It's better to dock the tails on some breeds. Boxers are very energetic and can get their tails and themselves hurt playing around. They are designed as a working dog, so you would dock the tails to keep them from getting hurt while taking down the cattle or whatever they were used for. Getting the ears cropped is just cosmetic surgery for most breeds. Neither modification has any negatives for the dog. They are awesome dogs, I wish I still had mine!
Im surprised docking their tails is illegal anywhere, boxers wag so much they sometimes injure their tails if not docked, but they're definitely adorable either way
This dog looks great and natural. I think it cruel to cut tails and ears, just because people think it looks better. Don't understand how this goes along with being an animal lover!
I love that in denmark we cant cut tails because thats agaist the low here... my have also his tails..... they need it then talking with friends.... but funny dog u have.....
our boxer whose now ten "buddy" is very good at guarding. We'll tell him "Go look" and no matter what room were in he will run to the front of the house and look at every window so intensely.... never barks though like yours
@garethlucie It's a bummer it's illegal. Though I am not a fan of docked ears (or any other aesthetic modification), there actually IS a medical benefit to be had from docking the tail of a boxer (and some other dogs). The ones with very thin coats and very muscly tails have a nasty habit of whacking them against a fulcrum like object (wall corner, street light, etc) and actually breaking the bone in the tail. It's a NASTY injury.
@sundrop110 uhm you are suppose to do it when they are days old, when they don't really feel it, seriously I would know my family has been breeding boxers for over 25 years, so don't be a smart ass with me k thnx bai
Thats bull. Dogs remember. Wheter they are a few weeks or years old. Betya if you showed the dog the thing you used to cut its ears with, it'll be very cautious maybe even afraid. And the ears are there for a reason, to protect it in harsh weather. Shure, u have to clean em once a week, but if you cant even do that, dont get a dog in the first place.
@blaketriksdurst a boxer is a dog with droopy ears and a long tail. only if you have a gundog you have a reason to cut the tail. some people ( people like you ) actually think that they have to look like that (no tail). this is stupid
i never cut my boxer's ears and he never had any problem, people say it damages their hearing but i never saw something like that.. and when i had my boxer he came with his tale cut so i didn't have to do it.. thought i think they look better with the tail cut but not with ears cut
@LOKISlog7 THUMBS DOWN TO YOU TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How the hell can you call me irresponsible and that it is awful??? we live in england and its illegal to crop the tail and as for the ear dockin she is now over 4 years old and has had no problem what so ever with her ears and hearing , her hearing is that good she can tell the sound of my wifes car driving past our house to park on the drive while all doors and windows are shut and with the tv on , i cant even hear that so your talking boll**ks!!
@garethlucie "What's this then"...... "Stone the Crows" This bloke seems to have forgotten that when you post a video on a public forum such as YT; there will ultimately be rational people who certainly will not agree or thumbs up said post .Blimey laddy; don't take it so personally or be blinkered. Thank you for feeling the need to reply to me personally; but the yarn spun in your message is a load of Codswallop!!!!!
@LOKISlog7 well what did you expect when you put 'irresponsible' thats an insult were i come from and maybe using that choice of word would imply that i was a poor owner , dont you think ? thats why i went on a rant lol , and the yarn that i spun was refering to the ears cause some people say its done cause of getting ear infections and ear damage which she does;nt get so its not 'codswallop' , oh dont worry my peckers up most of the time :)
@LOKISlog7 I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or serious? Irresponsible is an odd choice of words. Cropping and docking is merely esthetic's and a feature that people have decided certain breeds should have. Trolling?
@nblucas07 Anyone who uses the "esthetics" card is seriously clueless to the issue; somewhat in the tree-hugging vain. There is a multitude of reasons for Cropping and Docking; to he chagrin of the left-leaning elements.
