  • whoa look at that brick. LOL!

  • i have a few questions. i would love some answers.:

Currently i am in a contract with verizon and on a plan with my family.

if i buy this phone on ebay without a contract (since mine doesnt end for a while) will i end up paying more on my monthly bill after switching my current phone with this one? i am currently paying 15 dollars for unlimited text and 10 dollars as a monthly bill. my familys average bill is $145.000

  • It depends if you have a data-plan. You will need one since verizon has just recently required for all smart phones to have a data-plan. If you don't have one, the cheapest one will be $30. As to the buying one off of eBay, they will probably not charge you to exchange your phone.

  • SPB SHELL 3.0 MAKES IT A BETTER DEVICE

  • this is the worst excuse for an htc touch pro ever. its so ugly, not to mention you don't have youtube. if you want the htc touch pro, go for sprints version. it is such a wonderful phone. verizon's version gives the touch a really bad name to a really great phone. I have sprint's version and i'm totally in love with it. best phone i ever had. it is also the most stylish but thats just my opinion. god verizon's version is so horrendous!

  • How come my HTC Touch Pro's screen doesn't look like that?

  • neither does mine and I'm getting pissed

  • you have to enable touch flow 3d..

its a type of menu setting..

you probably have the default right now.

you can find out how to by watching a thorough youtube vid. about the htc touch pro..

  • don't get too excited tho because your phone is too weak to run touchflo 3d (the way cooler interface) without it lagging to hell!

  • the HTC touch pro....how slow is it?

  • Can you play music on this phone??

  • Yes

  • i had a juke once. its kind of like an mp3 player and it has 4gb internal so its not that bad. but i still hated it. the screen was so freakin small it was painful..

  • I had the touch pro from alltel and I loved it!!! This is an upgrade of that and I think this one is really nice. Since the merger has completed in my area I think I am actually going to get it. Can't Wait!!!!

  • omfg i live in PLANO TX like on the map demo!

  • does the htc diamond for verizon have youtube app?

  • ughh i want this phonee.

    i haaate my voyager :\

  • ME 2! i hate my voyager and its like half broken and im gunna buy the pro on ebay instead of waiting another year

  • i have the voyager too...i want the HTC Touch Pro really bad!

  • Which phone should I get the HTC Touch Pro or the LG Versa?

  • touch pro duh

  • if i were to buy this because my old phone broke would it work on my current plan?

or would i have to get a new plan?

  • i like this phone but i dont know if I want it!!!!

  • You have to have a data plan, but that's it.

  • is this phone worth getting

  • im getting a new fone soon but idk which fone to get either the LG voyager or the HTC touch pro? which fone would u think is a better fone?

  • It depends on what you need from a phone. The HTC Touch Pro is a smartphone which is great for syncing your PIM info and running applications for the WinMo OS. The LG Voyager is a feature phone but supports most Verizon's multimedia services.

  • i have the voyager...It's very easy to touch the front screen. I"ve cracked it three times. This is the next phone i'm getting for sure :) I heard the HTC has the worst batter life tho...

  • does that phone come with a stylus?

  • Yes. All Windows Mobile touch screen phones come with styli.

  • and the word of the day is.... LOOSY GOOSY.

Just kidding. Nice review though. I'm considering upgrading to this phone!

  • I am getting mine in Wed. my ohine isurance is going to replace my 6800 for this, I cant wait

  • i fuckin love this phone

  • i fucking hate this phone!! i have had one for like a month now and its such a piece of shit it moves so slow and always messes up when im typing..and when i text its 8 words behind what im typing an it takes like 15 seconds to catch up DO NOT buy this phone a waste of money

  • Seriously Verizon needs to STOP crippling their freaking phones by taking off software limiting their devices! *sigh*

  • Who made the decision to put the up button between the N and M?

  • why would someone give a 600$ phone away for free?

  • umm its cheaper on verizon...its like 200-300

  • looks like it would scratch ez

  • i agree that the sprint version is better but even more so the at&t version, but its worth getting if you already have a plan.

  • For those of you who are unaware. Every aspect of this device can be changed except for the reduced RAM. And with all honesty how many apps are you planning on running at once? I can keep all kinds of apps open without breaking the 70% mark on my custom rom.

but as I said before, you can flash different radios, different PRI/QPST/PRL settings to improve battery usage, signal strength, etc. or in this case GPS.

the Verizon phone supports GPS in google maps, tom tom, and live maps.

  • what % do you hit with no apps running?

  • Mine reaches around 70% with no apps running. I don't remember what my page-pool size was, probably like 16mb or so. The remaining 30% is more than enough for near anything you would want to run.

  • old lady?

  • lol fer real

  • verizon has better coverage!!

