This camera is somewhat outdated now. I still suggest film but if you are going to shoot Professional HD is prefer the RED camera. Seeing The last two David Fincher films, The Social Network and The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo really proved at least to me if you shoot digital go RED. Still it is not always the camera but the person(s) behind the camera that makes the difference and knowing what you want.

@marcopiu82 I doesn't have one, Panavision does not sell their cameras, they are rented for between $1-2k a day each, depending on the package. If you put a cost on one, Just the body (no lens, vf, hd) has been valued at $400-500k

@VictoriaEveCominsky Sorry to tell you but Panavision only rents and does not sell. They still have some of the first panaflex cameras from the 70's in inventory in some places.

You can't buy Panavision cameras, they don't sell them. You can only rent them. Same with the lenses.

I still see that the BNCR mount is being used (now called the Panavision mount). Mitchell was and still is the BEST camera for film, and cost. Hey, if you are going to convert digital back to film at a buck a frame (cheapest I have ever found), why not just shoot on film? Unless, of course, you are just playing around....

It's like assembliine a rifle. Anyway, it looks very much like the F23. But don't worry guys, the memory cards and Chinese manufacturing are about to kill all of these. You don't believe me? It happens quickly. For insance, the Sony 7040 DAT machine used to be pretty cool, but it got soon replaced by a cheesy PC with even cheesier LCD. So, enjoy those nicely manufactured things while they last in the global economy.

Considering Panavision spent over $40 million developing the genesis and there can't be more than a hundred or so I dare say they cost the company much more. But they've been around for almost 10 years and are very popular rentals so I'm sure they've made the company lots of money.

You can't, unless you work for a film company. This is commercial grade. I'm sure though that you might be able to find an independent reseller online but thats if your lucky.
