Hey Darren your truck sounds sweet! Three questions bro. First, when you removed the rear cats did you have any performance issues or did the check engine light come on? I live in Chicagoland and also have to worry about that lame ass emissions testing. Secondly, was there any difficulty in hanging the si/so mufflers on each side? How far from the cats? And lastly, where did the x pipe go?
@fyrman46 Thank you. No CEL was illuminated since the rear converters were actually not O2 monitored in the 04/05s. But you could smell an exhaust fume from it so I don't know just how well it will do with emissions sniffer. No issues at all, they were under the bed fully, and 4"s apart to reduce droning. X pipe went where the original Y pipe did.
thankz dude! YEA it definitely held up to the test. Not tryna bash the other car companies or nothing, but i feel had I been in a Dodge or GM truck the results would've been completely different. Ford is known for making their trucks w/tough, durable frames and steel. But I was blessed w/another one. I'm ready to do exhaust work on him these weekend. On the true dual flows do you recommend a O/R H or X-pipe? high flow cats or no? Im looking for that mean old muscle truck sound. w/b bro!
@DarrenWS6 Agreed. the 6.0s, no matter what, you can't shape the tone you get out of the exhaust at all. And i liked this sound but the bullets sound way awesome. i look all the time for better sounding setups but your's and Mblouir's sound the best.
sounds awesome. how much different would a single dual in/dual out muffler sound. would it be any quiter? I really like the way yours sounds but dont wanna buy two mufflers.
SI/DO would be about the same volume except at WOT, and it wouldn't have that dual rumble/rasp on acceleration/WOT. This 11" body muffler is available in DI/DO also.
two SI/SOs over a DI/DO would definitely be better, that ways the muffler velocity and exhaust gases aren't combining into eachother again like at the crossover. These mufflers will certainly be deeper and better sounding than glasspacks.
sounds good man. i've got magnoflows on my truck too. its an 09 king ranch 4wd. ive got true duals with 2 14 inch magnaflows on it. i'm gonna try to put a video up sometime

ok, so two Si/SOs would be best? I cant decide between these or glasspacks for my '98 chevy.

ok, so if i kept it true duals without the x-pipe would it sound much different from yours?
pedemax 2 years ago
it would pop more, and perform horribly without an X pipe.
DarrenWS6 2 years ago
okay. I'm going to get the exhaust done in the next couple days, ill let you know how it turns out.

This thing sounds mean as fuck... and I'm a Chevy guy who thinks Ford engines sound too smooth.

soundin good bro
you gonna lift it?
bradcarter23 2 years ago
thanks. highly doubt it. I prefer having a functional working truck over a un-functional gas guzzling truck.
