Who can say with 100% certainty if it safe or not. I remember a point in history where RADIUM was used in condoms, painted on teeth and other such UNSAFE practices. Oh and they are dead now from the practices that were "safe" - History warns us all the time
what if hawking radiation is wrong its just a theory and we have never scientifically observed a real black hole there is not conclusive empirical proof they exsist. Though I believe that they are a possible phenomenon, we really know too little about black holes to say with any certainty how they may react or behave, and until we do we should not play with any experiment that could set off one of these black holes, till we know more. we are like toddlers who have just found a loaded gun
@DJM4EVER1 What happens in the LHC happens constantly in nature all around us and in the sun. Because black holes are noit tearing the sun and the earth apart as we speakl, we know one from the LHC aint going to do that either. We also know hawking radiation is real too, we've seen it when we point telescopes at black-holes.
@MrShayneOneill i checked out what you said and your right this does happen in nature all around us like you said. i wasnt aware of that till now but you are correct
Yep, I heard about black hole evaporation in an astrophysics class. Any given mass has a Swarzchild radius...this is basically how tight you have to compress a given mass to get it to collapse in on itself in order for gravity to overwhelm repulsive forces (how much you have to concentrate the gravitational effects of all the nuclei together to start denting spacetime that much). You could make a black hole out of the mouse on your desk...wouldn't last long, though, and it'd be VERY tiny.
Run out of mass to feed on. its clock doesn't start ticking till it runs out of mass to eat up (near by stars). the sun doesn't even have enough mass to create a black hole.
There is another point you miss. There isn't enough mass from two particals to create a black hole.another thing you've got wrong is that black holes will only expire when they
There is enough mass.... but the black hole would be impossibly small. Look at the sixty symbals video on black holes and scale the theory that they present down to an atomic level.
Due to quantum effects, particles near the even horizon will be able to leave the black hole in the form of radiation. Black holes do eventually 'dissolve' is a sense. Microscopic black holes have an event horizon that is so small, other atoms couldn't freely get sucked into it.
@xccmx your suggesting micro black holes couldnt feed on atoms, you are mistaken, micro black hole could feed on the individual sub-atomic particles that make up an atom, such as the nucleus containing protons and neutrons surrounded by electrons in orbital around the nucleus, it could feed on that till the atom was consumed this may not be relevant with in our lifetime but how big could the BH become say in 100,000 years a time machine might show only a black hole were our galaxy used to be
@DJM4EVER1 Hawkings radiation makes mini black holes evaporate. Besides, there is too much empty space outside the Earth as to keep any black hole from growing to engulf the whole galaxy... heck most galaxies (including our own) have collosal black holes in their centers that would take billions of Earths to build and yet, we are still here.
Hawking Radiation is basically a quantum mechanics effect. On the quantum level, matter/antimatter particles pop in to existence and immediately destroy each other. What Hawking Radiation is is when a particle of antimatter falls in to the black hole, and the particle of matter is outside the event horizon and does not fall in to the black hole. The reason that bigger ones take longer to die off is because they consume far more ambiant cosmic radiation and matter then small ones.
Get your facts straight and then make a coherent video. Why even make it if you stated that you don't understand it?
This is why there is so much dis-information in the world. You don't understand what your talking about, then you decide to make a video and post it publicly so others can take your false information and spread it as fact.
@IHateRapMusic1 Hi. I personally know two independent methods of deriving Hawking radiation: a method called the null geodesic tunneing method by Parikh and another sometimes called the imaginary time method. The third method I have heard of, which is the one Hawking used, involves quantum thermal field theory. So that shows strong theoretical support! Also an analogous radiation has recently been experimentally detected (there are many papers on arxiv.org). Hope that helps.
We should be concerned with the genetic modification of our entire food supply. That's a real conspiracy Because this does have the potential to harm our ecosystem and its system of checks and balances..
They don't just "go away", they become galaxies, solar systems. This breakthrough is absolutely amazing. It explains why everything "in between" galaxies is so sparse and integrates the cyclical nature of all that exists in nature
Hawking radiation is what happens when matter, positive energy and mass, and antimatter, negative energy and mass, meet at the event horizon of a black hole. The matter has enough energy to escape the black hole while the matter doesn't. The antimatter lessens the mass of the black hole thus causing it to shrink. The reason it is called radiation is because the matter flying away from the black hole looks like radiation. Got it?
How does extremely blue shifted cosmic background radiation effects hawking's radiation? Electron positron pair bubble into existence. One falls below event horizon. Extremely blue shifted CMB radiation bears down on the newly formed positron. Will it last long enough to annihilate with an electron making Gama radiation to be red shifted as it climes out of the gravity well?

