC to big-up Global warming again, over the years I'm sure they've helped to double the cost of our energy bills on behalf of the energy companies. The next big event for the BBC is Winter telling us that pensioners are dying because they can't afford to pay the bills!!!
A new study in the peer-reviewed science journal "Remote Sensing" has found that United Nations computer models may be incorrect in overstating the amount of global warming that will occur in the future. James M. Taylor says it would be wise for the media, elected officials and climate scientists to recognize the “huge discrepancy” between global warming predictors and NASA’s satellite data.
Now does it mean sit back and watch? No, because one of the point of AGW is that it makes people realize they are responsible for their actions and that burning forests reduces the normal intake of CO2 by nature, and that the environment is a fragile equilibrium that needs to be respected. Why do we need to destroy nature to live and progress? No technological advance will make up for the current careless sabotage of the ecosystem if it carries on.
Is your reason to protect your own interests or your business'? That would be dishonest. Or is it fear? I don't think there is need to fear AGW, I believe we'll tackle that issue, I encourage anyone worried to take a look at this talk by Mark Stevenson(/watch?v=OlqMgwz8ULM). I firmly believe innovations in technology will bring us greener and cheaper energy without the need to tax the public. It'll just be better, just like no one would buy a steam powered car nowadays.
I'm not in any denial. Any time I come across an argument against GW I look it up. Unluckily everytime I can find within five minutes a study that has reviewed it and can tell me why it's either false, outdated or a lie.
More than that, the whole thing makes sense to me. I understand how that works. No counter argument has ever given me a bigger understanding of any sort. Seeing the ratio of evidence for and against, I ask, why would you go for against unless you had some special reason to?
The fact is, the Warmists hate the human race and would be happy to see it destroyed in order to save an orchid here or an owl there (or to stop putting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere; it's the same thing). That's the real bottom line, the logical conclusion of the action they want the world to take. Spend unimaginable sums of money on ineffective means of combating a problem that exists only in the minds of a few fanatics or people with vested interests.
No point in trying to debate with the likes of "awlocke", who is typical of those who believe in the "A" part of AGW in that s/he denies all argument to the contrary with, typically, Appeal to Authority and/or citing the Precautionary Principle. These people are the real Deniers. They would have the global economy wrecked on the basis of computer models which have to be continuously tweaked because their predictions don't match reality.
I also don't get the argument about it making science stagnate. I don't see which science is that that is so importantly relying on burning fuels.Technology maybe, but even then the future is with renewable energy or fusion energy, seeing as the petroleum now pumped is already really dirty and expensive to clean up.We have been able to rely on physical energy sources but we always knew that couldn't last. Now immaterial sources are the only place to go for any civilisation that intends to live on
Unsustainability is a reality, how will you assess a bona fide crisis with a massive ecological crisis at hands? Surely that concept is enough to make people think about solutions. That doesn't imply starvation of economy, just less wasting, more control and more filters or scrubbers maybe, but there are jobs and wealth to be created there too. With what is at stakes and the overwhelming evidence, any skeptic should have pretty solid proof of the fact that it's not happening to have any impact.
If you're not denying it, then either you're fine with the fact that desert might cover a third of the planet (of what will still be over the level of the sea) or you just think that as magically as it started, it'll just revert back to where it was and seeing the already clear destruction of ecosystems that has happenned it's just foolish. There are ways to make a greener economy just as profitable, it just takes innovation.
So you're deniying it exists altogether, or is the concensus between advocates and skeptics over the rise of temperatures and all the consequences on ecosystems all around the world not enough to convince you? There is no one in the scientific community that denies it's happening. The concerns are over man made CO2? Fill two test tubes, one with air and one with added CO2 and put them in front of the sun for a while then mesure both. Those mechanisms are well understood.
@mixmastermeeks You've obviously missed the point: If continental drift was stoppable and really dangerous, causing for example japan or california to sink and kill millions, would it really be worth ignoring?
Even if global warming turns out to be a natural process, if the earth becomes to warm for humans to live on it, what is there to lose to do something about it? a few million dollars here and there. What is there to lose if nothing is done? Everything.
@awklocke And how will spending billions of dollars every year to combat human-induced global warming help, when the cause has nothing to do with CO2 emissions? It lines the pockets of green zealots, debilitates economies and drives socialist agendas, but it DOESN'T affect the planet's temperature. And your feeling is we should just go ahead and spend anyway because it can't hurt? Wont' we be red faced when when a bona fide crisis is identified, but no one has any money left to address it.
@awklocke "what is there to lose to do something about it?" Businesses can be destroyed, billions of $ can be wasted, government can expand to ridiculously intrusive and more importantly unsustainable levels under the pretense of saving us, and we could allow science to be dictated by fear rather than facts so that it regress to a level akin to rain-dances and sacrifices to multi-headed angry gods
