He thought his mother got killed before he got to call her. The way his face shifted is part of my nightmares.

I joined her in April '00 and I decomed her after 3 years of memories onboard. I did the maintenance on her VLS launcher and her 5" guns. I helped load her harpoons and her sea sparrows. I steered her on multiple deck watches during multiple deck watches. She is more than a ship to me. That lady and the crew who served with me at the time are part of the good and bad part of my past. On September 11, I was on her fantail and watched a shipmates face fall when he heard the pentagon got hit.

This ship is the only Sprucan still alive. Port Hueneme owns her as a test ship now.

It was an honor to have served aboard her from 83 to 87. I also like rc boats . If any one finds out where to get one these kits please post back here where. The Foster is now a testbed ship and located in Port Hueneme CA . That extra turbine powered electric generator saved the Foster from the fate of the rest of the Spruances as she is said to be the only remaining example

I Served on the Foster from 2000 to Decomm.... Beautiful Model...

@Laydbak403 Same here. It is not the ship that make her great it is the crew. The crew that I was with when we decommed her was the best of my time in the navy.

I served aboard her from 1996-2000 . You should get some trashbags out on the fantail since the trash compactor was always broken.  LOL Nice. How do I get one?