haha i just read your profile and it says you are 27! you are three years older than me jackass, and your going to say im "young" implying that you've got years of wisdom on me?? what??
@junior00bacon00chee Actually, black holes were first proposed because the mathematics says they should exist.
We now know that there are a lot of them in the universe. You seem to think your own intellect trumps mathematics. You are a fool. Space-time bends. This has been tested.
(hadron collider) and your video is not very informative. hawking radiation simply put is negative mass being brought in from particles forming outside, cansoling out the black holes mass
My point was if the speed of light is the universal speed limit, then the force from the gravity cannot act faster than the speed of light. If those two forces are at equal against each other then it would be at neutral, so where did the lights go? If our known universe was empty and we put in two black holes on each side of the universe, will they attract each other instantly? I think so. They will gradually accelerate towards each other until they become lights.
since the quarks inside it would be closer ..and gravity gets stronger as distance gets smaller ..
it wont be a huge ammount ...
if a proton and another proton smash into smaller particles ...wich THEN turn into mini black holes ....thoose particles wont even have the gravitational pull of a proton ...its so neglijable its almost zero ....
AND they would "evaporate" way to fast to even begin to pull something..
Apologies - Electromagnetism. We know that Einstein didn't account for this - but Tesla did. Of Einstein's (unfinished) relativity theory Tesla said ' It is like a beggar dressed in purple whom ignorant people take to be a King!
The universe and everything in it is alive with Electricity - until we understand the Electric universe thoroughly - we are like a man in a cave who doesn't know if it is light or dark outside - we still keep trying to find the light switch. CERN is bullshit & a waste.
Ha - what's happened here is that you have seen the latest Dan Brown film and are now talking SHITE! There are many theories as to the science behind black holes! Hawking radiation just describes how the black hole is either stable, growing or shrinking (entropy) depending on the thermal radiation it is giving off! It doesn't get over Trans-Plancktian problem. Personally - I believe that until they start to include eletcromagnetism into their equations - they will never get passed this.
that is right for a small black hole the hawking radiation which are particles leaving the black hole at speeds higher than the light the only way to escape is like energy, is like if the black hole transform all the matter in radiation. there is something bigger in the LHC that we dont know. he created a black hole that already eat the money of the americans
im not sure i have this 100 pct... but basically if you wanna understand hawking radiation you have to get into quantum mechanics a little bit (and some of its surrounding theories... string theory, etc)
Okay so, there are particles and anti-particles that fill space.. They form, seperate, and then consume each other. Sometimes, one of these negatively charged particles falls into the black hole.... the positive particle is able to escape as radiation
and they dont "actually" leave FROM the black hole
the way hawking radiation works is different
in empty space particle-anti particle pair are created out of nothing all the time , virtual particles ....when this happens near a black hole ..the anti particle with negative mass gets sucked in ..lowering the mass of the black hole ..the other particle flies off as radiation.
The gravitational attraction of a black hole beyond the event horizon is no more than a non-collapsed object of similar mass. In other words, a black hole with 10 times the mass of our sun would exert the same gravitational attraction as a star with 10 times the mass of our sun. A black hole with the mass of a few subatomic particles isn't going to amount to much.
terrible just terrible the title is conspiracy nuts dont understand blackholes.... NEITHER DO YOU, you hypocritical idiot. Look at how stupid you are. You make a movie insulting people and try to school them, when you dont even understand the concepts you are trying to school them on. Hypocrisy at its finest.
Think! These people are spending over two billion dollars to create this particle accelerator to conduct a scientific test. That's not a theory, its what is known. So who would fund this? Why? What are they getting back? Now we must contemplate conspiracy therapy, as we SHOULD have when things don't make sense.
you didn´t tell us anything we didn´t know already, you didn´t prove anything in you´re monologue and for all we know black holes don´t even really exist.
I have a better question. If black hole could grow so fast and eat up the earth , then why supermassive black holes in the center of our galaxy sill havent eaten us up ? They too would grow woulnt they ?
The reason why the supermassive black hole in the center of our and all galaxies haven't "eaten us up" already is the same why we haven't crashed into our sun.
We are in orbit around it.
Those black holes "eat" matter from time to time but this causes a slight acceleration because it's mass grows and we are pulled faster into it.