  • I already mentioned the smart phone packages earlier. If your phone has any type of browsing capabilities you will have to pay a monthly extra charge of 30 at the lowest for smart phones an 15 at the lowest for media phones, and both are MANDATORY. Either way it ain't worth the cost.

  • some people say verizon has "killed" this phone?

    how is this so?

  • Many like the keyboard less than the other versions. The RAM was lowered from 288MB to 192MB. The GPS was locked, so you can only use Verizon's GPS software, which costs $9.99/month - no Google Maps, Tom Tom, etc. Many dislike the more square design and the colored buttons. TouchFlo3D is disabled by default.

  • You will find my friend that unlike at&t and sprint, the data package is Mandatory. Just like the black berry phones. I WiSh you where right. The wifi IS locked to the Verizon default browser. Wifi is not free with this device...VERIZON has crippled this phone on purpose. Sounds like I hear at&t calling..I also think I got a tm from sprint lol.

  • GO VERIZON!!!!!!!

  • i did not know the phone was that small

  • I can't believe I haven't jumped carriers by now......LOL, 2marrow all that will change...Verizon isn't big enough to allow me to let them shit on me!!!!

More money, Less RAM, Mandatory data package,Locked wi-fi,...Seems to sell itself....RIGHT DOWN THE DAMN TOILET!!!! Just like the company..

  • I understand your frustration, but..

Wifi isn't locked for this device..

and you aren't required to have a data plan to own this phone. That's only with BlackBerrys. I am so glad it isn't the other way around lol. I'm buying this phone, I think it's worth it, although I get it for $270.. That helps, and made the question everyone is having easier to answer..

  • Verizon now has MANDATORY DATA PLANS for there PDA's and SMART PHONES. The black berry phones also have data plans that you cannot disconnect from once you have purchased the device. Being that Verizon's MANDATORY data plan is also in play for there window mobile devices since they are smart phones, YES you need to have a 30 dollar data plan added onto your voice plan in order to purchase and use this device on there service.... It ain't worth it...

  • hehe, you're right! I'm going to get my discounted Omnia/Touch Pro, sell it on ebay without opening it, and use the profit to buy myself out of their contract. I'm on campus most of the time, and there is zero reception there, so paying $30 per month for that phone would not be worth it at all. I'm so glad you mentioned this, you really saved me on this one. Thanks!

  • No prob man, I like helping people in any way that I can. If I can make a suggestion, I would check out another carrier for this device. Verizon is also charging a 15 dollar data package for there media phones as well. Meaning that if your phone has the option of browsing weather it is a full browser or not and weather you use the net or not, they will require you to have this as well. Music phones included... The LG Dare,Voyager, etc.

Glade I could help my friend.

  • Actually they changed it so now smartphones have to have a data plan too.

  • looks like a brick

  • wow no youtube app like the other ones.

  • the ATT and VERIZON don't have the yotube app. only the sprint version does

  • yea but verizon powns

  • It takes about 5 minutes to download it and install it yourself...

  • i dont understand why verizon has to ruin their phones. i myself am i verizon customer and am very upset with them lately they cant just have a phone come out and not cripple it. the only reason i stay with them is because they have the best service in my area

  • I feel for customers like you because I was in your shoes. I don't think enough people are complaining to verizon about doing things like this. I left them 4 years ago FOR this reason and its sad to see not much has changed. I really wish more people cared about stuff like this because no matter how many ppl make excuses for it, its REALLY ridiculous! I mean I'm outraged, and I'm not a customer anymore. I can't understand why enough customers AREN'T outraged. I mean they are really taking a loss

  • I'm in the same boat, man. Verizon manages to screw up most phones and doesn't even offer some of the best mobile devices available, which is fairly inexcusable for the largest mobile carrier in North America.

  • Verizon Crippled this phone. I own the Verizon xv6800 and I actually had to find a hack on the internet to unlock my own GPS?! Sprint unlocked it months before and Verizon really tried to rip me off!

I spent $500 on a phone, i REFUSE to spend $9 a month for a "free" feature on my phone.

Once I get enough money I shall cancel my service with verizon and switch to sprint.

P.S. $30 mandatory data plan with verizon?

or $15 optional data plan with sprint.

I'm so ready to be OUT instead of IN!

  • everyone is complaining about how verizon cripples the phones but like weapondrift said theres TONS of 3rd party freeware ..ive had vzw 4 about a year and couldnt be happier , their cust. service is excellent ,and believe me i know coming from at&t before that nextel..

  • Customer service is very individual based, verizon employees can be very unhelpful depending on what you need help with just like ANY company (unless its run entirely by robots). but thats not to say that all are like that its just individuals working for a company, you get a different experience from each. but the products they sell are the same everywhere, crippled gps in new jersey is crippled gps in LA.