WARNING! I need to draw your attention to a major crisis. The continents are drifting......and humans are to blame. 1 billion scientists have created models that show if we don't do something to stop continental drift now our land masses will smash into each other sometime in the next million years. (next week it will be 100,000 years and the week after that it will be this century).... We need to do something now!
So yes, the earth is very nearly fucked and is worsening. What narrow view of the world would let anyone think other wise? So is the bbc trying to raise the consciences? I think that's a tremendously brave thing to do, when it doesn't benefit anyone, doesn't make anyone feel good, doesn't solve any economical problem. Are they asking for fear? No, they're asking for action! What are the opponents to it asking for? Business as usual. Wether global warming is real or not, it's not going to happen.
the green energy people? It's expensive, uncompetitive energy on a purely economical basis. And not able to provide energy for the billions that we are and counting. No one would go for it if there wasn't a sound idea behind it, the fact that all the earth ressources have been delivered to it when it formed out of star remains and that they are well and good finite. And that we pump them out, transform them and throw them away in a form that doesn't recycle on its own.
So is the bbc biased? Sure, they're trying to make the layman think twice, and that's a good thing wether global warming is true or not. Does global warming profit to anyone? Apart from the supposed climate scientist, who I'm sure could have started to study anything else in the realmth of climate science which is one of the field that has the most practical application for businesses. Yeah, I'm sure they're the type to fomment a conspiration. The people who own the world oil, them we can trust.
More to the point, what are people criticizing the coverage of global warming trying to prove? That the earth isn't fucked, that there hasn't been hundreds of species entirely wiped out only by human slaughter or destruction of natural habitat, call it survival of the meanest if you will, that seas are 30% more acid now than 30 years ago, that existence of the great pacific garbage patch doesn't make you think 'hey, maybe we should pay more attention to what the fuck we are doing'?
Now has it all happenned before? yes. But within thousands of years, not decades. This tends to show this time is different. Now have we been relying on burning things at an unprecedented scale within the last century, have we almost depleted the earth of fuel by doing so? Who is going to question that? Now who would think that CO2 isn't the result of that over consumption but a natural phenomenon in a world wich 70% of the surface has been modified entirely by man beyond recognition?
this is the most ridiculous piece of rubbish I've ever seen. Yes, the issue of global warming is politic, yes, the bbc is relaying a politised view to influence opinion, but more to the point, is the quick rise of temperature a fact? yes. Is the rapid decrease of the ice caps and glaciers all over the world a fact? yes. Why do we know that? Because we have been able to measure it within the couple of decades when measurements have been reliable enough to provide precise accurate data.
The claim that global warming is a fabrication in order to keep climate scientists in jobs doesn't really hold water IMO. While there is likely some element of truth in that statement, if one considers it to be true then one must also balance that with the fabrications of people denying anthropogenic climate change in order to keep THEIR jobs.
@barnestim Its a much bigger picture than that. It's about corporate wealth remaining within elite sectors by using fear and stealth taxes as a weapon. One of the biggest names promoting the myth( if not the biggest ) has been Nathan Rothschild. In the end they hope to have total control a collapse economies into a world currency where they will pull the strings & we do as we are told. The only man made danger to the climate is HAARP, now that is a serious threat !
Read Anderegg et al (2010) "Expert credibility in climate change" in PNAS for scientific views.
The poster of this video has failed to appreciate that while CO2 can be raised by warming (which amplifies the effects of warming), CO2 can ALSO initiate warming as shown by the majority of warming since the 1970's.
"There is however a significant fact-based scientific consensus"....I don't think you know what the word consensus means....in fact I'm positive you don't.
co2 emmissions from humans are not even 1% of the total given out by other sources, oceans etc etc, we could never have any serious influence at this level. Yes being sustainable is good and we should stop using fossil fuels but thats not what the globalist elite want, they want to tax people in the name of global warming. The technology is there now to create free energy for everyone but these powerful people who own the oil companies buy out and pay off any one who goes in this direction.
wake up people we are living in a dream reality, the bbc just like most other media news programmes are controlled by the globalist bankers. They have so much control over peoples lives its unbelieavble, the evidence is there for people who are ready and open. Keep that critical thinking part of your mind working, TV is a very strong conditioner of the mind, don't just ignore something because its called a conspiracy. Google aspartame poison, fluoride poison, mercury amalgams, FDA, Monsanto
@mysock351W You should check out the Antarctic Vostoc Ice Core Data for the past 420,000 years. It shows categorically over that time that a rise in CO2 is correlated with a rise in temperature. The problem is the CO2 increase FOLLOWS (Lags) the temperature increase not the other way round. I do not argue the globe has warmed since the last glacial period - it's only natural.
@69jaymez That doesnt appear to be the case. But, lets entertain it for a moment. If thats so, than how do you explain the change in temperature? The sun is essentially steady to within a few percent, and the orbit is fairly stable. That model provides no mechanism for the warming or cooling. Its then this mystical thing that just happens and the CO2, even though it traps heat, doesnt participate at all, but just follows it along.