The supermassive black holes are the reason why there are galaxies.
actually ..gravity is the reason there are galaxies ...black holes are just a concequence of too much gravity :)
super massive black holes dont evaporate cus they have enough normal matter to suck in ...
but mini black holes evaporate fast cus they cant even suck in another proton ...by the time they evaporate they probably cant even infulence another particle.
all theese "black hole" conspiracy nuts who think the LHC will kill us are retards.
You're close. First, if the LHC could produce a black hole, it would evaporate via Hawking Radiation. This, however, would release a substantial (and detectable) amount of radiation. Second, since cosmic rays are propagating through the ether all the time, at much higher energies (i.e. trans-TeV energies), and not forming miniature black holes, the LHC has no hope of creating them at it's smaller energies.
Basically, in space, there is always subatomic activity. Particles of mass and negative mass are always being created in a way not yet fully understood by science. These particles usually destroy each other instantly upon creation. However, when in the presence of black holes, because black holes are still made of matter, the negative mass is attracted while the positive mass is expelled as Hawking radiation. The negative mass, on contact with the positive mass of the BH, slowly destroys it.
Along with hawking radiation, black holes can only be created by compressing matter into an extremely dense state. and black holes only have a certain range in which they can absorb matter. outside that range, nothing is affected. this means that the most they could do is dent the inside of the LHC.
What we can say for sure is cosmic-ray level energy collisions cannot create dangerous micro black holes because if they could neutron stars would not exist. Therefore products of the LHC cannot produce dangerous black holes.
First I would like to say that I don't think they flip the switch and the "lights of the universe go out." However in as much as the cotton gin, the internal combustion engine, nuclear technology, etc, in as much as they did great things, they brought terrible things as well..Every advancement has a price, I am 100% sure whatever they learn at CERN will go into the next generation of weaponry. And I am 100% sure we won't know 100% of what they learn about whatever it is they create.
Basically hawking radiation centers around the idea that particles and anti-particles pop in and out of existence all the time. They exist for a very short time before they annihilate each-other. It was theorized that a black hole would suck in the anti-particle and not the normal particle, which would cause the black hole to lose mass. There's no observational evidence of it's existence at all.
and...particles and anti-particles popping in and out of existence all the time centers around the idea of the uncertainty principle which states that we can't know exactly the momentum and position of a particle, so it can't be zero as we would then know the position and momentum to be zero, the consequence is that a particle can't precisely not exist, it must be in a verge of existence or have a potential of existence.
Hawking radiation is NOT fact, it's a completely unproven theory. Hawking radiation is NOT the argument to use against these people, the neutron star argument is.
Umm, black holes according to my understanding of them get bigger and denser the more they (eat) suck up matter. So, eve a mini black hole could eat and grow into a stable bigger black hole. Black holes do not evaporate. Over long periods of inactivity they let out radiation and the matter they have eaten and they get smaller and smaller till the blip out of existance.
The only reason I say that is because I saw this guy who wrote a book on tv last night talking about black holes. His book I think was called Death by Black Hole: And Other Cosmic Quandaries
Actually it's when they're eating/devouring matter that they let out the most radiation. The matter swirling around the black hole, right before crossing the point of no return (event horizon) sends out tremendous amounts of gamma/x-rays. When a black hole is not feeding it is silent. Hawking radiation, if it does exist, is not something you would be able to notice or detect in stellar black holes.
The public has a misunderstanding of the LHC. The LHC is the biggest particle collider in the world, working with much higher energies. Michu Kaku explains the experiment best by describing it as crash wristwatchs into each other at high speeds, and then looking at the debris after they collide into on another, this debris only lasts in Planck time, and this debris are particles that were created during the big bang. Now anything is possible especially when you are dealing with singularties.
@TristanPEJ But it takes about 10^109 years for this to happen to a solar mass black hole.
Of course, if the black hole is created from just two protons, it will be absolutely minuscule, so it will evaporate in an instant. The Hawking radiation will happen much faster than it could ever take in matter
the Large Hadron Collider can't match the numbers of high energy collisions that occur in the upper atmosphere due to cosmic rays, we haven't been swallowed by a any of those mini-black holes just like Cern won't destroy the world
fucking boring...