@LOKISlog7 Hahaha, tree hugger? Far from it. I own a boxer that has a docked tail. I also stand on very good ground to know they serve no other purpose then to meet an esthetic guide line. It was once believed to prevent rabies or make the dog "aerodynamic", but has obviously been proven false. If your dog is not working or fighting, you shouldn't have a reason to dock or crop. Your assumptions towards me couldn't be more off base. Left leaning, hahahahaha!
@nblucas07 Boxer tails were always docked for the same purposes as their 5th claw on each paw was removed.... to prevent self-inflicted injury when our running through the countryside. Its the ear clipping that is purely aesthetic in reasoning NOT the tail or 'jew' (due?..... never could remember spelling) claws. Plus boxer tails are particularly frail and easily broken by accident. Considering the initial pain of docking is all but non-existant its more a kindness than cruelty.
She has a long tail!! I hope people didn´t cut dogs tails, its an important part of dog´s bodies and they need them to comunicate with other dogs. She looks good with her actual tail. =)
@IrishDub18 because they bite it and then bleed .also because it is heavy and big and might cause damage in the house furnitures for example while wagging it he accidentaly hits a bottle
Mine was scare too when he was younger and it is kind a cute thing when I was with him but now when he is 1.5 year old he is not scare of any sound or any dogs or strangers...You will miss his face when he is scare after he grove up so enjoy now :) because he wont be like that always :)
I have a 2 year old female boxer that acts that way. She will run away from surprises and is pretty cautious but will growl and pull towards certain people she doesn't like. Boxers have a very unique and goofy personality, but they are protective. I believe dogs have a 6th sense for danger and any dog would help their owners in a bad situation, even little dogs.
LOL my Boxer does the same thing, the big wus!!He is quite most of the time but the neighbour let me know once he freaked out when I was not home. I think somebody was poking around my house, So ya they are great guard dogs =)

Shes not being a "guard dog" her reaction is based on insecurity. Your dog in no way s a guard dog. shes a "watchdog" vocalizing what she sees. Shes skiddish in her reaction over anything
@Lega11yBrunette0 well thanks for puttin me straight on the title of my vid , she was only a pup back then but now shes 3 and a very good and well trained "guard dog" so in every way she's a "guard dog" now but she does "watch" every now and then :)
@garethlucie the good thing with the boxers is their curiosity.as you can see in the begining of the film she is waiting and suddenly.......RUNNING AWAY FROM THE DOOR!I love when my male boxer does this quick moves!!!!!
@Lega11yBrunette0 boxers are natural watch dogs and instinctive guard dogs.. if she really felt that her family was in danger nobody would be able to enter that house
@Lega11yBrunette0 for gods sake she is'nt an insecure dog she was a puppy then she's now over 3 years old and is in every way a very confident dog because she was trained well!!!
@Lega11yBrunette0 No matter what, when instincts pop in, and dogs loev you enough, and are emotionaly attached, they will bite someone's head off if they hurt youn My mother and i were playign around, punching each-other in the arm, my dog comes up to her, and bites her, so do not think it cannot be a guard dog, if you took the time to read this entire comment, good for you, taking my advice, it will make a you better dog owner.
@msalaheldeen mine has a very agressive bark and growl when someone knocks on the door but is ok when i let them in even with strangers , dont know what she would do if alone and someone broke in , but i do know that boxers are very intelligent dogs dont get enough credit really cause of their sense of fun :) but can be trained to do whatever you want, so could be guard dogs but must be trained properly to get the best out of them :)
boxer is one of the most beautiful dogs ...in all the way...very afective, protective, good with the children and makes a wonderful guard dog. The only down side is that tends to develop cancer and to die earlier then other dogs.

vain163 4 months ago
I love the Boxers floppy ears, - the tail, - I dunno.
Some experts think that it minimizes the risk of injury, later, if the tail is docked,
the breed is after all, artificial, approx 120yrs. old, - and their tail is too thin & prone to breaking, - very painful for the poor Boxer.