@mysock351W OMG! If that's the level of your knowledge and understanding then ignorance must be bliss! I'm sorry to be so blunt, but your comment is so naive. You think CO2 must explain any temperature change. Surely you are aware the Earth's temperature has changed between glacial and warm periods many time well before humans came along? Are you aware the earth has a molten core, that our orbit around the sun is elliptical, that the earth's axis changes?
@mysock351W Scientists are no where near understanding the circulation of the world's oceans, the global impact of tectonic plate movement and volcanic activity or cloud systems, and your assertion about the Sun is totally wrong. Solar activity, varies dramatically and has been blamed for both warming and cooling over decades and centuries. Much of all the variable I have just mentioned are not catered for in the IPCC Climate models because the scientists don't know how to model them!
As for the whole debate. As far as Im concerned, all the left and right are doing is using global warming as another political crow-bar to try to get their way. The concensus among scientists is that its a fact, but out here in meatspace, most people dont understand whats actually behind global warming. If your on the left, clearly the environment is the chief concern. If your on the right, then its a consperacy used by the left to try to take over.
As far as the evidence goes, global warming is a fact. Reviewing the ACTUAL data from the past century shows a very neat and clean trending of temperature with increasing CO2. C02 IS the cause. But, as far as Im concerned, its one of those threats thats way down the road. There are much more pressing and present dangers to worry about than increasing temperature.
@mysock351W You haven't looked at the graphs if you think they show a neat and clean trend between temperature and increasing CO2. Human produced CO2 has increased exponentially while temperature has risen and cooled cyclically with an overall upward trend which is to be expected following a mini ice age. There are many variables which have trended equally well with temperature including equal opportunity for women and minorities, coffee consumption, obesity, ethnic Chinese etc etc
@69jaymez Looking over a LARGE scale (not those stupid charts on glen becks show) over hundreds of thousands of years shows temperature tracking CO2 for the most part. CO2 concentraion is one of the major factors that drives the warming and cooling cycles. More CO2 = more heat retained = warmer global temperatures on average.
@69jaymez In the scientific community (I mean actual climatologists trained in the field, and not some guy with a couple of degrees in physics and engineering), there is no debate as to whether global warming is happening. The only debate is "what will the climate ultimately do in response?"
People can criticize Fox News all they want, but without a different perspective thrown in, that's what you get, an uncontested leftist account of the world... I speak several languages and follow newspapers from different countries, but they all say the same exact stuff, there is no difference of opinion or perspective when they all sing the same leftist ideological tune... it's mesmerizing.
"Global Warming" betrays the left's god-complex, these self-important bozos think they're like gods.
To make people believe in Global warming during the middle of the quaternary ice age is worse then what the church did to science during the dark ages.
It has been thoroughly scientifically proven that Global Warming is fraudulent, it being a money-creation scheme by criminal scientists fabricating data and fraudsters the likes of Al-Capone Gore. It is also well established that the BBC functions not to serve the people, but its puppetmaster the British government and MI5.
@BikerVincennes If they say "of all time" then they are totally wrong. The actual claim is that it's the warmest year 'since records began' which is about 100 years ago (a miniscule period of time when considering the climate). The claim itself is highly dubious because of the location of the temperature probes used to compile the data (relatively hotter places) and the weighting given to warmer areas in temperature modelling (up to 20 times higher than colder areas).
The arguments given in general by deniers are wrong. For example, the vested interest lies in denialism, as more money can be made (including tax revenues) from using oil than from using renewable energy. In fact, the amount that can be spent on dealing with climate change is very small compared to what is at stake with a global economy heavily dependent on oil. And on top of that, we're facing peak oil.
Anyone with half a brain - scientist or not - should be able to see that anything we tiny human beings do cannot have any effect on the might of our Sun. That is where the changes come from. The BBC is a disgrace but so are just about all media outlets. Grrr!
This is one of the reason I no longer use the BBC, Used to be a bastion for fair reporting getting two opposing views and letting the viewer make their own decisions. If the BBC still did that I wouldn't be paying £1.30 at the pump!!!
I think it was included because the BBC/Guardian are one of the same and shows clearly the outright massive influence the media has. I am so glad for modern technology and the excellent blogs that are beginning to expose MSM for what they are.
Have to agree with Groucho6677 I'm afraid. The first 8 minutes are a powerful expose of the damage BBC is creating around AGW. While I agree with the sentiment in the last 4 minutes they distract from the power of the AGW argument, which is a real shame.
An excellent clip, but vitally flawed by the last four minutes! I have no idea of the veracity of the claims (or otherwise) of the discussion at the end of the clip, but it does seem to be a somewhat weak and disconnected distraction to the central message which is most ably coveyed in the preceding 8 minutes.
@Groucho6677 the 1997 election of Labour was a catalyst for huge change in this country in a negative way for those who seek betterment, a week government forced through huge changes that have decimated the UK. This country is being torn apart piece by piece.
The last Labour government perpetuated social equality this just does not work, it failed with the fall of the Berlin wall.
This is a video that every blog should share with their readers to underline the outrageous bias at the heart of the BBC, and the propaganda it thrusts upon its viewers, listeners and readers.