my goodness.
junior00bacon00chee 1 year ago
@junior00bacon00chee Actually, black holes were first proposed because the mathematics says they should exist.
We now know that there are a lot of them in the universe. You seem to think your own intellect trumps mathematics. You are a fool. Space-time bends. This has been tested.

(hadron collider) and your video is not very informative. hawking radiation simply put is negative mass being brought in from particles forming outside, cansoling out the black holes mass
colin8696908 1 year ago
if lights cant escape from black hole than those forces must act faster than speed of light. speed of gravity are much greater.
deaftodd 2 years ago
the only reason light cannot escape is because light has particles as well as energy. the particles are what keepit from escaping
johnbruder01 1 year ago
My point was if the speed of light is the universal speed limit, then the force from the gravity cannot act faster than the speed of light. If those two forces are at equal against each other then it would be at neutral, so where did the lights go? If our known universe was empty and we put in two black holes on each side of the universe, will they attract each other instantly? I think so. They will gradually accelerate towards each other until they become lights.
deaftodd 1 year ago
i suppose you are correct i found your question interesting so i looked into the universe in a nut shell and that was the only answer i could find
johnbruder01 1 year ago
light may not even have the energy of light because it would require infinite mass and energy or at least infinite mass.
colin8696908 1 year ago
@colin8696908 No, they have zero mass. Anything with zero mass moves at the speed of light.

A proton turned into a black hole would have the same gravitational pull as a regular proton, it would just be much smaller.
shamsael 2 years ago
i dont really think so ..
since the quarks inside it would be closer ..and gravity gets stronger as distance gets smaller ..
it wont be a huge ammount ...
if a proton and another proton smash into smaller particles ...wich THEN turn into mini black holes ....thoose particles wont even have the gravitational pull of a proton ...its so neglijable its almost zero ....

CERN is bullshit & a waste.
chumbawomba 2 years ago

Eduardo1777 2 years ago
im not sure i have this 100 pct... but basically if you wanna understand hawking radiation you have to get into quantum mechanics a little bit (and some of its surrounding theories... string theory, etc)
Okay so, there are particles and anti-particles that fill space.. They form, seperate, and then consume each other. Sometimes, one of these negatively charged particles falls into the black hole.... the positive particle is able to escape as radiation
bassbole 2 years ago 2

shamsael 2 years ago
they dont move faster than light ....
and they dont "actually" leave FROM the black hole
the way hawking radiation works is different
in empty space particle-anti particle pair are created out of nothing all the time , virtual particles ....when this happens near a black hole ..the anti particle with negative mass gets sucked in ..lowering the mass of the black hole ..the other particle flies off as radiation.
sidewaysfcs0718 2 years ago 2
If I remember correctly Stephen Hawkins himself admited that he was wrong about Hawkin radiation?
Black holes do not deteriorate over time because it would break the laws of science?
I think there is a documentary about that here on Youtube.
I think that he is currently writing a book about it.
BlizBob 2 years ago
no , he was wrong about how hawking radiation works ..not if it exists or not..
HR is real ...it just works in a different way ...its about virtual particle and negative mass and temperature and stuff..
but still correct.
he was originally claiming nothing can escape a black hole ...thats where he wasnt 100 % correct ..
sidewaysfcs0718 2 years ago

The black hole crap is a cover.
Think! These people are spending over two billion dollars to create this particle accelerator to conduct a scientific test. That's not a theory, its what is known. So who would fund this? Why? What are they getting back? Now we must contemplate conspiracy therapy, as we SHOULD have when things don't make sense.

you didn´t tell us anything we didn´t know already, you didn´t prove anything in you´re monologue and for all we know black holes don´t even really exist.
aikidoka20 2 years ago
I have a better question. If black hole could grow so fast and eat up the earth , then why supermassive black holes in the center of our galaxy sill havent eaten us up ? They too would grow woulnt they ?
cyberdaemon 2 years ago
The reason why the supermassive black hole in the center of our and all galaxies haven't "eaten us up" already is the same why we haven't crashed into our sun.
We are in orbit around it.
Those black holes "eat" matter from time to time but this causes a slight acceleration because it's mass grows and we are pulled faster into it.
The supermassive black holes are the reason why there are galaxies.
BlizBob 2 years ago 2
actually ..gravity is the reason there are galaxies ...black holes are just a concequence of too much gravity :)
super massive black holes dont evaporate cus they have enough normal matter to suck in ...
but mini black holes evaporate fast cus they cant even suck in another proton ...by the time they evaporate they probably cant even infulence another particle.
all theese "black hole" conspiracy nuts who think the LHC will kill us are retards.
sidewaysfcs0718 2 years ago
If you don't know anything, you have 2 choices: learn something about it (try reading a book on this stuff) or just shut up!
The only things right in your rambling monlogue: there is a place called CERN, there are black holes, and there is Hawking radiation.
There is an old adage: be quiet and be tohought a fool or speak and prove it! Guess what? You proved it very well!!