  • We're complaining because 3rd party freeware shouldn't be nessary... very simple. verizon went out of their way to lock gps to their service so they can charge you for a feature that is natively built into the phone for FREE USE. you yourself should be upset. then on top of that you have 50% less ram.

  • lol I even got off topic, sorry. this isn't about verizons customer service, or network. this is about verizon Crippling this and many other phone. giving their customers LESS for the money their giveing.

  • Shit i only have verizon coverage in my area

  • VERIZON is so EVIL! they are always locking down features and crippling their phones! I'm especially ticked off to hear about the GPS, and you didn't even mention the ram! Verizon is so heartless... how can you ever feel like you actually own your phone the way they disable certain features, and on top of that THEY CHARGE MORE AND GIVE YOU LESS FEATURES! IF only people really knew how verizon is getting over. I'm just frustrated that verizon gets away with this all of the time and NOBODY CARES!

  • you can find plenty of features for free online. thats the joy of the internet.

  • weapondrift, I agree. but this is usually out of the question for the average user. and you really shouldn't have to search the internet for a fix a number of features that are included in other touch pros on all of the other networks. for example unlocked gps so you can use free gps software like Google maps or Live search. and personally I own Igo8 which is a excellent gps program and DOESN'T REQUIRE A EXTERNAL GPS ON MY SPRINT TOUCH PRO. and it shouldn't on verizons ether in my opinion.

  • Im part of a forum that has a bunch of freeware for Q's mostly. Since the HTC and the Q both share .cab format files it should be able to work. I understand your frustration completly, but Im only offering you an alternate to your problem. :)

  • I have been considering porting over the Sprint TP over to VZW, but I am a bit skeptical due to the fact that I have never done anything like that before. And majority of people that have sucessfully ported the phone over has had a mobile PPC from my understanding. As soon as I can get my hands on $600, I will probably be attempting it. =)

  • You could also hack the device and place some of the missing options back on the device, but the with the Youtube client you still won't be able to stream vids because Verizon won't allow you to do this. Verizon is really starting to Suck.

  • Hmmm...from what other people say about Verizon's version of the phone, it didn't lag too badly when you demonstrated it. I am still upset that Verizon's Touch Pro has lower specs. I've waited a year for this phone to release and when I heard it was coming out for Verizon I was excited. No Youtube, locked GPS, and poor wifi reception is just really bad imo. Please correct me if I am wrong. =(

Anyways thanks for the nice review. =)

  • Sorry my friend but you are right, I am with Verizon aswell but won't pay a mandatory data package for a phone that is over priced and has been gimped. if one doesn't NEED the "NETWORK" i suggest looking into the At&t Fuze (Touch Pro)on At&t. Another option is to purchase the sprint touch pro and use that on Verizon's network. There is a video here on youtube with that being done.

  • I left verizon about 4 years ago. I have sprint now and I couldn't be happier I made the switch.

I made the switch because I noticed verizon always seemed to cripple their phones when compared to the other networks, in my case bluetooth. I live in the tri-state area and sprint works great here I never loose signal, the internet is really fast, and their plains are way more reasonable than verizons. anyway verizon is over hyped and for them to this to their phones is a slap in the face

  • Even if gps was unlocked on the Verizon network....google maps doesnt really give you turn by turn or voice directions. thts why the software for the app. is expensive..and also vz wants some profit too so they add in a few bucks. Im sry but google maps is not the Bizz.

  • your right, verizon has every right to lock htc's gps hardware to their network and make that choice for you. they also have the right to access the same GPS signal everyone else accesses for free world wide thanks to the United States Department of Defense and charge YOU. if only tomtom, and Garmin, and all the GPS hardware makes would catch on and charge you a monthly fee AFTER buying their hardware! I think Everyone should charge you monthly for the U.S's free gps service...

  • I'm sorry i am came off as a smart ass, i won't respond to anything else about this video anymore because my view on this is too strong and anything people say to try and rationalize this just pisses me off, wrong is wrong.. sorry

  • itzmando, The problem isn't that verizon is offering you their gps software (for a monthly fee). The problem is verizon is ONLY allowing you to use their GPS software. OK lets say you don't like the free options, which dosen't matter because you don't have the luxury of OPTIONS lol. I use IGO8, it does turn by turn directions, text to speech and stores the maps on the phone so I don't even need a phone signal to use it, and its a one time fee... this is a pocket pc phone. not a dumb phone.

  • and what I mean when I say this is a pocket pc phone not a dumb phone is... dumb phones your used to being able to install anything new onto it. but for a windows mobile phone you can, so its unusual for gps to be LOCKED to verizons gps software exclusively... don't you like having freedom and options? lol like isn't that one of the things that should make a WM phone appealing. because you can install stuff on it? and in this case I do stress SHOULD lol.