The only man made danger to the climate is HAARP, now that is a serious threat !

To think there is a scientific debate about the fundamental mechanisms of AGW, is to be biased.

"There is however a significant fact-based scientific consensus"....I don't think you know what the word consensus means....in fact I'm positive you don't.
gohepcat 11 months ago
co2 emmissions from humans are not even 1% of the total given out by other sources, oceans etc etc, we could never have any serious influence at this level.

69jaymez 1 year ago 3
@69jaymez That doesnt appear to be the case. But, lets entertain it for a moment. If thats so, than how do you explain the change in temperature? The sun is essentially steady to within a few percent, and the orbit is fairly stable. That model provides no mechanism for the warming or cooling. Its then this mystical thing that just happens and the CO2, even though it traps heat, doesnt participate at all, but just follows it along.
mysock351W 1 year ago
@mysock351W OMG! If that's the level of your knowledge and understanding then ignorance must be bliss! I'm sorry to be so blunt, but your comment is so naive. You think CO2 must explain any temperature change. Surely you are aware the Earth's temperature has changed between glacial and warm periods many time well before humans came along? Are you aware the earth has a molten core, that our orbit around the sun is elliptical, that the earth's axis changes?
69jaymez 1 year ago

If your on the right, then its a consperacy used by the left to try to take over.
mysock351W 1 year ago
As far as the evidence goes, global warming is a fact. Reviewing the ACTUAL data from the past century shows a very neat and clean trending of temperature with increasing CO2. C02 IS the cause. But, as far as Im concerned, its one of those threats thats way down the road. There are much more pressing and present dangers to worry about than increasing temperature.
mysock351W 1 year ago
@mysock351W You haven't looked at the graphs if you think they show a neat and clean trend between temperature and increasing CO2. Human produced CO2 has increased exponentially while temperature has risen and cooled cyclically with an overall upward trend which is to be expected following a mini ice age. There are many variables which have trended equally well with temperature including equal opportunity for women and minorities, coffee consumption, obesity, ethnic Chinese etc etc
69jaymez 1 year ago
@69jaymez Looking over a LARGE scale (not those stupid charts on glen becks show) over hundreds of thousands of years shows temperature tracking CO2 for the most part. CO2 concentraion is one of the major factors that drives the warming and cooling cycles. More CO2 = more heat retained = warmer global temperatures on average.
mysock351W 1 year ago
@69jaymez In the scientific community (I mean actual climatologists trained in the field, and not some guy with a couple of degrees in physics and engineering), there is no debate as to whether global warming is happening. The only debate is "what will the climate ultimately do in response?"
mysock351W 1 year ago
@mysock351W Nonsense...do your homework before you post. C02 follows warming, not the other way around.

Is 2010 the warmest year of all time ? Are the researchs on my channel right or wrong ?
BikerVincennes 1 year ago

Has anyone sued the BBC yet and asked for a refund for failing to provide the service promised as per its charter (and as payed for by license fee)?

Anyone with half a brain - scientist or not - should be able to see that anything we tiny human beings do cannot have any effect on the might of our Sun. That is where the changes come from. The BBC is a disgrace but so are just about all media outlets. Grrr!

Idiot deniers should have their own TV station, the IDBC.
After all, TV is just there to cater to an audience and make money, not to educate citizens that have a responsibility to run a democracy.

Barmy conspiracy theory. You really have to go 15 years to find evidence that the Guardian is a left-wing paper?