Why would you make a video of something you know nothing about? Youtube is a cluster of crap now.
JayDay111 2 years ago
You're close. First, if the LHC could produce a black hole, it would evaporate via Hawking Radiation. This, however, would release a substantial (and detectable) amount of radiation. Second, since cosmic rays are propagating through the ether all the time, at much higher energies (i.e. trans-TeV energies), and not forming miniature black holes, the LHC has no hope of creating them at it's smaller energies.
skeptoid1974 3 years ago
Imagine being a germ in the particle excellerator and getting your membrane riped off buy this mini black hold lol
ostapslobodian 3 years ago
Basically, in space, there is always subatomic activity. Particles of mass and negative mass are always being created in a way not yet fully understood by science. These particles usually destroy each other instantly upon creation. However, when in the presence of black holes, because black holes are still made of matter, the negative mass is attracted while the positive mass is expelled as Hawking radiation. The negative mass, on contact with the positive mass of the BH, slowly destroys it.
archvile2000000 3 years ago
Along with hawking radiation, black holes can only be created by compressing matter into an extremely dense state. and black holes only have a certain range in which they can absorb matter. outside that range, nothing is affected. this means that the most they could do is dent the inside of the LHC.
xXbrokenskaterXx 3 years ago
What we can say for sure is cosmic-ray level energy collisions cannot create dangerous micro black holes because if they could neutron stars would not exist. Therefore products of the LHC cannot produce dangerous black holes.
freethinker77 3 years ago
Exactly. Listen to this man. We cannot create anything bad that osn't already happening in the Atmosphere.
BenEss2k7 3 years ago
First I would like to say that I don't think they flip the switch and the "lights of the universe go out." However in as much as the cotton gin, the internal combustion engine, nuclear technology, etc, in as much as they did great things, they brought terrible things as well..Every advancement has a price, I am 100% sure whatever they learn at CERN will go into the next generation of weaponry. And I am 100% sure we won't know 100% of what they learn about whatever it is they create.
3dbeing 3 years ago
Basically hawking radiation centers around the idea that particles and anti-particles pop in and out of existence all the time. They exist for a very short time before they annihilate each-other. It was theorized that a black hole would suck in the anti-particle and not the normal particle, which would cause the black hole to lose mass. There's no observational evidence of it's existence at all.
freethinker77 3 years ago
Thank you.
archvile2000000 3 years ago
and...particles and anti-particles popping in and out of existence all the time centers around the idea of the uncertainty principle which states that we can't know exactly the momentum and position of a particle, so it can't be zero as we would then know the position and momentum to be zero, the consequence is that a particle can't precisely not exist, it must be in a verge of existence or have a potential of existence.
cyperium 2 years ago
Hawking radiation is NOT fact, it's a completely unproven theory. Hawking radiation is NOT the argument to use against these people, the neutron star argument is.
freethinker77 3 years ago
Umm, black holes according to my understanding of them get bigger and denser the more they (eat) suck up matter. So, eve a mini black hole could eat and grow into a stable bigger black hole. Black holes do not evaporate. Over long periods of inactivity they let out radiation and the matter they have eaten and they get smaller and smaller till the blip out of existance.
kryptonitebullets 3 years ago
The only reason I say that is because I saw this guy who wrote a book on tv last night talking about black holes. His book I think was called Death by Black Hole: And Other Cosmic Quandaries
kryptonitebullets 3 years ago
Actually it's when they're eating/devouring matter that they let out the most radiation. The matter swirling around the black hole, right before crossing the point of no return (event horizon) sends out tremendous amounts of gamma/x-rays. When a black hole is not feeding it is silent. Hawking radiation, if it does exist, is not something you would be able to notice or detect in stellar black holes.
freethinker77 3 years ago
Leave Hawking Radiation alone. Stop picking on it. And please don't ruin my chance to panic. Leave panic alone. Stop ruinibg my chance.
paultherolls 3 years ago
The public has a misunderstanding of the LHC. The LHC is the biggest particle collider in the world, working with much higher energies. Michu Kaku explains the experiment best by describing it as crash wristwatchs into each other at high speeds, and then looking at the debris after they collide into on another, this debris only lasts in Planck time, and this debris are particles that were created during the big bang. Now anything is possible especially when you are dealing with singularties.
valhala56 3 years ago
so...basically what ur saying is that black holes eventually just go away? if im understanding this correctly?
eanfan 3 years ago
they create a radiation that eventually kills itself yes
TristanPEJ 3 years ago
@TristanPEJ But it takes about 10^109 years for this to happen to a solar mass black hole.
Of course, if the black hole is created from just two protons, it will be absolutely minuscule, so it will evaporate in an instant. The Hawking radiation will happen much faster than it could ever take in matter
tommyk77 1 year ago
@tommyk77 of course. I made this video to debunk the idea of micro black holes created by the LHC could actually damage the planet.
