  • Ugh. Boring!

  • what about the most important reason to not eat baby carrots?????? they are put in bleach to get that smoothness.

  • Why peel the carrots? Isn't that where the bulk of the vitamins are? Seems like these are the Hostess Twinkies of the carrot world. Next they'll be deep fried and salted.

  • it does not take 52 sec to make carrots

  • Oh, so sexy.

  • please leave this planet JogBird

  • HOW IS BABBY CARROT FORMED?

  • @Savant16807 peelers

  • This video shows nothing of how baby carrots are made. If I were to go by the brief parts of the video between shots of people shopping for and eating packaged baby carrots, I'd have to assume that they're plucked from the ground as whole carrots and then magically transform into the little uniform shaved down sticks.

  • I know regular carrots take a little longer to get soft if boil than potatoes ( thats why I start boiling the carrots earlyer for mash ) but baby carrots take FOREVER compare to regular one...why ?

  • @luc649 Baby carrots are a slightly different "cultivar" (breed). 1. They stay skinny. 2. Both the outer part and the inner part are orange instead of orange and whitish. 3. They contain more sugar. They were bred to be sweet and crunchy; one of the main genetic lines used to "create" them was a very crunchy cold-weather-loving variety that resists freezing. They're just a bit higher in fiber than big starchy carrots that go good in stew.

  • I was fully expecting to see carrots GETTIN' IT ON! "That's how baby carrots are made." o.O

  • 0:13 i want that machine and garden :D

  • are you people dumb? baby carrots are not healthy, they are doused in chemicals before packaging. look it up!

  • @08rusl

If you leave them in the fridge too long, they get white and slimy. That's the chlorine they're soaked in to keep them fresh coming back out. REAL appetizing, isn't it?

  • @hippiegurl6222 Stupid hippie. That's not chlorine, it's just dehydration. They are skinless, so they dehydrate faster.

  • WOW!!! Baby carrots arent reeally baby???? OMG

  • it's pretty fucking gross that our vegtables go through all these fucking machines

  • @Imontheinternet111 not really.. u should be happy our species has made amazing machinery to help us with our every day lives.

  • i Love baby carrots... Yums!

  • gimmedavidb states, " I can't believe the announcer in the video said that eating carrots improves eyesight," and then said, "Read Snopes again CAREFULLY."

Hey gimmedavidb, Perhaps you should LISTEN CAREFULLY. The announcer says "helps" eyesight, not "improves." Just thought you'd like to know.

  • @maitaitom Who cares what snopes.com says? Everyone knows carrots have a lot of vitamin A which is good for your eyes. Whether it improves eyesight or not is up for debate. You can't believe everything you read at snopes or wikipedia. We are all humans inputing info for other humans GEEZE!

  • And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why you have nationwide food recalls and thousands getting sick. A little bit of contamination goes a very very long way! Buy local and in season!

  • I can't believe the announcer in the video said that eating carrots improves eyesight. That is 100% myth. This misinformation was created during WWI by the U.S. military as a joke against the Germans who were impressed with the U.S. Air Force's bobming accuracy.

Shame on the carrot industry for B.S.ing the American public!

  • @gimmedavidb According to snopes, carrots contain Vitamin A which is important for eyesight, fighting infections and etc. How is this misinformation?

  • @chechnya Read snopes again CAREFULLY. The site says that eating carrots does not improve eyesight. The vitamin A content is good for eye health maintenance though. The only thing I was wrong on was the country that main the claim. It was the British air force, not the American. My apologies for that.

  • @gimmedavidb I think that's what I said in my response. That carrots contain Vitamin A which is necessary for eye health.

  • Comment removed

  • That carrot picking machine is so cool.

  • they forgot to mention that the carrots are dipped into chlorine

  • doesn't really matter, it gets them clean and bac-free at least. It won't kill you in little doses, and it's water soluble too. Even if it wasn't, you'd have to drink strait up chlorine to even get sick, and I don't think that people in their right mind would do that.

  • point one : I like to know ! and be informed about it

point 2 not everyone on this planet thinks bacteria is bad. point 3 not everyone of us uses chlorine / chemicals like it is going out of style i like to have a choice... I rather build up my immune system ... then try to protect it with man made crap ... you have a immune system for a reason. anyways thanks for you opinion. either way we have a right to know and choose that was my point. have a good one

  • THX, a small dose is a dose nevertheless. Any chemical, even at a dose as small as one part per billion could potentially be harmful as it's synergistic effects are measured differently and vary from person to person. Everyone who reads this should check out toxicology...just google it if you get the chance.

  • I think that's an urban myth. Especially since chlorine is a gas, not a liquid that something can be dipped into.

They're probably just washed with chlorinated water, much like most other vegetables are.

  • i am so enlightened. i always wondered what was the deal with baby carrots.

  • or maybe this is just going on in Canada? Please let me know if you know anything about it.

  • yea i got an e mail sayin the same thing so ur not the only one

  • I got an e-mail earlier this week from a friend saying that baby carrots are dipped in a solution of water and chlorine in order to perserve them... have you ever heard of that?

  • it's somewhat true.

apparently all veggies can be treated with chlorine as an accepted antimicrobial measure, according to the canadian food inspection agency. but the veggies that are treated are then rinsed with water before packaging to remove the excess... makes me want to grow my own carrots - too bad I crave them so much in the winter!

  • I got an email saying the chlorine in the baby carrots cause cancer (just now), which made me do a search and I came upon this video.

  • You guys do realise that chlorine is alright in small doses, why do you think you aren't sent to the hospital for accidentally drinking pool water? Unless that's some NASTY pool water. :(P At least the carrots arent covered with nasty microbes and such.

  • define "alright" THX

  • everything causes cancer... >.>

  • yes
