Nice vid! I've done all types of workouts- Boot camps, martial arts, weight training, boxing, grappling, TRX suspension; but I'm new to Kball training. It is great, just like many other workouts, but you really seem to get more bang for your buck with the Kballs. ALL training is good- just get your butts moving! Why argue about what's better... do it all!!! BTW, does anyone know if there are studies done on Kballs and bone density??
What's the deal with all the haters? If you actually tried the kettlebell workouts you would know right away what all the "hype" is all about. Actually, you'll find hope. I had rotator cuff/labrum tear & ACL reconstruction sugeries over the years & thought my competitive playing days were over. I finally had enough of my shoulder instability & gave kettlebells a go 3 months ago. Now my shoulders can handle the benching & I'm jumping and spiking volleyballs just like pre-surgery.
It seems that most use too heavy kettlebells and thus need momentum to move them.
Heavy-duty resistance bands offer all of the advantages of kettlebells (inital thrust) without all of the negatives (momentum, lack of return phase control).
Thanks for all your great comments, folks! We have a new edit of this video up. Youtube's not letting me post the URL, but it's titled Kettlebells Los Angeles 2.0!
Comrade Will, please DO holler when you come to LA. The crew would LOVE to meet you, as they've all heard about the Big Willie Style! All we need to do is get you, Whitley, and Pavel together for a serious event! :-)

Kettlebells might have some merit.
Yet, whenever someone swings stuff letting momentum take over, two things happen:
1. momentum energy replaces muscle energy
2. potential for injury is high
Most kettlebell vids show folks swinging them about, out of control.
You seem them arching their backs, in effect turning their backs into bows-as-levers, which is dangerous, unhealthy.

you can hurt yourself doing anything...but if used with proper movement kettlebells will rock your world

Great advertisement being so close. But the opening KB Logo is so wrong. The handle is too thin and makes me think of a purse.

I love it! Asians being hardcore with KB's...all the Asian girls I see here are SO skinny and weak, it's sad.

size is not always relative to strength. Especially not in people that train with Kettlebells.

Actually, you'd want to be a girevik - one who trains with a girya (kettlebell).

Dokbonfus : Another rule is with us : It's your fault and never contest for space with a girya, it is gonna win the battle :D

Nice rule!
When I grow up I wanna be a gyria, then! :-)

Guro Willie, one of these days, we have to get you out on the beach! There are a bunch of kettlebells here calling for you! :-D
mjcsifu 4 years ago
Sifu Mark, I will visit soon! Best wishes. Willie
williebl2005 4 years ago
Sure. The kettelbells can be thrown, but you get more benefit out of keeping them in your hands and doing higher reps with them.
mjcsifu 4 years ago
Great. I saw that in the video everybody kept swinging the kettlebells, but nobody threw them. Thus I asked... :-)
I guess that a novice should watch his own toes! :-)
DokBonfus 4 years ago
Actually, there's a saying in the kettlebell community... "Quick feet are happy feet!" :)
