You do need them to be loud. It's the vibrations that do it. It puts your heart and lugs under stress.

Subs are cool and all but u can have a lung collapse if you have the bass up to much. That's way I stick to just one 12 and keep the bass simi low and that's good enogh for me. :]

most subs on the market wont go loud enough for you to have your lungs collapse.
