I play guitar, and when i first tried guitar hero, i kept trying to bend the buttons as if they were strings. I think it would be easier to play guitar hero if you dont know how to play an actual guitar. Though, playing guitar hero got me more familiar with certain songs, which in turn helped me learn and play them on a real guitar

You see, I think that's the kind of attitude that gets Rock Band a lot of hate. Acting like people who are good at Rock Band could play real instruments really well. Rock Band is a video game, nothing more. I wish people saw it that way. They can't be compared. That's like saying someone who's good at Tony Hawk's Pro Skater would be good at skateboarding.

@DarthGollumKong hmm true for guitar and bass because for real life the way you hold a string is enough to change its tone and pitch plus theres six strings -_- however for drums and especially singing you can get a real edge because singing well you cant get anymore closer without 1000s of people watching you and im learning drums and i didnt tell my teacher that i can play expert rock band 2 like the back of my hand so she thinks i have a natural talent mwa ha ha >:)

@DarthGollumKong I think the concept is less that "If you learn how to play guitar hero you know how to play a guitar" so much as "If you have the dexterity and control to pull off some of the crazy feats (like this one) then you should be able to learn an instrument relatively smoothly."

@DarthGollumKong Relating Tony Hawk to real life skate boarding is jurastically different from relating rock band to playing real instruments. Yes, playing rock band is different from playing any real instrument, but it gives you a grasp of how to actually play real instruments. If you get to the point where you 100% songs on rock band, your that much closer to being able to play a real instrument.
