  • Nice! my 85 has edelbrock headers

  • How much horsepower does this Trans Am have, because I've got a

1985 Firebird Trans Am that has a 450 hp V8 engine with the dual-exhaust system thats common for pick up trucks. Its so fuckin cool how mine sounds. Oh yea, my account says im 14 because i accidentally put 1996, but i was actually born in 1991.

  • @Mrssadiepug ...not much...Maybe 150 to 155 HP. pretty weak, actually. But that's the late 70's and 80's for you...emissions created crappy HP ratings.

  • @thedudeman321 that the reason i swapped mine i hate that crap even the 89 gta had 190hp thats like a grand am v6......its got a 350 now idk the hp tho

  • my mom got rid of my 85 :(

  • Sounds good!

  • I'll trade you my 99 lincoln town car for this ;)

  • are you running a cat on this system?

  • at the time this video was taken, there was a cat.

  • WOW!!! Sounds sick!!!

  • Sounds sick, I've had flowmaster, and dynomax on my trans am's but right now I have a formula 350 with a 3-inch edelbrock cat-back and I'll never buy any other exhaust for it, sounds TOTALLY SICK...especially with my big cam

  • oh, btw, not to be annoying, where did you order it from?

  • how much did the setup cost after installation and everything?

  • about $300 for the system. I installed it myself.

  • wow, thats cheap. sounds sick nasty.

  • I had this car... in a better, more simpilier time.

P.S. When I drove this car down the highway, girls would randomly flash me. Has NEVER happened before or since.

    Such is life.

  • dude sounds healthy. exactly like the car im looking at, but white, and what i want it to sound like.

  • are your tail lights tinted as well?

  • Nope, just the stock grid pattern.

  • ohh they look darker there...now with that exhaust did it bolt right up to your stock y-pipe? cause after watching this video and having an identical car im seriously considering buying that exhaust lol.

  • I miss that sounds so much.

  • nice man...same motor thats in my 85 TA...got the stock sound which i like but a lot deeper...sounds really aggressive good work.

  • could you give me all the details and dimensions on the exhuast cause i want my 85 TA to sound like that

  • It's an 85 Trans Am LG4 (carb'd 305), in this video, stock manifolds and cat, stock intake, edelbrock 3" mandrel bent catback, SDT muffler. Base timing set at 6 degrees BTDC.

It's got headers and an open element now and sounds much better. Eventually it'll be cammed and will have better heads.

Just the catback can be found on summit or jegs for a little under $300 before tax or shipping.

  • nice...do you have the part number from jegs?...and any idea if they can shit to canada?

  • agreed valve seals. all small block chevies do it. i have a 305 in my camaro, same thing smoke at start up. in fact i run the same exhaust you have. its loud but sounds aggresive. i have the 3" eldlebrock SDT with a 3" cat and edlebrock shortie headers.

  • dude your burning oil... time to get some new piston rings or you have a head Gasket leak or unless its really cold over there

  • Nope, neither. Valve seals. If you know anything about chevy motors you know they all do it at some point in their life. No smoke after it first starts up

  • haha you got me yea my 91 camaro needed new valve seals too i thought you had the car running the whole time my bad

  • I love it! I just got a 85 trans am and have a edlebrock setup to go on it. HOPEFULLY it sounds as good as yours!
