What do you think about using this as desktop speakers? Can It be mounted to Samsung T220? Will cable be long enough? I'm lookin for stereo speakers uses only USB cable for audio and power both for most compact use. And that seems the best option so far. I'll be using it for only games and sometimes music. I have currently Labtec LCS 1012, ten years old, still sounds kinda good tough, is this one as good as it? (Have a 5.1 in another room for movies, so not really looking for that kinda options)
@berker1711 These will work fine as an alternative to desktop speakers. Mounting on a T220 will depend on the thickness of the LCD monitor frame. If it doesn't mount, you could always set it on you desk behind the monitor. I did try this with a desktop computer and it works. You will need a USB extension cable because the built-in cable is short - maybe 16 inches at the most. You can also plug your iPod/iPhone or any other MP3 player into it as well.
@MYSOGGYPEACHES If the XBox USB ports supply power, then you should be able to use it with the XBox. But it is not necessarily a computer so I'm not sure what output signals come out of the USB connection. I don't own an XBox so I can't check.
@BlueZone180 I didn't measure the speaker since I'm not on the computer where the speaker is mounted but I believe it is about 12 inches long. I just measured my 17" laptop and I know it is not as wide as that laptop.
Nice review, everything you´d want to know is included the product is shown from all angles and buttons etc is shown in detail. White background & good lightning makes everything easy to see and there are no distractions. Nice summary as well. Hope u do more reviews of stuff I really liked the quality of the review! Excellent!
@dudewheresmydvd I think you'll find it will be loud enough. Before I had the Z305, I had to put my head next to my laptop to hear the audio even with the volume all the way up. Now, I can understand dialogue and enjoy music from across the room.
@TheRenderQ Thanks for the reply :). They were loud enough but I took it back because I fixed my laptops audio and they didn't add a lot to it. For anyone with audio problems (i have the asus g74sx) update your graphics card :)
This is an excellent review. This video gave me great insight on what these speakers looked like and how they sounded. great editing to show us the speakers from various angles on both laptops. Thank you very much!
since these speakers point out left and right does it sound like the sound is going away from you? or does it seem like it sounds like its still in your face?
Someone can says me if there are better speakers than Logitech Z515 ? It seems to be really good but someone says it doesnt have good bass... So i'm looking for the best ... Sorry for my english :)
@marcelorebellonunes Sorry, I haven't used the Phillips speaker before. I got the Z305 because it is very unobtrusive when hooked up to my 17" laptop. Still love it!
@Blaze0777 Unfortunately, there is not that much bass from this speaker. It sounds average but it is still a huge improvement on laptops without built-in premium speaker systems.
This looks very awesome, I'm looking to buy it hopefully, but I have a question, is it good with bass and a booming feeling with high bass songs? Once I know this answer, I'll trot onto Best Buy after class one of these days.
@TheRenderQ Actually, I went to go buy this, and well I couldn't find it, but I stumbled across the Logitech Z313 Speaker set, those are some amazing speakers with a subwoofer, for 40 bucks plus a 2 year 10 dollar protection plan, its the best 50 bucks I've ever spent. If you have the chance to check them out, I recommend it highly. Sadly though, instead of USB plug in its earphone, and they're not portable. But being able to plug it into anything with a 3.5 mm earjack is a major upside.
Any insight on how the bass on this unit is? I just got my Dell laptop today and love it. The only problem is I can't hear any bass out of the speakers. Now I'm no audiophile by any means but I do like to hear some bass. Everything about this unit looks great and I haven't heard much negative about the bass yet, if you say it's good enough I think I'll have to buy one! Thanks, great review video btw.
My biggest problem with this product is that the sound gets maxed out at 50% on my laptop. It sounds great, but I would like to have the full adjustment used from 0-100%.
I would like to get this, but I have a question. For some reason, my right side speaker on my laptop loses sound occasionally. Would I still get sound from the left and right side speakers of the Z305 even when one of my laptop speakers goes out?
@hermiebandit Sorry, I don't know the answer to that question since I don't have one of those computers to test it out on. But if that computer accepts USB devices like on a Mac or PC, it might work. Just not sure.
@TheRenderQ Well, I purchased one and it does not work. While these computers do have a USB drives they don't support (at this time) devices that require drivers to be downloaded and installed. I think however in the future they will update it to support such a feature as many people use USB devices these days.
Awesome Review!!! I have a 17" Dell Studio Laptop and the factory speakers are pretty bad. Your review has sold me on this and I plan to purchase one tomorrow. Thank you very much!!!
@JP105INYO Nice! It makes a world of difference on the Dell Studio 17. Sorry I didn't use the Studio 17 in my review. It stays at home especially now that my screen hinge is cracked and loose on the right side. I don't dare close the lid for fear it might fall apart! Hope you enjoy the Z305 as much as I do!
I've ordered this speaker and I'm already satisfied just seeing the review it has'nt arrived yet but I'm already happy, I'm still curious about the claimed '360' sound that apparently fills the room when you use the speaker; but I suppose anything's better than KISS coming out of my boring laptop speakers lol thanks for the great review :)
@chrisharris2507 Yeah, not sure about the 360 sound but it sounds good to me. My laptop sits on a desk in the kitchen between a wall and refridgerator. Now I can use my Dell Studio 17 for music while I cook. Before I got the Z305, the sound was harsh and I could barely make out the voices on songs and videos.
Great review! I've been doing my research online and narrowed it down to this model. Just wondering if anybody has any experience with this particular model (Z305) and Linux (in particular, Ubuntu). I guess I'll find out soon enough but if anybody out there can shed some light on Linux compatibility, I'd be greatful. Cheers.
@TheRenderQ That's ok. I ended up ordering it anyways. I've been a long time Logitech customer and their products never failed me so I chanced it and what do you know? It worked! :) And for your Ubuntu users I've also added this to the Linux HCL at "linuxhcl[DOT]com" so you won't have to wonder. Cheers!
How's the bass on this thing? I think it's really cool and I'm planning to get one :)

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a portable solution in order to enhance the quality of my laptop speakers (which is close to nothing at the moment).
Which one is better: Z305 or a lapdesk N700?
Thanks in advance for your opinion.
